Doc, I`ve been having a loose belly since I got my first period ( by the way, I`m a girl :-P) and I`ve been checking any malformation of my reproductive organs ( utero, ovarios, coño, etc) with my ginecologist, but there`s nothing wrong with them. I am a male. I had a motorcycle accident a little more than a year ago. I had an emergency surgery leaving me with a bad scar from my chest to my belt line. After I recovered from the accident I herniated six different places along the scar line. I now have mesh covering my entire abdominal area. @zipzap2690 Do you see scarring in this video? Or are you talking about another technique. The length of the scar geerally depends on the amount of loose skin. If there is minimal laxity the scar can be extremely short (under 2 inches). However, if you have extremely lax skin, the scar may need to go completely around your body.

@doofusdad It doesnt matter if one sees a scarring in this video or not...It is a scientific fact that any abdominoplasty surgery will leave a very visible scar whatsoever...simple as that...Concealing it under the bikini line doesnt changee the fact that the scar is there..

@torero34 Of course they need more answers than this. They need to schedule a consultation with a surgeon to discuss the procedure in greater detail. This is only to demonstrate the muscle repair. IF you thought that this was all inclusive than you are misinformed. There are scars and they do lie beneath the undergarment and most patients would prefer these scars to the stretch marks and bulging belly which does not respond to diet and exercise.

when you say "muscle repair", does it mean the same as "muscle alignment" or "muscle realignment" ? Is it the same thing? And one last question: after the procedure, it will still remain a bulge of soreness above the incision... the question is for how long? One-two months? The confusion is that I lost a lot of weight and Im a very active guy, while on the rest period, I may get frustrated with that "pouch" as a weight gain. @brazucalinc08 Yes. Muscle repair=realignment=alignment.S­oreness depends on your return to activity and muscle re-education with institution of core strengthening exercises that reinforce rather than stress the repair. Weight gain will also stress the repair and cause tenderness.

I really should be a size 12/14, which i would be extremely happy with, but for now I look about 5 months pregnant. This can be quite p[ainful. We tend to use a pain pump which significantly diminishes the pain. The incision varies on the amount of associated loose skin. The muscle repair itself can be performed through small incisions if that is all that is required. Results are visible almost immediately but we generally recommend that you avoid strenuous activity for 6 weeks.

That may work for you. However, some people tire of working out 2-3 hours a day and seeing no improvement in their muscle separation. The patient in this case ran marathons and participated in triathalons. She was frustrated with her muscle bulge. This is similar to cleaning your teeth or brushing them all you want. They may become sparkling white but you will never fix that gap until you have braces placed. Thank you for your thoughts and the ability to explain.

Anything is possible but this is performed on muscle, skin and fat NOT the reproductive organs. Having said that, we usually perform this operation on women whose pregnancy caused this condition and do not wish to have any more children. IF you plan on having children, wait until you are done then consider the procedure. But for your information, I have had women successfully have children after the procedure with the natural consequences of stretching the skin and the repair.

We usually use permanent sutures but their effects are not always permanent. This may be difficult to understand but imagine grafting two tree limbs together. You need permanent duct tape to hold them until they "heal" together. Eventually you don't need the tape even though it is considered permanent. This is similar to the muscles. The permanent stitches hold them together until they heal & stay together. However, if you gain weight or become pregnant the muscles can separate. Is that clear?
