There was a jam session that begins with Garth on the organ, Ringo on drums, and a variety of 60-70' greats on stage. Saw it a few months back but cant find it now. It was an 8-10 minute clip. Any suggestions?
@rocketman49100 I think you are talking about what is called Jam1 and Jam2. These jam sessions come after “I Shall Be Released”. You‘ll find the video “The Last Waltz. jam 2” in fabitoprofeta’s channel. And there are others interesting footages from brian600lyle’s channel.
One of life's absurdities: I've loved Bob Dylan's music, including Before The Flood, for nearly 30 years (started out at a very early age thank to my phenomenal family). However, it was only three weeks ago that I heard The Last Waltz for the first time, and only because my father played it in his car while we were coming back from a trip abroad. Now, this music touches (me) somewhere very deep. It brings back the best memories that I have. Each time I hear The Band, tears just start flowing.
fuck all you analyzing pieces of shit, fuck just enjoy the music and how it makes you feel, you had no part in it so finally do something and put your finger in your ass, smell it and then analize that
but without robbie there would be nothing to remember the band by. im not fucking talking about scorceces. i dont worship the mother fucker. he fucks up. but i wouldnt talk shit about a man who is responcible for making the band responcible for the weight and the night they drove old dixie down
Don't hate too hard on Robbie Robertson. He wasn't replaceable- the whole point of the Band was that NONE of them were replaceable, they were all responsible for making the best music out there. Robbie went solo before I was born but his music is just as great as Levon Helm's is- every member of the Band kicked ass. You've got to love them all- no one makes music like this anymore, that's what's important.
@forbiddenwaffles I'm pleased to read your wise comment. I never read that so commented book however I think there is a bit of prejudice against Robbie. Many of the greatest bands ended up like The Band's members with hurt feelings. We have to thank The Band just to have existed and enjoy their fantastic talents and performances.
@forbiddenwaffles I am a Band FANatic, have been since the '60s, was lucky enough to see them 4 times,Fantastic! I have researched them extensively, incl reading Levon's book. I agree The Band collaberatively put out the Best music and no one was replaceable. But Robbie did screw the other Band members over royally. They were left near broke with very little royalties, even though it was well known that their work was a collaberative effort. One member never bounced back.
@Free1108 I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW LUCKY YOU ARE TO HAVE SEEN THEM. I am 16 years old... I am among the new generation of Band fanatics! And I want them ALL to be remembered as the musical GENIUSES they were, even if they weren't saints. Robbie did fuck the guys over, no question, but he was a genius, just as much as the other boys were, so I really can't hate him. But I read Levon's book too and I totally see your point. He's not the most lovable guy.
@forbiddenwaffles Makes me happy that a new generation can appreciate their music and see their musical genuis...you are wise beyond your years! I agree that Robbie contributed immensely, his song-writing/lead guitar were integral parts to their success. I just Hate what his greed/selfishness did to the band. Plus, lives were ruined (and I know it isn't 100% his fault, but he sure helped!) Yes, I sure was lucky, even got to party w/ them after a concert! Best years of my life!!
Robbie.....Easily the most easily replaceable member of The BAND...Took all the writing credits..Total asshat..---and another thing ..your solo stuff blows..
its a shame richard manuel got addicted to cocaine, it ruined such a good singer and performer. you can really see the effect in this movie, all his mumbling and whatnot .
@tampadc he and scorcesee defrauded levon and the rest of the band after the movie ... levon refuses to talk to robbie, even to this day ... thats how robbie isnt the coolest person on the planet
@MichaelBallack91 It wasn't a "Robbie didn't want to" deal, he wasn't welcome to play alongside Levon. The others may not have taken sides, but Levon and Robbie wouldn't play together, and they still haven't settled their differences today. Both Levon and Robbie are alive and still playing, just not together. Hopefully they'll resolve their differences. About breaking up, read Levon's book

a good tip for bands today is to go into wal mart. Take food into the McDonalds, and eat it! You'd be surprised how nobody gives you shit!

that's not true..they all agreed they wanted to break up. Then the rest of the band got together, but robbie didn't want to.
