  • I took this Video a few years back. I met the pilot the late Jim Poel while fixing a phone trouble at his house in Penn Yan. Jim was a great guy and I will never forget that day. RIP Jim.

  • They both are modfied but the blue one has an engine mod that upped the HP from 215 to 260/295 and made a real Tiger out of it. The Seabee's best point is rough water. It will take much rougher water than a floatplane. About the stall/spin ... that's not true it is a great, honest flying airplane. A difference from most is you takeoff and land with full flaps. If someone says takeoff 90, cruise 90, land 90 ... they never flew one (or rode in one). takeoff. 60 cruise 120 land 70 mph.

  • A very nice video that brings back memories. I owned my first stock seabee in 1955 and later as an airline pilot I bought a highly modified one in 1962. It is a great airplane. The stock seabee is a handful to fly, especially on the water but over the years a few smart people modified it and it flew much better and was a piece of cake. to fly. I sold the good one for $5000 in 1963 and now they are going for $150,000 and up. Over the years I have flown almost everything and am still flying jets

  • This feels like the 90's.

  • whoever designed this amphibian must have been a sailor. the concept is beautiful

  • Where do you order parts, National Geographic?

    Kidding, nice vid.

  • My father, Bill Bardin is flying the Red, White and Blue Seabea. My brother, sister, and I grew up in this airplane and traveled all over in it with our parents. The Seabea is a very versitile plane and is great bushplane type aircraft. We went all over Canada and the Eastern United States with it. It can ride a little rough at times and it a tight fit in the back with 3 teenagers. We would take out the back seat and put milk crates 2 cut back on weight inorder for easier take offs.

  • What a unique amphibian! Both aircraft in this video are amazing, however the earlier model with it's raised and rounded cowel brings out the vintage design character of this beautiful aircraft.

  • Republic designed this as a "flying station wagon" put the family in and go!! I have heard that the early models had a somwhat bad reputation as it had some bad stall/spin issues, is that correct? How do they fly?

  • Forgot to raise the floats?

  • @skazhiprivet The floats are fixed.

  • @angelica14709 - Ah, that´s why! Thanks for the answer! :-)

  • Wonderful. Always wanted to see a flying boat formation landing and takeoff on water. I have watched a Seabee out of Pontiac Airport, MI, and it looks like quite a thrill. I'm Commercial Airplane (ASEL) & Helicopter; hoping to add a seaplane rating in the future. Thanks again for the encouragement. Don

  • Just LOVE the rubber ducky setting on the instrument panel.

  • Best little plane in the air, anywhere.

  • how many passangers does it carry, do you know where I can buy or borrow a set of plans or obtain a 3D model or computer generated model of the seabee

  • Type in the google search box "seabee model airplane" there are many models the Seabee has four places pilot and 3 passengers.

  • @angelica14709 I have heard you dont need an stc to remove wheels making it straight floats and a 5 place plane? has anyone else heard this before?

  • @deauzie if you like simulators they have a SeaBee RC3 for X plane 9.

  • Terrific video! Thanks for sharing. I first saw a Sea Bee when I was 9 and it was in Portland, Maine and I was always fascinated with those. You don't see many of these around anymore but a few show up at the Greenville Maine Sea Plane weekend. Again, thanks for sharing!

  • Very cool, looks like you had a great trip. I bet you get a lot of interest at flyins with these aircraft.

  • I was working in North Bay, ON a few summers ago in the tower, and didn't I see you two come in for gas one afternoon? Small world, indeed! Grabbed some nice pics, and my dad saw the LS1 red and blue bird in Maine one year, there's a video of it on my YouTube page.
