  • Muchas gracias por compartirlo.

  • ... great, energizing tune.

Cool to see others into jazz as well.

  • Billy Strayhorn wrote this, not Duke Ellington.

  • @BillWeekly - Barney Bigard / Duke Ellington

  • so many great trumpet me you don't hear about if you don't follow it closely - clayton, roy eldridge, oran 'hot lips' page, ray nance, rex stewart, cat anderson, and my all-time favorite, cootie williams. and that's just from two bands in the 30s and 40s.

  • @mcsneedy - Bubber Miley, also, from Duke Ellington's earliest bands. Fletcher Henderson had some great trumpeters, etc., also.

  • And check out the understated but brilliant drumming by Jo Jones. I once heard Max Roach say Papa Jo was the greatest of them all. I've never heard anything to contradict that.

  • That hot Kansas City swing sound from which Bird sprang.

  • Yeah Hank, nobody recognizes the great Mr. Jones except for other musicians.......

  • No one has mentioned the GREAT Vic Dickenson.

  • Should Be played more in radio

  • A whose who of mainstream jazz- they are all obviously having a great time.

  • Wonderful bass from George Duvivier, a musicians musician,

  • Most underrated is Fats navarro

  • @dramabeats111 Absolutely! Fats in untouchable as one of the greatest of the greatest!

  • My opinion is the same, dear kingoliver45, I hope I'll be excused becouse I had forgotten Joe Wilder

  • Buck Clayton is one of the most underrated trumpet players in the history of jazz and the same happens to Roy Eldridge, the master of Dizzy!

  • @123must Yes indeed. Buck is one of the greatest. I think Joe Wilder is the most underrated though.

  • @kingoliver45 But you guys cant forget "Curvy" Bill Willups...

  • @kingoliver45 ... and I would add Rex Stewart and Emmett Berry

  • @123must I like Roy's playing, but he plays in the upper register 99% of the time. I've always felt that Charlie Shavers was one the most underrated trumpet players.

  • @123must - (Buck/underrated) - True. Shad Collins, Emmett Berry, Joe Thomas could be mentioned, also ... and the legacy of Bix Beiderbecke is undiminished. ... Better, this is a GREAT example of Ben Webster in his later years.

  • Great Clip! Thanks for posting!

  • @1jazzsoul Thanx for enjoying!

  • I this from a DVD or something?

  • and the tall bearded guy in the background is Nat Hentoff, who helped put the programme together.

  • Great! Many thanks.
