@Stordongen It's possible, would depend on the judgement of the individual Commanders.. But, also the film seems to depict HUGE numbers of Romans, and potentially a small garrison of Dacians. A swift victory, and less time to enround the settlement might of been favourable - say if provisions were scarce, or the casualties sustained in a 'human wave' assault would be estimated as less than those of a prolonged siege.

well, many people spoke latin at that time. the romans had one kind of latin and the barbarians (gauls for example) talked a "dumber" latin, like when you say "you" writing an "u", they probably talked this kind of latin.

Gauls did NOT speak latin. There are actual historical facts though that state that LATIN is an IDIOM of Thracian language. In short, founders of Troy were of Thracian origin, then Aeneas sailed from Troy to found Rome. So, it is possible that LATIN was related to DACIAN just as Italian is related to Spanish or French. They could definitely understand each other. There are no historical proofs of any translation being used. Ever.
