  • Hi. Loved the video. I cook for my dog. This validates my approach. Thanks.

  • Hi, I'm Rick Woodford - the dog food dude. Jackson was in remission for another two years after this video was made. He passed away in January 2010 simply from old age: we wore out his body rather than let him succumb to cancer. Currently I'm writing a dog food cookbook title Feed Your Best Friend Better. You can follow my blog at dogfooddude.blogspot.com.

  • Aww I'm sad for Jackson that he has cancer but wow he got 2 years still since the diagnosis. Well done!

  • I Have that book! lol had it since i was....8 years old, im 11 now, If you have a cat, it also has awsome recipes, a nd, in the vid they said it had dog recipes, and it gives lots of other awsome info, not just food info. GOT dr.pitcarins BOOK? (lol got milk?)

  • Best wishes... Your dogs are beautiful and I congratulate you for doing this!!

  • Wonderful video! I believe most cancers in dogs is caused by the crap they put in dog food so it is no surprize that your dog got better once you started feeding home cooking. (smile)

I love to cook for my dogs, and they love it too! LOL

  • your so nice to your pet i hope theres alot of people like you. tanks for caring your dogs your verry nice person. take care..

  • Bone meal once was often used as a human dietary calcium supplement. Research in the 1980s found that many bone meal preparations were contaminated with lead and other toxic metals, and it is no longer recommended as a calcium source.

Where may I ask did you get the idea bone meal is good for dogs?

  • @Shawamaroo - Hi, it's Rick from Dog Stew. Calcium is very important for dogs, and bone meal can be a great source if it is safe. Now Foods tests their bone meal for heavy metals and it's the source I've used. Another option is eggshell powder from fine ground eggshells.

  • I was wondering what your thoughts are on the grains? I have cut them out of my dogs and cats diet altogether. I've read in many places that grains aren't properly digested by dogs and cats. What do you think? This video is great.

  • Same thing happened with my dog! I prepare all my pet food now, and have been for awhile. The improvements are staggering. Thank you so much for sharing this!

  • What you did was a very awesome thing to do. Btw, your dogs are really cute :P

  • Awsome Rick !!! Congrats on Jacksons new lease on life....literally. I am so happy for both of you. Thanks for the infor on the dog food. Have begun making my own food for our 2 strays and they love it also. Your basic overview of the varieties, balance ratios and supplements is very helpful. Best wishes for many more happy and bouncy days for you and yours. All the best !!!
