  • typical CA. so poor they have to borrow a train car from Utah,

  • metrolink used to use them alot. i rode on one of them They are comfortable

  • AWESOME METROLINK P2 HORN!!!!

  • they have a load of these in the yard sitting

  • For people who trash talk about njt I would like to remind them that njt has had no serious accident in their history......

  • I think they are originally NJT cars

  • Now they have the NJT cars AND Frontrunner cars mixed into their trains. One thing's for certain--they sure ride a lot better than the Bombardiers!

    ...

They're probably going back to UTA when the Rotems come online.

  • @AmtrakFan454 Yeah, and I caught 5 UTA Frontrunner cars at the West Colton yard being transport back to Utah.

  • Had a UTA Frontrunner Engine in Minnesota working on the Northstar Commuter Rail, during the last 2 weeks! Crazy Utah people must not ride the train so they rent loners to the ones who need them for a bit lol.

  • I won't sit in that car because I am afraid of becoming Mormon. We do not need a Mormon train in California. Send it back. It is an evil presence here.

  • @Spokker A train is an evil presence? I don't get it... How is it a Mormon train? I thought Utah was an American state! UTA is owned by the government.

  • Woah that's very weird. I rode the UTA frontrunner train once because it was free for a day to promote the ride UTA day, plus I'm a cheap bastard haha. :D

  • omg . i saw this UTA car in LAX, and i was going to Oceanside, i should take this one, not Amtrak XD

  • careful though. rumor has it that its haunted. 'ghost train'

  • @sellingon how is it haunted??? my freind rode the metrolink like a 100x!!!!!

  • haha ahh the comet car! They are haunted and smell like the 1950's

  • thanks for telling me they are haunted !! now Ill always be afraid the train with that car is gonna crash and will be scared to ride it.. what exactly does the 50's smell like anyway?

  • Yep, as the other guys. This is one of the ex-NJT sliders (unofficial name for low-door Comet Is) that UTA is leasing to Metrolink.

UTA bought, I think, 25, but currently doesn't need all of them, so is leasing a few out.

And BTW, IMO, these cars look really good in a modern UTA scheme, probably better than NJT (although definately NOT better than Erie-Lackawanna ;-)

  • @ns3010 Thanks, we think they look nice too. It was cost effective for us to re-furb them from NJ. We have a cool clip of FrontRunner taking you from Salt Lake to Ogden and back. Search for "UTA Front Runner Salt Lake to Ogden. I mounted the camera right on the front of the train and sped up the footage.

  • @UTAride Yeah, I've seen that before. Looks like a nice route.

I'm just glad you bought them, just to keep that little bit of history alive!

  • No surprise, dude; Metrolink steals from every commuter railroad.

  • no they don't. the railroads are lesing there cars.

  • Beautiful video quality! I saw one of those Utah frontrunner cars, too, and today I researched it. Metrolink has leased several just so they can have enough capacity whilst they wait for their own new cars to arrive.
