i have a little advise, instead of dragging it to create a new, you could just press

Ctrl J And That Will Duplicate It.

when i try to flip vertical it just makes that text dissapear.

Well i used hypercam 2 it has a feature that can put a red star on it and you can change the colour to what you want and all you gotta do it click record cursor and add starburst under other options.
