you just answered my ques also. i make the ball jump like 10 to 14 inches lol when i hit it firmly. could you explain why the cue ball slides on the cloth and how you have to hit it for it to slide like that.
@LouisHardwick If you are making the ball jump, it is because you are striking too low on the cue ball. Aim a little higher. If you find this too difficult, try "tricking yourself" by pretending your final stroke is just a practice stroke. Also if you use a striped ball at first, it gives you a visual target to aim for.
@LouisHardwick try youtube this video "sense & nonsense of cueball draw", it explains much more in technical details. Making the ball jump constitutes as a miscue and it is very common, hitting the ball a little higher solves the problem temporarily but does not help you realize the root of the problem.
If you want to get better at pool you must dig each problem in greater details, this video is good, but is only for very very very beginner players. We need more pro videos rather than these.
