Square does not own any of the manga or anime you listed, they only published it. Atlus may not have a lot of known games but the ones I think of of my head are ALL gems. I wish I could say the same for Square (Kingdom Hearts has good gameplay but the story is so... I have no words to describe how much I hate it).

Gotta say, I came in to the Persona franchise with the release of Innocent Sin on the PSP, in that time frame since, I've come to acquire the PSP version of the first and third entries, along with the fourth title added to my library about three weeks ago, give or take. I'm glad/hate Persona 4 is going to the Vita. I'm glad because Persona 4 will have additional content that the original never had. I hate that Persona 4 will be going to the Vita because that would mean I have to sacrifice over $200 buying a PS Vita AND the game. I'm not even into Atlus games, but Nomura is nothing more than a horrible cancer on SE. The company would be much better off without his crappy rehashed character designs and abysmal gameplay ideas. And dont go giving him undo credit for what he did with FFVII.

@OmarramOKamel he wrote the damn story. that one of the main reasons the game still stands up today. as for character design the fact he's been doing character design for every final fantasy since VI I think most people aren't complaining considering that was to boom period for final fantasy. and lets not forget the guy created Kingdom Hearts so I would hardly call him a cancer since he's delivered 2 of the most iconic games in squares line up.

@newyoikmabsta Persona 3 and 4 are really good games and top rpg choices but what about 1 and 2? Many people dont even know about those. Square has timeless rpg characters that appeal to all age groups(kingdom hearts specifically). P3,4 and Cathrine are for adults only. Based off of best known characters, age target, and sales; Square has it. So what Atlus has 2 great games. What about Namco? They have great games too. One or two game doesnt really make a company "the best" =/

@Dcutiey (No flame please, my opinion) I think that Final Fantasy has degraded from what it once was. While Atlus has shown they can still make a great game with Catherine. Maybe SquareEnix was the better developer before, I'm not so sure now. We'll see when Persona 5 comes out.

@EpicRichter persona can be considered another series which is great in it's own way. If you only like the old school snes shin megami tensei games then I recommend that you play SMT strange journey on ds which is a fantastic smt game and is the 4th sequel to the original smt series (1,2,Nocturne, Strange journey). Persona hasn't become like this, It's been like this since the masterpiece that is persona2 innocenst sin on psx. So look your facts up before you nag.

Shin Megumi Tensei has one vast imagination. Persona rocks! 4 starts off a little slower than 3 but it comes through to be what one would expect from Shin Megumi Tensei. If you haven't played yet PLAY IT NOW!! One of my favorite PS2 titles of all time!

This game beats Persona 3 in everyway except 4.

1. Persona 3 has a better opening.

2. When the main character summons 2 Persona I love how he shoots himself in the head and falls backwards (It looks awesome)

3.I kind of like the main characters design in 3 more. I like all the main characters design from 2 up just the way he crushes the card with his hand is dull.

Persona 4 even has better music and playing it with the Japanese voices is such a magical expierence.
