  • @antwonbowl20 Watch earthlings to make your decision! :)

  • I think that the same will happen to me...I become vegan recently and I will have my birthday party on Sunday. There wont be ANYTHING i could eat..well maybe except fruits..oh well I probably wont sit there anyway,so it wont be such a big problem.

  • YA POR FAVOR PONTE A TRABAJAR Y DEJATE DE TONTERIAS GUATEMALTECA!!!!

  • These are great videos! I'm thinking about going vegan, but not quite sure about it. I don't eat dairy and rarely eat meat or fish. Still trying to research about what other animal products are in different foods. The biggest challenge for me is learning to cook and living with someone who is not vegan.

  • Sorry I missed your birthday - happy birthday anyway,

    thanks :)

  • OMG it was your birthday??

I am so sorry I missed it. :-(

I hope you had a wonderful birthday my dear friend.

Regarding going to family things, I am always

bringing my own food. People see me eating other food

and then questions begin. Suddenly I am holding a seminar on why I am a vegan. No need to preach at all because they are all asking me for the answers. It's mostly just curiosity but I get to plant a seed of thought and who knows where that will lead.

    Anyway, as usual, wonderful video!!

  • Happy Birthday Pao :-) Love to Esteban, Blanquito and all the family

  • We have the same birthday!!!

  • @D3clanb really? Aw I completely missed it on Facebook! I'm sorry!! Happy Birthday Declan! :'D

  • @porolita22 It's ok, I missed yours too! Happy Birthday!!

  • HAPPY BELATED! Keep up the fantastic work darlin', you are a treasure :-D

  • happy birthday!!!!!

  • When I first went vegan I only told friends and family. I.e. Those with whom I was likely to have something to eat. After a while I thought, "Fuck it!" and told everyone on my MSN.

I don't tell people I randomly meet or people I see regularly on a nonpersonal basis, e.g. shop keepers, check-out workers etc. If the subject came up, I would probably tell them. Having said that, I always wear badges that mention animal welfare or veganim or sometimes a vegan tshirt.

  • My in-laws, who are farmers no less, are very supportive despite the fact that they just LOVE red meat and it is included in family meals. They always make sure to provide me with something great to eat. If you educate people, they will respond.

  • this video helped me so much! I just posted a video on my vlog talking about the annoying social comments about different eating lifestyles. Thanks so much for helping me!! So much inspiration :)

  • Happy Birthday, Pao!!! If you're still planning to visit vegans in the US this summer, I hope they stuff you full of birthday cake!

  • Happy birthday !

  • haha i like at ~10:30

"people will see that veganism is easy and it is AWESOME!"

    thanks for the vids!!!!

  • Happy Birthday and thanks for the vids.

  • Happy Birthday :)

    All love from me Jasmine

  • Are you wearing a shirt from HerbivoreClothing :)?

  • @VeganJessica Yes!!! It says "STOP THE WAR ON ANIMALS" :'D it was a present from a vegan I met through youtube/facebook who came to my country a couple of weeks ago!

  • Happy birthday! ;-)

  • Happy Birthday, Pao!

  • TAKING A STAND!!! YES!!! that is mighty important!!!

I don't get the whole "better eat it than let it go to waste" mentality. If you're vegan, you don't consume animal products, period. If I wouldn't eat human meat, even if someone offered it to me in good will... then why would I eat animal meat (or other derivates)?

  • @OneAnnoyedVegan I don't think subscribing to the vegan 'doctrine' is a healthy and effective way to be. I prefer to just answer that my lifestyle is such that I try to reduce harm where possible. Being a die-hard vegan puts others off from doing the same.

  • @tommyk77 well it has been healthy and effective for me for the past 14 years :)

  • Happy Birthday!

  • @tommyk77 I mean, feliz compleanos!

  • @tommyk77 GRACIAS for the birthday wishes LOL :'D

  • @porolita22 :-D

By the way, I think you should have eaten the cake. Otherwise, the animal suffered for no reason. I bought a cheese sandwich yesterday because Tesco had to sell it by midnight and it was 11:50pm and their reduced section is recorded as "didn't sell" on their records.

Anyway, happy birthday. Hope you're having a great day

  • @tommyk77 I don't consume animal products even if I didn't buy them. Animals are not things to me. The fact that someone eats the cake doesn't give meaning to the life of the animal. His/her life was taken for a trivial reason anyway, I would never support that.

  • @porolita22 I agree that animals aren't just things and if you don't like the food, then that's fine. I'm just saying that although I don't feed a demand for animal products, a utilitarian approach would dictate that it is better to eat non-vegan food that is going to go to waste as it maximises interest.

In most cases, however, there is someone else who will want to eat the food who is not a vegan

  • @tommyk77 Yeah, I remember you mentioning Singer's work in another comment in my previous video right? But I disagree with utilitarianism.

  • @tommyk77 If a product is marked as 'didn't sell', then they'd buy less in the next order. If you buy it, then they'll buy the same amount next time. Therefore, you are encouraging the animal industry. Plus, there are many people who take food from supermarket dumpsters so that food may not go to waste after all.

  • @marcluc1988 No, you misunderstand. In the UK's supermarket, Tesco, everything they put into the "Reduced to Clear" aisle is already recorded as "Didn't sell" so buying it creates no demand.

In buying the food, I've not encouraged any harm, but I've created some happiness. I see nothing wrong with this

  • @tommyk77 Okay. I thought you meant if it doesn't get sold AFTER the "Reduced to clear" section. In which case, I get your point but from my point of view, I'd feel very uneasy about eating it.

  • @marcluc1988 Yes, I agree. I wouldn't eat meat if it was going to waste as I'd just feel a bit weird. But cheese, eggs, chocolate, cakes etc I really enjoy and I don't find it weird seeing as in theory you can derive these things from animals without causing harm.

For example, I eat the free range eggs that my neighbours sell in my small village where I live (when I'm not at university). The chickens live nice lives and aren't bothered by humans eating the eggs.
