I read Vietnam books and I received a tattoo of an American eagle from a tattooist named Lam. I was a medic in 1978 receiving refugees in Edmonton- roughly 7000 people. Vietnam is a good example of how not to run a war. The US Military wasn't exactly willing to adopt an effective counter-insurgency doctrine and paid the price for it in the end. Although, I think the lack of public support in America was more responsible for the pullout than anything else. The US Military was making gains slowly but, never got the opportunity to actually win the war.
