What amazes me about China is that every major city or even smaller city I type has some amazing scenery like Guangzhou or Changsha. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll be teaching English over there.

I've been there 2 years ago. It was southern most I went in China. Nice small (small by Chinese standards) city, and I liked it a lot. Xiamen is another good place to visit.

I've been to both. They are equally awesome cities. Nanning is more quaint in a traditional Chinese way. Xiamen, as a former treaty port, is more cosmopolitan.

i born in nanning and moved to usa when i was young, i miss it so much, i wish i have a time machine so i can go back, the old nanning is better than new one, lots old houses are crash, i live in central of the city btw, the road is call ren ming ru :-)

Mandarin is primarily a second language there. Initially, children learn and speak the local dialect (cantonese group). Once entering the education system, its all Mandarin. Mandarin pronunciation in Guanxi/Nanning is usually far short of perfect.
