  • I doubt this guy has a facolneer's license... He has inadequate facilities, and obtaining of an appropriate mew is vital for getting a falconry license. I understand that falconry is cool, and i plan to get my license at some point, but you should make sure that you have a license too, for i know for fact that it is illegal in the united states to practice falconry without a license. But keep up the training with your bird, it seems pretty loyal already!

  • Man that is so cool.

  • has she/he ever crapped in your house?

  • SORRY! but i live in europa, and i missed its really kestrel

  • sorry i missed it!s right

  • it's a falco subbuteo, not a kestrel...

  • @fuszinyuszi No Sir I am afraid you are mistaken. That is a Falco sparverius, commonly referred to as the American Kestrel.

  • whats the weight of a common kestrel pls ??

  • @inter670 Kestrels display sexual dimorphism. A adult male will be a little smaller than an adult female. Male roughly weighing in at 100-125 grams (little under 4.4 oz) Females more likely 125-170 grams (little under 6.oz)

  • can u plz tell me that do we have to cover his head all the time

  • can u plz tell me that do we have to cover his head all the time

  • may i know what u used for the bait? just to give me some ideas on the variation.. thanks

  • @babynavy771 If by bait you mean tid bits of meat. I was using either starling or mouse.

  • @sohighlyunlikely where do you get these bits of meat? Im interested in starting falconry but no idea where to start or what ever and what sort of price can you get a good beginners bird for

  • @infernodood3 When you are seeking your falconry license from the state. Ask if trapping starlings is legal in your state. Most states have no protection laws for the 3 breeds of invasive bird in the USA Pigeons, Starlings and European House Sparrows.

  • tnx for the vid.. im from the phils. and i'd like to do falconry this year.. i hae phil.falconet now..do you think it can be trained as you do? my problem was i dont hav much time for it, coz i hav work 8hrs/day and only night is the time for me to tame it..tnx hope u find suggestions for me.. i may hav a kestrel maybe this week that will given to me by my friends..

  • Initial training and most daily flights can easily be done indoors but I would think you may need a couple of day a week of outside flights and/or hunting to have a successful hunting kestrel.

  • why this song? of all songs..

  • I had put 2 different songs in the background and YouTube refused both on copyright infringement. So I just picked something out of the YouTube audio swap. If you see something better in audio swap. I will consider changing it.

  • A good film for training. Thank you once more.

  • Cool insight into falconry. A friend and I are thinking about getting into it but know it takes up a lot of time. How long did it take you to get your bird from when you started your apprenticeship? Thanks.

  • It took me about a year. I found a falconry sponsor, hunted with him every Sunday for 3 months over the winter. Then in the summer met all the requirements to get my license and got a bird the next fall.

  • Oh, thanks so much for replying. How many hours do you spend with the bird a day?

  • 6hrs a day for the 1st week to tame down then 3hrs or more a day for a 3 weeks while training then about 1hr a day after that to keep up training and tameness. not including hunting with the bird once or twice a week.
