Seems like there should be no reason why it can't be attached to a dash disk. How far does the base of the arm adjust "down". Can it actually extend all the way down such that if it were attached to a dash it would hold the device forward?

Yea I know where you're coming from as I sometimes just like having the dedicated GPS however now with the whole multitasking OS for the iPhone 4 I leaning more and more towards the iPhone being the total package (especially with apps like Navigon). I currently drive a Mecury Montego (old man car I know but I like them comfy), or my girlfriends car a Subaru Legacy. :)
@TekBeatTV have you tried it or are you just assuming? I'm afraid to dish the $ for this mounting unit (since it is a bit pricey) and have it not work with my otterbox defender.
Can this mount be attached to the dash? I have a plastic circular disk I got with my gps that I attached to the top of the dash. Will it mount to that and allow use if the phone?

@jeffnee It probably can be attached to the dash, but the problem is the suction cup design will not work with my dashboard. Hope this helps!

I like that car mount but I don't like using my phone as a GPS to be honest. I like having a dedicated GPS unit this way it's always in the car. :)
