Its all about contact patch. a bike has about 3 inchs over 2 wheels at best, a performance car will have 4 x 10-12 inchs. that means more power to the ground and more traction. it also = better brakeing (and im talking performance cars here not ordinary ones). what a bike gives is bang for your buck. speed without the $200k + price tag. it takes a $100k car to beat a $17k bike.

For most of the year it is a public toll road where anyone with a road registered vehicle can drive around the circuit at unlimited speed. It is circulated in a clockwise direction only. Some days the "track" is booked for private testing such as Nissan did for their new Skyline. Vehicles must keep right and only pass on left.

They are friends and are experienced "Ringers". The Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki liter bikes have all had turns at being competitive at production road races such as the Isle Of Man and world super-stock championships. All the current production bikes are way more motorcycle than 99% of riders. Look up 750 RC30 Honda.

I've track raced both cars and bikes and neither of these two are anywhere near the limit. A car will easily outbrake and out-corner a bike but a bike will drill the car in acceleration and top speed. (The Westfield 7 has the aerodynamics of a brick by the way.) Hey guys, have a look at them. They aren't racing or racing aggressively. I'd say they were friends having fun. You don't see the Super 7 jumping around fighting to maintain traction, you don't see the bike utilizing the straights to over take.
These guys weren't seriously and aggressively racing. Several times throughout the video you see the bike come right up behind the super 7 on a straight, and he eases off of the throttle.
Also, if you went to the track with a friend, and wanted to film it, and one of you had a camera on the front, who is going to be behind so that he can film it?
Additionally if you want more proof, have a look at the last leg of the race where there's the final straight. The bike comes right up behind him, and then cruises at a steady speed. He could have easily taken him there.

Maybe yo can outrun me on a curcuit with perfect tarmac long straights. In my videos on tarmac theres wintertires on the car and theres patches of snow on the side of the road. Ive outrunned a R1 on this road 3 times on this stretch. I had to wait for him 3 times to come along...

I knew Joerund, the rider, via email. We talked frequently about riding and videography. The only reason he made this video was for the fun of it. He could have passed several times. But it was fun to see where the car was faster than the bike throughout the whole course.
He loved that track. And he died at that track after crashing in Pflantzgarten on oil dumped by a car with a blown engine.
Took him forever to pass that Lotus. I don't know motorcycles, but I know the Lotus, but from what I do know about bikes and I'm quite puzzled. From reading comments and my personal speculation, it seems that the bike could've passed the Lotus at almost any time.
If the biker told me, "any day, any condition, any road," then I'd take up on the race offer, but otherwise, I can't see a car beating a motorcycle, unless the driver was exceptionally skilled and the biker was moderate, poor, or a beginner.
It's Nurbugring, an ex GP track that is now used mostly for people to drive their road vehicles on. It's open to the public and any one can use it as long as they pay. The course is over 22 km long and has over 200 corners I think. The rider and the driver knew each other and staged this video. The rider was only at 8/10 so was only a quick blast for fun. Not a race. You can't do a complete lap as the exit is before the start.
The record for production vehicles is just under 7 minutes.

Actually it's not a publicity stunt for the Automaker. These people knew each other and were just toolin around at 9/10ths. The car is capabale of higher cornering speeds than bike but of course the bike more than compensdates by acceleration on the straights. It's a public road and has little runoff. Not a road for absolute balls out racing.

Maybe yo can outrun me on a curcuit with perfect tarmac long straights. In my videos on tarmac theres wintertires on the car and theres patches of snow on the side of the road. Ive outrunned a R1 on this road 3 times on this stretch. I had to wait for him 3 times to come along...

No way man - $12,500 wouldn' even get u an R6. (Unless you went to USA where vehicles are cheaper - but then you'd get import tax bringing it back anyway. And currency conversion means it would end up the same).
And the same thing would apply to the Lotus Super 7 anyway - so it would still be around the same cost as the R1 - wherever you buy it.

I knew Joerund, the rider, via email. We talked frequently about riding and videography. The only reason he made this video was for the fun of it. He could have passed several times. But it was fun to see where the car was faster than the bike throughout the whole course.
He loved that track. And he died at that track after crashing in Pflantzgarten on oil dumped by a car with a blown engine.

It's Nurbugring, an ex GP track that is now used mostly for people to drive their road vehicles on. It's open to the public and any one can use it as long as they pay. The course is over 22 km long and has over 200 corners I think. The rider and the driver knew each other and staged this video. The rider was only at 8/10 so was only a quick blast for fun. Not a race. You can't do a complete lap as the exit is before the start.
The record for production vehicles is just under 7 minutes.

Actually it's not a publicity stunt for the Automaker. These people knew each other and were just toolin around at 9/10ths. The car is capabale of higher cornering speeds than bike but of course the bike more than compensdates by acceleration on the straights. It's a public road and has little runoff. Not a road for absolute balls out racing.

That rider was Jorund Seim. He was an expert at the Nurburgring and would often videos for people such as this one.
He died on July 7th while riding the Ring.
Do a quick search on him and you will find lots of his videos and memorials to him.

Based on his driving the motorcycle was just trying to keep up not pass. He was not in the power band most of the time. Took the wrong line thru the corner and exited slower than expected. Can't see how this is a race, just a drive on the track.
