This is definitely not Metallica. One, the drums are completely different from how Lars plays his. I barely heard any cymbals, which Lars adds in frequently. Even back in their older years, he didn't drum like this. And that voice definitely isn't James. James doesn't dare growl like that anymore, as he's not too keen on losing his voice again. And it's just too deep. Current Hetfield tries to sing higher, not lower.

Not saying it's not a good cover, it's just not Metallica.

First of all, at the first instance the actual snare was left off by accident.

Lars thought it was a cool sound and they left it off for the album.

I think it's a cool sound too, I know it's a bit too much for all the time.

But just for the sound and theme of that album it's quite original and awesome.

Sure it's more Nu-Metalish, but it's an awesome album full of rage.

People just keep demanding "old MetallicA" too much.

While I myself became a fan because of that, even though becoming a fan in like 2001.

This man be talking sense. The snare sound in St Anger wrecks the whole album, it sounds like a basketball bouncing.

The stupid thing is that it's not that hard to get rid of, the band I work with had that exact snare sound come through in the first mix of a track they recorded. We just mentioned it to the producer and it was EQ'd out in the next mix. I can't believe Metalllica couldn't get it right.
