I truly do hope that one day, we can move past our bullshit nature. That one day, we'll realize what is truly important. That one day, we too, will get to boldly go where no man has gone before.
If they had made the Enterprise series, the final series into what Rodenbary had invisioned the original series to be, a space western, than they would have done a hell of a lot better with that series.
@SunTrapped Actually, Roddenberry wrote in The Making of Star Trek that Star Trek was always about a positive future made seemingly believeable, plus *shades* of Horatio Hornblower and Wagon Train. Also, Star Trek (when under Roddenberry) always made opinionated statements: Anti-communisim, pro-socialisim (only if thoughfully employed), and loads of pro-Christianity.
Star Trek: Enterprise was ALREADY basically a western, it just lacked the *believeable* part, especially season 1.
Where did you see loads of pro-Christianity in Star Trek? They showed a wedding or two that appeared to be Christian, but I can think of many instances when Star Trek was directly critical of religion in general. I presume that would include Christianity. From what I know, Roddenberry wasn't a fan of religion and I don't think his artistic creation would show otherwise.
"We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes." -Gene
"Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry objected to the characters' search for God in general, and more particularly, the idea of a God as portrayed by Western religion." -Wikipedia (Star Trek V)
@Idazmi7 I think the absolute best case you could hope to make is that he was open minded about the universe. This is the spirit of Star Trek;exploration. I don't think he admired any set of theistic doctrines.
"I have always been reasonably leery of religion because there are so many edicts in religion, 'thou shalt not,' or 'thou shalt.' I wanted my world of the future to be clear of that."-Gene
@trekgeek1 When did he say those things? I do know that he was raised as a baptist, and that he objected to Star Trek V. (in which God was shot dead by a Klingon) Atheisim (hatred of God) is not Agnosticisim (Every non-Christian who is not an Atheist is an Agnostic)
Also, Wikipedia cannot be a good source for anything: they spent more time quoting other people who worked on Star Trek, not Gene, and I still do not know where the seemingly "polite atheist" statements come from.
Atheism is not hatred of God. Atheism is a disbelief in God. You can't hate what you don't believe in. I can't hate the Easter bunny. I don't think we should turn this video into a religious debate, but I think your lack of understanding of what an atheist even is may be the reason we're not seeing eye to eye on this. We don't even have an agreed upon set of terms. Non Christians who believe in God are theists. Agnosticism deals with the ability to posses knowledge.
@trekgeek1 Tell that to the atheists (aside you) who meet me. :-P
Eh... Maybe they are not true atheists. Either way, I've had to block people who spammed me for MONTHS trying to get me to not believe. (I didn't spam *them*, they just dogged me)
Roddenberry was still raised Baptist, and the quotes are still empty until you can provehe said those things.
As bad as Enterprise is, you can admit that this is a pretty fitting end to the TV franchise. I doubt we'd see an entirely new Star Trek tv series soon.
This is and was Great when the Series Ended, ENT, I Know that Only Enterprise, From the NX threw 1701D was the Voices, But Could you have added DS9 and Voyager to it.. It would have Been Great to See ALL Captains For the Final Goodbye..
And Before you say it, Capt Ben Sisco was in Charge on the one ship, "Defiant" and the other at Wolf 359 But he was A Captain Flying DS9 in 1 Episode,
Star Trek without U.S.S. Enterprise(NCC-1701/-A/NCC-1701-D/E/NX-01) is not Star Trek. It's just set in the Star Trek universe. Btw my favorite series is TOS(love William Shatner in the movies and Leonard Nimoy all along.)
This combination of all three major series "Star Trek" is simply great. This transist underlines the whole chronology of the "Star Trek" from Captain Kirk to the Jean-luc Piccard
I'm really glad they kept it as where no MAN has gone before. I hated the idea that it was sexist, I mean if you're going where no-ONE has gone before you aren't going to find much are you?
That was cool. Comparing Star Trek Enterprise to any other Enterprise is like comparing a M4 Sherman Tank to a M60 Main Battle tank. Or the 1700's Enterprise with full sails to the Modern aircraft carrier Enterprise. Just enjoy the fun of it.
That scene was worth the last episode of ENT - and thats it about the final. It really sucked. Not only that ENT deserved more seasons - it was sad to see Frakes and Sirtis pretending to be, what? 10, 15 years (?) younger. So I deceided to ignore this last episode. Every series had it´s weak episodes or even seasons but I even enjoyed voyager. Maybe I´m just uncriticall.
I still hate the fact that the series finale of "ST: Enterprise" felt a lot more like a bonus episode of "TNG." Don't get me wrong, I loved seeing the Enterprise-D again, but Archer's crew deserved their own proper series finale.

Not an intro, an exit. And probably the last time we will have actual honest to god Star Trek. Abrahms and his abomination with its Apple iBridge and frakked up ship design have sealed the fate of Star Trek. I am glad Gene is dead...so he would not see this crap.
Man, I really hope that the 11th movie turns out good. Voyager was the last best in the series, and then came Enterprise. I'll admit, the last two "ST" theatrical releases sucked ass, but this, "Star Trek XI: JJ's Star Wars Fantasy!" was an atrocity! The bad camera work, the goddamned head ache causing lens flares, not to mention a story that was stupid as hell!
No. Gene Roddenberry would never have approved of any of it!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
After Gene died the powers that be made Trek go down hill and it became STALE
After DS9 I never watched Voyager because the premise was being ignored and Enterprise sucked and it ruined the history that was told in the Trek encyclopedia The Next Gen movies were 2 hour episodes not movies and the TNG cast was bitter about doing more plus the movies weren't making enough because people knew that Trek was stale

TNG is the worst .
The ships looks tacky, the crew is lame, and the entire gestalt is just tedious.
The stories are tolerable, but most of the crew members are over-wrought.
This could be the reason the DVD shelf for the original series at the store is always barely stocked, but the next generation shelf is jam packed.

No sir! There was not a damned thing wrong with the "Star Trek" we had, and it was never "stale!"
His memorie was spat on by Jar Jar Abrams!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
After Gene died the powers that be made Trek go down hill and it became STALE
After DS9 I never watched Voyager because the premise was being ignored and Enterprise sucked and it ruined the history that was told in the Trek encyclopedia The Next Gen movies were 2 hour episodes not movies and the TNG cast was bitter about doing more plus the movies weren't making enough because people knew that Trek was stale

Keep it up "boy." You just keep making yourself sound more and more like an "ignorant hick."

What?
You still don't have any business her! What the hell are you talking about?
You ride the "short bus" to school, don't you?

I always considered the "short bus insult" to be way too ambiguous.
You could very easily be claiming the person is a gifted child with an IQ higher than yours.

The only good thing about that episode... so sad that so much potential went to waste.

What a crappy actor Scott Bakula is!
It sounds like he was reading a cue card.
Just listen to the difference next to 2 REAL actors.
