  • I think this was Wednesday 27th December 1995.

  • I worked for the Automobile Association at the time and we have thousands of calls and lots of people with totally frozen engines!

  • I think this was on Boxing day 1995.

  • Scotland is a very snowy country!

  • The reporter from Shetland in this clip, Adam Holloway, is now a Conservative MP!!

  • Its funny because here in wi when we get that kind of snow, we shovel and go about our business. In the UK, everybody freaks out. And -18 celcius-that's nothin. its -35 celcius here in the winter

  • In Wisconsin you have heavily insulated homes and often air and snow conditions are much drier than here.

Point is these conditions were at the extreme end of our expected range.

I expect most drivers there put on winter tyres too - that's unusual here because most lowland UK will only see a week or so of snow cover in the typical winter.

  • @sunnyd500 twat

  • @sunnyd500 jesus im sick of americans going oooh we get more snow, grow up. we have the gulf stream that warms the uk up anyway so if you know anything then yes obviously the uk is milder that other places on the same latitude. plus tyre chains are illegal so driving usually isnt an option.

  • -18 degrees centigrade! Good Grief! That particular year the weather was at both extremes, the summer being hot and dry, and lasting for weeks. Whereas the winter went on from December '95, until Mid-March '96.

  • i was 1 at dis time

  • And your ability to spell still hasn't improved in 15 years.

  • And your ability to COUNT still hasn't improved in *14* years.

  • What date in December 1995,4wdweather,did this snowy news bulletin first go out?

  • I think it was right at the end of the month, not sure exactly - as I wrote previously it only survived on a tape by chance.

There were a lot of burst pipes when the thaw came at new year because many workplaces had been unheated through Christmas week.

  • We've got plenty in Nailsworth tonight.

  • The days were we actually got snow! We hardly get any now.

  • I was 2 when this happend.

This must be either Arctic or Polar Maritime which means in December 1995, it will be dry and Cold and then in Summer 1996, it was warm and dry in Britain.

My Mum's Car was stuck up the hill because of Icy Roads.

  • Hello Mate Have U Got The ITV National Weather On This Video

  • No, it was pure chance I rescued it from an old video tape where I'd recorded it between a couple of films or something.

This was the first item on the news and I didn't get the whole bulletin.
