With the amount of people in the class, to be seen, you simply couldn't stay on the rail. That's part of the reason (among others) that I didn't make the cut..we got pushed over to the rail by other horses so many times that the judges couldn't even see me.
also when you arent on the rail it makes it look like they are covering more ground too... i mean its not a huge deal but if u wanna get seen and have ur horse cover more ground most stay towards the inside
I know how you feel about a big class. I had a cut with about 25 also and it was pretty tight. People kept cutting me off or running up behind us. My horse really doesn't like others lol. *watching video*
I'm surprised your horse didn't make the cut. He looked very nice. I saw a few issues but, overall I though he had a better frame than most of them. Was he a bit rushy? It's hard to tell from the video. Anyways, wonderful horse, good luck in the future.
@highstylinrascal having your horse in a frame doesn't mean anything really. many horses in this class were behind the bit which is worse then have your horses' head up. the main issue i think was a few transition errors, and being very heavy on the forehand.
@DressageFreak I know that. My reasoning in specific for why this horse should have made the cut is he has a great split to his hock - that is deep and matches his front. He has a beautiful "flip" to his front leg without too much knee and carries a steady frame throughout. I would not call him very forehandy. On a second watch he was a bit of a run away during the canters which made him appear less floaty and probably the reasoning behind not making the cut. Either way she had a good ride.
Really nice run the only thing I could see that separated your from the rest is if you stretch your heels down just a lil more when you trot that will keep your feet from moving when posting. Great Job
Thanks..I was actually squeezing with every post to help keep him lifted and stretching his stride. We just got covered up a bunch and Tyson wasn't quite ready, so that was the main reason we didn't move on. Thanks though. :)
My trainer told me when riding english to keep your legs wraped around the horse and when you sit down then bring your legs more 'up' then in. Because when your legs are already at their side they already know to go and then when you squeeze 'up' then that drives them foreward. I hope that made some sense lol ;P
Thanks! I love him too. :) I normally show in North and South Carolina, but money is tight and I'm in college, so I am not going to horse shows for a while. Even though I wish I could. :(
lol you mentioned my trainer! charlotte cannon :)

Yeah, he was definitely rushy..that coupled with the class size was enough to keep us from making the cut. Oh well..thanks for the compliment! :)
