He's a very skilled musician, I would have stopped to listen and enjoy, and given some money in return. That's better than the less personal concert/CD/computer-experience­, maybe even moneywise.

Well, I personally know a lot of skilled musicians playing on the streets. When I was a teenager I was doing that myself. However the sad truth is that they are doing that not because of the pleasure/enjoyment, but due to the lack of money. Trust me, there is little fun playing on a street.

Musicians are not really needed these days in this world.

I've played on the street for three years myself, and I only met one street musician who did it only for the money. That means he played a couple of songs again and again and wouldn't talk to other musicians. The others all had their own style and loved what they did. Some people don't understand this joy and look at us like beggars. Others stop to listen and wish it was them who were playing...
