@gvrznw That accident was caused by stupid pilots who let their kid to fly the plane, autopilot disconnected (today it probably has sound warning in that situation too). Btw A310 wasnt fly by wire plane, more like boeing.
The fact is that pilot error is number one cause for airplane crashes, when only very few accidents have happened because of computer malfunction.
The fact is that Airbus computers make flying safer when they prevent pilot from exceeding safe limits.
@Pvjinflight in my opnion pilots and computers must work together,if you think about the fly-by-wire limitations(no descent angle more than 15°,no climb or turns over 45° and no stall)they are all very welcome,in the other side, you can see the rudson river...the autopilot couldn`t land the A320 and save all the lives on board, and many other cases,so...together is the best way!
Airbus A380 made by German, England, France and Spain , with final assembly in Toulouse in France so this Airbus A380 is made by The 4 countries of Europe, A380 Airlines - Air France, Emirates, Lufthansa, Qantas, Singapore Airlines.
@MadelnJapan Many more countries deliver parts though, e.g. Belgium: flaps, hydrolics, that wingbox thingy on the A380, black boxes Holland: the glare...
Both the A380 and the 747-8 are great planes. Both use the most up-to-date technology. Howerver, the 747-8 is more than 10 percent lighter per seat than the A380 and will consume 11 percent less fuel per passenger than the 555-seat airplane. That translates into a trip-cost reduction of 21 percent and a seat-mile cost reduction of more than 6 percent, compared to the A380.
@rochen214 only the inner engines are equipped with reveresers because the outboard engines often hang over soft shoulders. to prevent them from sucking dirt they have no reversers.
Very interesting. When it comes to thoroughness and technical competence the Germans are second to none. The French are good at having romantic big picture visions (Napolean etc.) but the Germans are much more 'feet on the ground' and 'doing' with technical integrity and skill. Without them (the Germans) Airbus wouldn't really be functioning.

@fsxmasters The outer 2 engines are already above the grass and could/would raise dust and stones from there, which could damage the engines and the plane.
Most runways are built for the 747, which "only" needs about 45m for the engines, the A380 of course more...
Another reason is the weight of the thrust reversers, 2 engines with thrust reverser are enough..
Airbus will always be better then Boeing in terms of technology and fly-by wire controlling. However the downside is Airbus wants to take the pilot as much as possible out of the plane, so its a matter of opinion, I personally go for the Airbus!!

Yeah...but Boeing made the first ever Jumbo jet....that too at a time when no more than 70 passengers could be seated in a custom aircraft....
So...u cant really say...Boeing is the past.....Had there been no Boeing....the Airbus A-380 model wouldn't have come into existence.....'coz 75% of the A380 is based on the tech of the 747....
I dont know from where did you get that unreal info about the 75%..
The truth is that boeing is older and its name sounds famous. But the real aviators knows that airbus planes basically have much more tech, are less expensive are more economic. The future A350 will be the best comercial aircraft ever built, get the project and you will understand.
well the design is based of the 747 but not the tech. Technology is way more advanced now than it was when the 747 was built. the A380 has the newest technology that exists. So i would say 75% is based on the design not the tech.
@trancebeliever I love Airbus but I dunno... the 787 is a pretty wicked plane. the A350 has some good competition. the Airbus aircraft are highly computerized and when you move the stick you aren't actually moving the surfaces as you think. when you roll you're adding roll "rate", and pitch is based on G force. the computer decides how best to make the aircraft do what you want based on speed, altitude, etc and then commands the surfaces to move. some love it and some hate it. i'm a fan of both!
@trancebeliever If you're really into aviation, you shouldn't really care who is better. A plane is a plane and I'm honoured to fly any plane I can get my hands on.
I flew on A380 Emirates airlines from NY to Dubai non stop in economy class. The plane is super quiet very low engine noise almost like nothing. Wider economy seats with more leg rooms than other planes. 13 hour flight didnt feel any jet lag or wasnt even tired.
Excellent aircraft, all airlines should get it for long haul flights.
umm, truth is god only knows when the first 747-8i will be delivered. The A380 is already flying high and is so far an aviation success. Well done Airbus.

its designed like you see, with only two reversers, it is caused by the distance between the outboard engines compared to the runway distance

@papan1990 75% of A380 design based on 747 lol what a load of crock.
The A380 is an all new design nothing like it has been built before. It has full double decks.
The 747 with only a partial upper deck is also its own design. An older 40 year old design.
With todays technology and engineering capability we can now build the A380-800. In the 1960s they could only build 747.
