@funkduz What do you expect noob? These are top players. If one gets close enough to his opponent, that guy become dangerous as one opening can lead to a massive combo and mixups. So both are trying to keep the other player out while figuring out how to get in. Besides these particular characters have fireballs so why not use them effectively to keep the other out. If you don't like fireball wars, or don't seem to understand, look at other non fireball characters. Dumbass.
@ComradeStranger Well said noob everyone that beats me online and use's a fireball also spams. I think any special move that I cant over come is cheap and should therefore be banned.

For all of you who think sagat is OP then get off street fighter. Zangief is more damaging than sagat or anyone in the game...yet hes left alone bc not alot of top lvl players use him, but if they did he'd be the next OP character. learn the game then maybe you can have the mindset of a good player, damn retards.
LOL! how come when Mago uses Sagat everybody hangs on his nut, while ive seen other good sagat players but they get called cheaters or scrubs using an overpowered character...
actually they play each other all the time in tournaments in japan and i've seen 5 matches where mago looses to daigo. only seen 2 of mago beating daigo
they aren't spamming, try playing someone good at the game and just spam fireballs you will lose, daigo's and mago's fireball game is on the next level.
"Spamming" is an idiot concept that has only entered the lexicon of the scene thanks to all the new scrubs sfiv has brought. This is not mindless spamming, look at the spacing.
@Lebowsk1 very true. "Spamming" is a term used by losers who cant win. Ryu's strategy is zoning!!! Plus he has like 3 moves, so am I expected to execute them in turn then cycle again in order not to be considered a spammer?
I'm getting tired of people posting how they hate spamming projectiles. The people that complain about it are the ones to stupid to take advantage of character moves allowing to pass through them. I don't enjoy zoning, but it's won me many of matches without to much concern.

I love how tourneyfags spout out 'spacing' and 'zoning' as if it makes fireballs really skillful. Don't those just mean pushing/luring the opponent into a position where you can get the upper hand and land some solid damage? That applies to every fighting game, but only streetfighter asks you to spam fireballs to achieve that.
This match is actually very good, and I recognise Daigo and Mago are immensely skilled. It's the game mechanics that are flawed for rewarding boring fireballs so much.
yeah, I don't really care anymore tbh. If my idea of spacing and zoning is wrong, a correction would be appreciated; if you guys just disagree with my view that the game is flawed, just flame my comment like the fireball lovers you are. I'm pretty bored of this game either way.
Your definition of zoning was good. I just don't see what's inherently wrong with throwing fireballs to do it. To say that zoning with fireballs doesn't take skill is to suggest that you can throw them haphazardly and expect it to work, which really isn't the case.
I imagine it boils down to personal preference though. If you don't like the game, you don't like the game and that's that.
That's reasonable. What I mean is, I understand the premise of using fireballs skillfully, switching between weak/medium/strong to alter the timing, forcing the opponent into the air, forcing a focus dash into a combo, etc. It's just that the amount of fireballs spammed until such an opening is given is just... eugh. I play fighters to pull off/see stylish combos, if I want fireballs I'll watch dbz. I like sf4's combos though. I think I'll just stick to watching characters like Viper and Fuerte.
The focus of SF4 isn't flashy combos, but zone control, so then maybe you're trying to play the game as something it isn't? If you enjoy big flashy combos, like a lot of people do, there are tons of great series that will cater to you; you'll have a blast with BlazBlue, KOF XII and MvC2 when it hits XBLA/PSN.
hahaha, I think you've got it right there. Marvel vs Capcom 2 is one of my all time favourite games, and I've been meaning to get into KOF! Thanks for the recommendations
wow daigo ate the corner... at the end...but if daigo had just a bit MORE DEFENCE... sad to see him lose twice to the same guy.... kinda like roy jones jr...
daigo has alot of work to do to get his status back.
mago wouldn't be as good if he didn't use such an overpowered character just like he wasn't that great in sf3 since all the top tier characters were balanced well in that game unlike sagat in sf4 whos by far the best character in the game.
ive seen plenty of top level videos where low tier characters like Q and hugo beating players that primarily use either chun li and yun. i've never seen a low tier characters coming close to beating god tier sagat in the professional level.
In casual play, yes, I've seen those videos as well, but you simply will not see low tiers in tournament play because they can't compete. Period. Sagat isn't god tier, just look around Youtube and you'll see low tiers beating Sagats in tournament.
have you seen kuroda literally humilating ortiz and wong at SBO few years back? he was Q and wong and ortiz were ken and chun. also i've seen him do very well with his akuma against yuns and chuns at tourneys.
Kuroda's Q and Akuma in SFIII is God like.... he also humiliated Justin Wong a few years ago at SBO with his Q vs Wong's Chun, his team won SBO last year in SFIII and I really wanna see him play SF4
also i've seen top level players that have used ken, dudley, urien, makoto, hugo, and Q rape top level chun and yun players. usually those characters fare ok against chun and yun. also fighting against chun and yun isn't nearly as frustrating as playing against sagat.
for everyone that thinks they spam fireballs, its a technique for zoning, or controlling where they want the other player to be. they don't care if they're fireballs always hit, most of the time they either want a knockdown or they are spacing the other player... or trying to get the other player to be less aggresive and more defensive.
it was a good match but....he used sagat. but when you think about how good daigo is you can see why mago picked sagat. i would of liked to see mago use anther character but i still respect him for pulling off that victory over daigo anyway.
Didnt know that...I was wondering why i got 2 thumbs down...honestly i just saw this on RajmanHdGaming's channel and just decided to check it out and drop an opinion based off the match. STILL you have to admit that Sagat is an overpowered character. Mago is good but with an overpowered character and thats why I thought it would have been nice to see him use another character but regardless he still did a good job against Daigo and they are pretty much even as far as playing skills.
I see where you're coming from, but did you know that when they had private matches Daigo beat Mago 20-10? It is in Mago's blog (which is in Japanese). At the end of the day, when you really get down to it, Sagat is more overrated than overpowered. He is the worst best character in a fighting game ever. Sure he has the tools to be a monster in the right hands, but he also has huge disadvantages (slow speed, strict links timing, etc etc) Its his damage output per move that really makes him beast.
well i wouldnt be surprised if Daigo did beat him 10 to 20 because from all the vids ive seen of him playing all ive ever seen is him flying through opponents. getting back to sagat...your pretty much right. Id usually counter a sagat with a balrog and keep punching him before he could spam. plus balrog is good defensively but thats just me and what i would do if someone chose a sagat.
Thanks for telling me a bit more about Mago and Daigo :)
