This is not David singing during the audition--his 1st audition was never shown on AI. These are snippets of other hopefuls (you can tell because Paula's blouse keeps changing) and what you see of David is him thanking the judges after they told him he was incredible. Knowing AI, we will NEVER see that audition because there supposedly were lisencing issues with the song "Crazy" and it couldn't be aired. I, for one, don't believe that excuse. David was too good & everyone would have seen that.

I don't see why Idol can't show this now, Jason's been singing it on tour all summer. I don't think copyright issues were the problem--I think Nigel Lythgoe didn't want anyone to see David's audition because the show would have been over then and there! There's no reason why it can't be shown now but I doubt we'll ever see it. But his peformance on Good Day Utah back in July is probably pretty close to what he did and he was wonderful!

Know what I think? Now that we've heard David sing "Crazy" (at last, at last), he probably did it similar to his audition & I'm willing to bet that the Producers made the excuse of not getting a clearance so they didn't have to show David's audition--it was so terrific (witnesses have said so) that Idol would have been over right then & there, no sense having a competition when you already know who the winner is. Idol started their manipulations with David almost immediately--sad!
