Fu@#&n awsome. Rock n roll would not have the same edge without The Animals. I so thankful for growing when all these great bands were fresh in their careers.
How out of tune and SHITTY can you play a guitar solo and ruin a tune. What a pile of shit compared to the original. Listen back to the original at 2:48. The origination of the English guitar sound, i.e. Mick Taylor, etc.
Wow! Pretty good live version of this song. Nice to hear him still belting em out. I was a teenager when Sky Pilot came out. Hearing this song still brings those dark clouds back. I had friends who died in the Vietnam war.
The song is about the dilemma faced by the armed forces chaplain(sky pilot). He is faced with the problem of trying to give encouragement to soldiers whose job it is to kill, while he must live with his credo of "Thou shalt not kill". It was powerful then and it still is. Real life stuff.
He owns this song and he can do what he wants with it..... He is a soldier and he survived where as others did not that were around him... I would back off any smart ass comments in regard to his age looks or performance..Listen to the original if you want and it is great.. When you found a radio station that was williing to play the full version you should be able to distinguish as Great Song and the engineering as well can I get an AMEN
Err? It is his song, it evolves as he does. A song is not a time stamp it is a birth and then it grows, as Eric does, it has matured. Bravo! Eric you are still an Animal.
Eric is in his golden years, but for that age he still sounds fantastic. He is a legend. His voice range has changed accordingly, still sends an impact. Its all good.
My boy is in Afgan, 101st Air born. He survived 3 IEDs. Have played this song so so many time since it's release, over the years. It's meaning is the same but now realy personal. Like Eric we all change as each second ticks on the clock, he did great. Pray for peace!
@cromeans1 Praying for him and 101st Airborne! I was there as Canadian Task Force Chaplain supporting all troops in and out of wire! They need someone with a different perspective to provide support because war traumatizes! God grant us peace!

"Sky Pilot" fut la chanson favorite des GIs au Vietnam, tout comme "We've Gotta Get Out Of This Place"...
@BillKiernan, Eric has been around musically for more than 45 years, without those 45 years we would not have been blessed with the great catalogue of music which has graced the world, he is a vast contributor to the history of rock n roll & he is what he is today & he is still great, a voice which has grown to be deeper & richer & with current band's who compliment him, he has left his mark whether it be 1960's or 2000's, he remains one of the greatest frontmen of blues/rock n roll - ever.

@magusmagic2 AMEN brother. I could not have said it better. Must be a misguided younster. I thank my lucky stars that the real rock icons can still sing. Why is it ok to see a 70+ yr old country star play forever and people bitch about the old rockers. His voice is as good as it was in 1964. Now some guys voices are all blown out. But the vast majority of them can still bring it night in and night out.
@BillKiernan haha..but a very strong sexy voice and its actually nice to see bands who last this long...too bad other band members hold grudges and don't give the geriatric mode a chance
The keyboardist and drummer. Are they by any chance the original group members? Impressive if so, regarding the reasons they broke up. I do like this song though. The Animals are legendary.
@Icecream8451 Eric is the only original Animal in this clip.John Steel was the original drummer and still has his own line up on the road,Alan Price original keyboards still plays gigs.Chas Chandler sadly died,Hilton Valentine lives and plays in the usa
@Icecream8451 I doubt if Alan Price, the original Animals keyboardist, ever got back with Eric Burdon after the former took all the songwriting royalties for "House Of The Rising Sun" even though it was a collaborative effort from all the original band members. Apparently EB and the others were very pi_ ssed -off with AP. Not sure about the drummer.
My guess is he's still got what it takes to put the original subtle power into it, but since he is in his august years needs to show he can deliver the punch. And deliver it in spades he does! Hope I have one tenth the power he does at that age.
Part Three: Other voices, such as Roger Daltrey of The Who, who's voice has been tremendous for many years, is finally starting to sound a little weak (and I never thought that would happen). Eric's voice is better than all of them. Thank you Mr. Burdon for a GREAT concert and for more than forty-five years of outstanding music.
Part Two: I'm amazed at the tonal quality and strength of his voice. He still sounds like he used to when he was young, compared with other rock singers' voices that either sound weak or different from when they were younger. Some of the great rock voices, such as Ian Gillan (Deep Purple), Steve Walsh (Kansas), and Robert Plant (Led Zepplin) were blown out in the eighties.
Part One: I just saw Eric last night (9-13-09) at the American Music Theater in Lancaster, Pa. Wow! He really put on a great show! His voice is stronger now than it was when he was younger. It seemed that he really didn't need for his voice to be miked because it seemed like it could have filled the hall without it. I would say that his voice at 68 is one of the few rock voices that have withstood the ravages of time.
i always liked his music as a kid. now 40yrs later i still love it. ive got some of his music still on vinyl, and ive got all his greatesr hits on cd. hes a legend!! tony prov

Sure...about WWII but the message is still the same. War sucks...especially when instigated under false premises. Viet Nam was my generation's war. Same wasted results, same excuses, same lies by the government.
