If you are successful in doing that and people enjoy listening to you play, that's all that matters. If you think Flea is a poser, then why are you watching his video in the first place? @SomeBassistGuy Flea's technique is completely wrong, I mean, the right hand should be in another position, with your thumb up, and the pop should be done with the index finger (you can use also the other fingers to pop, but in a different way, it's a bit complicated) and also, as result of his wrong technique, the phrases he plays are trivial. I'm quite sure that Flea never studied music in his life, or at least he never studied how to play bass.
