First of all, you don't want to foul the defensive player. It's really hard to dunk on someone who doesn't want to block you. In this case, Yao dunked on Lebron because Lebron tried to blocked Yao. Second, Yao can't run and dunk on someone simultaneously neither because he's too big, falling at such speed and height is injurious. I think the last reason is because Yao Ming isn't that type of aggressive guy that wants to dunk everytime he gets the ball.
