  • Bring a friend

  • I want to be ordered to his room

  • My God how curious it was to watch a movie with a brilliant performance by Alan Rickman... together with Kevin Costner's DULLNESS xD my God... Alan saved this movie.

    P.S.: MARIAN ARE YOU MAD?!?!

  • One of the best villains in movie history.

  • Severus Snape as The Sheriff of Nottingham

  • God this movie's awful.

  • @NotADood says u.

  • I'm so proud of this guy! Alan was Oscar material even back when this film was made!

  • to all who are excited for christmas... sorry alan called it off ;)

  • It's amazing how he gets to give most of the funniest lines and actions in the movie without making his character look less threatening. In fact they make the character all the more menacing and creepy! Awesome performance!

  • I was hoping till the very end that the Sheriff would stab Robin - preferably with a spoon. ..

  • "You, my room, 10:30, tonight!"

    "You, 10:45.... Bring a friend!"

    Love it!

  • 'no more merciful beheadings' xD

  • Who wants Robin when you can have the Sheriff???

  • And call off Christmas! NOOOOO!

  • "It's the only road to London you little ferret"

  • The term to "Steal a scene" was probably invented by Kevin Costner after making this film because he couldn't act his way out of a paper bag! And certainly not next to REAL actors like Alan Rickman and Morgan Freeman! Notice how well a scene is told when the lesser characters are just as good and not afraid of someone "stealing a scene". Costner needs to learn that ALL actors need to be good at their craft in order for a scene to work!

  • @Samsis2 Obviously you don't have a clue about acting. Costner is a good actor and he has improved over the years just like most good actors do. Freeman and Rickman are great actors. Rickman just isn't as good in "good" roles as Freeman. But Costner is a good actor. The main problem people like you have with a man like him is his looks.

  • @Millamoren1975 WTF? Did you even read what I wrote?? I have no interest in "pretty" actors who can't act. Costner is ok just not in scenes next to great actors like Rickman and Freeman. Geez!

  • @Samsis2 Well, the sign of a truly great actor is to give room for the other actor(s) in a scene to shine and besides that in this movie you can't compare the two since Rickman has all the cool shit to work with and Costner just has the hero-part which any moviefan knows is not a role where the actor gets to show off.

  • ? HAWKE!

  • Am I the only one who wished the Sheriff to win at the end?

  • call off Christmas?? haha xD

  • Well I guess Alan went threw puberty a little late!!xDD ahhaha his voice is high, but I still find him extremely sexy.

  • Yay Sheriff Hans!

  • Yay Sheriff Hans!

  • 1:03 Because Harry and Ron weren't expelled.

  • Someone needs a hug...Haha I love Alan Rickman. :D

  • ALAN RICKMAN IS THE BEST THING IN THIS MOVIE... : )

  • and call off Christmas! the ultimate evil! XDDD

  • I'm starting to doubt my memory now but I'm sure I saw a scene with Rickman storming through the castle in a rage and kicking either a dwarf or a peasant off a stool on his way. It made me laugh so much that I've since looked out for it when I've seen repeats on TV but it has disappeared. Does anyone remember this or is it a figment of my imagination?

  • OMG!!! Alan looks so young!! And this was 20 years ago :D

  • @EmilyMikuChan i think it's the hair, snape looks younger than him too.......lol

  • His voice isnt as deep? It's still hella sexy though;)

  • and call off christmas!

  • ahahaha and bring a friend XDDD

  • Yes he slithers, you should know =D

  • 0:56 Whoosh!

  • *Angrily and repeatedly stabs potato*

    ...

    "Something vexes thee?"

    LMAO

  • "Call of Chrismas"

    Die Hard, anyone?

  • Best part of the whole movie was watching Alan Rickman!

  • 1000 pigs died to fuel Alan in this film.

  • no more merciful beheadings...(didn't realize there were MERCIFUL beheadings...LOL

  • @DoUWanna007 I guess that would mean a REALLY SHARP axe or sword ... compared to a really dull one ... *yuck*

    :-D

  • "....AND CALL OFF CHRISTMAS!!"

  • "You little FERRET" XD

  • Alan Rickman has the ability to over act while making it look like he is not over acting.

    That takes skill.

  • I want that statue...

  • Dontcha just want him to take that "anger " out on you ??!!! Bring it AR ! Costner couldn't hold a candle to him.

  • I'm confused by how high his voice in this movie. =P

  • Happy birthday Alan. You reduced Costner to dust in this film. Bravo!

  • Happy Birthday! :-)

  • "SLYTHERS into the forest"? that'll be Draco then!

  • FUCK YOU KEVIN COSTNER! You can cut every fuckin Alan's brilliant scene but he'll always be the best!!!!

  • he is soooo gorgeous!!

  • "It's the only way to London, you little ferret."

Anyone else sense a Harry Potter reference?

  • @skylardanks

    no

  • Character actors like this should get Oscars every year. This man is so consistantly good in whatever he plays. Maybe one day he will get his due rewards but until then, cancel Xmas!

  • SNAPE!!

  • @LilHinataPie -.- stop that

  • Sounds good to me!! Would love to see the Sheriff kidnap and ravish Maid Marion! It would make up for Christmas having been cancelled. Kevin redeemed himself in DWW, but not doing much these days.

  • I reckon the only reason that film was made, was to raise Alan Rickman's profile as an actor. Why else would they cast Kevin Costner to play one of our most beloved Anglo Saxon folk heroes?! Somebody should create an alternate ending, where the Sheriff kills Robin Hood, marries Maid Marion and becomes Master of the Universe!!!

  • i love the deadpan humour of this scene... :)

  • merciful beheading- having Alan Rickman sing to you as you get your head chopped off so you have something nice to take your mind off the whole procedure.

  • Your opening slide about Rickman stealing the show was SO accurate! His scenes were about the only parts of this movie worth watching ... although Morgan Freeman was excellent too.

  • And cancel Christmas! great line.

  • Hey! Do anyone know, where I can buy the german version of the DVD????? Please help me!

    Lg

  • On paper and in the film the Sheriif in this version was never that well developed, he was a borderline pantomime villain but Rickman made something out of the performance that some couldn't have. He managed to steer clear of going too OTT and he delivered the best lines he undoubtedly recieved in the movie with aplomb!

  • " Something vexes thee?" Brilliant observation. And I absolutely love it when he goes "...and call of Christmas!" Best line in the entire movie.

  • "begging your pardon" :-D forget rickman the scribe steals the show

  • Indeed and call off christmas.. lol.. was looking for that one. thanks !

    cheers.

  • It's definitely worth it to see Snape having a hissy fit!

  • Oh yes, indeed Alan Rickman does steal the show in this film and well Alan Rickman was the reason why I wanted to see this film! And now I own it Ha! Man I love the christmas line.

  • Wrrrry so awesome Alan? *rolls around* >.<

  • he sure did steal the show (mercifully - couldn't handle Costner, an American being Robin Hood)

  • i love how he turned down this part twice, then when they finally convinced to him to play the sheriff, he just steals the show effortlessly like its just his job :P ....suppose it is

  • I can't believe we were supposed to be rooting FOR Kevin Costner AGAINST Alan Rickman.

  • my favorite scene !!! Alan Rickman is perfect !!!

  • Alan Rickman's so young...I only recognized him by his voice!

  • Were beheadings ever merciful?

  • This scene is better than the whole film Ridley Scott just released. Just so you know.

  • The weak link in Robin Hood Men In Tights was the sheriff. Because there was just no way they were gonna be able to find a dude whos funnier than Alan Rickman.

  • @remaftp You're absolutely right! That sheriff guy in Men in tights wasn't fit to hold a candle to Rickman. But who could in that role? ;)

  • @remaftp In german the name of the sheriff in robin hood men in thight was Sheriff Nuttingham, sheriff whoreham in english.

  • lol im related to a sheriff of nottingham, hope its not this one.

  • 10:30 and 10:45? He has to hurry a bit, I think^^

  • No more merciful beheadings...

  • Call of Christmas!!

  • "....and bring a friend"

  • "Something vexes thee?" lol

  • whats the name of the actor playing Sheriffs cousin?

  • They didn't even have clocks back then.

  • - And call of christmas.

    Haha! he's hillarious

  • We have an election coming up in May and i for one want Alan Rickman to be our next prime minister.

  • @Scooby71Doo Haha PLAN! I'd vote for him any day. ;)

  • The movie could have been even funnier. However, Kevin Costner, acting like a spoilt brat had a lot of Alan Rickmans scenes deleted from the film as he was annoyed how popular the Sherriff was. People at the original premiere screening before release were all cheering the sherriff and this totally pissed off costner who got the film edited and he refused to ever work with Rickman again.

  • @Scooby71Doo

Whoa-I knew Costner had a lot of scenes cut but he REFUSED to ever work with Rickman again???? Didn't know that O.o

  • @elppa284 yep, Costner really threw his toys out of his pram. I would have loved to have seen the unedited version of the film. Methinks Costner was jealous because Rickman was a better actor and did not have a lousy accent or hair that looked like a dead rat on his head.

  • @Scooby71Doo Brava that!

  • too funny lol. i don't know about that new Robin hood. I will see it but i don't think i can be as good as this one. Especially going agaist Alan Rickman's Nottingham...i don't know

  • "And call off Christmas!" looool that line gets me everytime! xD

He made this movie, I was truly rooting for the bad guy :D

  • why does alan rickman sound so different? his voice sounds so different! why?

  • I think it's because he's quite young there

  • @usersm9484 its not diffrent He talks the same way like in HP or Sweeney Todd or Die Hard 1 I can totally here it this is just sped up

  • Hahaha, I love his reaction when he sees the scar on himself depicted on that statue.

  • "And call of Christmas!" hahahahaha

  • Mmmmm..he's so sexy when he's angry...Xxxxx

  • he's so FUNNY when he's angry

I think he does that specially. he turns serious character into comic. very insidiously. I love that

  • @Darklordsslave He's so sexy full stop!

  • My fav but us where he knocks the drink into his face and when he calls him a ferret! I also LOVE the bit when he tries to rub the drawn on scar off of the statue.

  • its so funny when he knocks the drink into his face :D

  • Whenever my Dad is a little overstrained with stuff he tells to himself what´s up next. And he always ends with the words "And call off christmas" ^^

  • You, my room, 10:30 tonight. You, 10:45... bring a friend!

  • @ShyteKreek46 clearly the sheriff likes a bit of a orgy when he's stressed out lol

  • That poor scribe !!! just for relaying the news he gets his face splashed with wine, this never fails to make me laugh

  • Alan is the reason that this movie is remarkable. Without his sherrif it would just be another action movie-good.... but not amazing, without him:)

  • I love this movie! You uploaded one of the best scenes in it too!

  • I absolutely agree with you! The whole movie is brilliant, but I'm always cracking up at his last lines in this scene!

  • this guy's ACE!

"call of christmas " is absolutely classic!

  • you know i just had a thought that that line " call off christmas" was another of his improvised moments and the editors kept it in coz they liked it

  • i just thought it only takes him 15 minuets to have sex with one girl??? noo shurly not

  • Call off Christmas LOL

  • LOL, i love how he lines up the "entertainment" for the night...U, ten thirty tonight, u ten fourty-five...and bring a friend.

  • how can you not love this film? hehe

  • Rickman totally steals this film, I absolutely love him, And this scene's great, thanks for posting! :)

  • Yes he does! I've read somewhere that a huge chunk of his scenes was removed during post-production - whysoever... lol ;)

  • @LadyViolet7 absolutely correct, a lot of his scenes were removed because Costner threw a tantrum at how popular the sherriff was. He has never worked with Rickman since.

  • mon acteur préféré ^^

  • I remember when I was 'grown up' and watched this again.. weren't really sure if he DID say: "And call of christmas!" seems like such a blooper thing.. but it's great! :D
