  • I was expecting a little more than this from toshishiro obata. Hes swinging his sword like a bat!

  • @boratstuntdouble nontheless, cutting with a saber is pretty hard. Strengh angle and technic. It may looks like it (I agree), but I suppose thats because hes putting alot of power in his cuts

  • TATSU!!

  • What is he cutting? Hows that carped called?

  • @markusstyler that "carpet" is called tatami, a carpet made out of rice fro mwhat I can get ( Maybe the plant or something like it). They use it in many kendo and slicing weapons martial arts because it is a great representation of the density of a human body. Just roll a tatami on a bamboo stick, and it makes a great representation of a human leg.

  • slow as fuck!

  • The obvious and enjoyable nostalgia of a grand master doing it the 'old way'! However, I 'think' I could do this with my modern chain-saw just as effectively - but not as quickly or artistically!

  • seems like a prn act

  • He played in Showdown in Little Tokyo

  • this asian guy is a actor,right?

he is always bad guy who is killed by good guy, right?

  • Wow, smooth, clean cuts. This man has spent many hours to be this good. I would like to see some of the people with negative comments try the same cuts......From far away.

  • The things I would give to be his student...

  • @Artelmis You can actually. You can take his classes in Los Angeles. Not sure if he teaches classes around the world, but Los Angeles seems to be his main teaching place. Only for $100 a month :D

  • I remember my first beer.

  • i dont know whats with all this "bamboo's not tied down. it's mounted down at the bottom. if anyone knew anything about keto demo's they'd know this

  • He looks a little like Master Betty.

  • i have seen amateur's on youtube do better

  • sound is not sync

  • Beautiful. (^_^)

  • I'm typing out of ignorance, but why is what he's doing hard? Is he really skilled? If it were a dull blade I'd totally get it, because speed+technique would be doing the cutting. But his blade is ridiculously sharp and it seems to be doing all the work. Some cuts didn't even seem so clean.

  • @gargamel6699 if you want to see just how technique works, and precision, check out the samurai who cut a bb in half while it was being shot at him. thats technique for you.

  • @havock202

WOW, that was indeed amazing! But that guy's skill is without a doubt amazing. My question regarding THIS video remains.

  • @gargamel6699 well you must not do shinkendo or any other swordmanship. he cuts very good. thats why he was 7 time national japan champ. there are 10 precepts to good swordmanship. such as grip and blade angle most new cutters will knock the mat over and just smack it because it takes time to perfect the 10 precepts. also kaiso has very good credentials. read his bio online. also the way he cut that bamboo without splitting it is impressive. whatch other cutters and maybe you will understand.

  • I would kick a puppy to be his student.

  • @boostedbuick98 I would kick your ass to be his student. You have no honor, if I saw you in person, you would taste my blade

  • @Armornone fuck honour. no lube.

  • @13igBird You will taste my blade..... by blade, I mean my sword.

  • @Armornone i dont think people usually use lube in oral anyways

  • @13igBird The only thing going in your oral is my katana

  • @boostedbuick98 live in LA and pay $100 a month.

  • Obata Sensei is a true master of the martial way

  • love him as master tatsu in the movie teenage mutant ninja turtles !

  • This man is my inspiration

  • Wow, that was exactly how warriors fought bought then...

  • NEVER LOWER YOUR EYES TO AN ENEMY!

  • super nice !!

  • hes really good at cutting sticks...

  • @nowadazeband and football players are good at kicking balls around what is your point sir?

  • @nowadazeband : bamboo mats are the consistency of a human limb.

  • what a clean cut

  • It's a little out of sync...

  • wow, aren't these guys a little old to be playing with bamboo swords?

  • @leopower7 Its a demonstration. Real swords (even if they were un-sharpened) could cause serious injury if a mistake were to happen. Better safe than sorry.

  • @GrecoWrestlerNJ70 yeah, i was just kidding. in reality, i think these demonstrations are just a brush to his ego, and are pathetic.

  • japanese sword is not sharper than for e.g. damascus swords. katana's brilliance isn't that it is just sharp. it's the combination of sharpness and resilience gained by combining high and low carbon steel into one blade.

  • @jubitoftw hahahaha! are you kidding me? The Katana is by far the sharpest sword ever made. It was folded over 250 times. THe Katana is sharp enough to cleanly cut through multiple bodies at once. I think it even holds the record of going through 10 carcasses. Damascus is also a type of metal that was crafted into swords. Usually for Persian warriors. Also many Piercing-type weapons. So again I will say that the Katana was and is the Sharpest Weapon that ever was or will be made.

  • @vampiricgothique666 folding the steel doesn't make it sharper, but stronger. it's the polishing that makes it sharp and smooth. also, folding a katana more than cca 20 times (depending on type folding of the blade) makes no sense because it no longer makes it stronger (but, rather, weaker). sorry to rain on your parade but these are facts and they are easy to check. all the best, over & out.

  • @jubitoftw Well the only thing your right about is folding it doesn't make it sharper. However the stronger the blade the sharper it can be made. And I know what I am talking about. A real, Samurai Katana is folded 250 times. That is fact.

  • is this battle or some kid tutorial show !??

  • dude thats the fucking guy from teenage mutant ninja turtles-he played shedders right hand man tatsu

  • @charlieoath777 yep. Thats Tatsu, you should look up on the guys stats man... he's a fucking master swordsman. Current world-record holder of the Kabutowari as well :)

  • @charlieoath777

your totally right that is him

  • 4:33 TWO OWNED IN ONE

  • i'm a little disappointed he bent that middle bamboo stand towards the end. his blade was not level.

  • i think he was in the first teenage mutant ninja turtles?

  • Very nice cutting...respect

  • 35 people dont have lifes

  • non sense

  • "Go. Play. Have fun."

  • this guy is a true master.awesome

  • 1 fight with Mr. Tanakanabe and he is dead u.u

  • i thought (at least traditionaly) the "matts" wher supposed to be dryd and then resoaked rice stalks.

  • new from Demtel the Toshishiro

it slices, it dices and if you call now we'll throw in a set of steak knives absolutely free

  • how would a samurai faight an enemy with a shield ? ? ? ? someone like a spartan warrior? ? ? and . . . plis dont take seriusly that shity series of deadliest warrior. . . if anyone have an idea I would like to hear it.

  • @perrocalientucho Dunno they were from different times and places, theyd probably use agility to overcome the shield, you know like duck and roll around it to attack the still turning enemy. Just a thought

  • @perrocalientucho i believe u speak spanish because of ur name so i will tell u in spanish so its easier for both

  • @perrocalientucho

deception. as soon as the spartan makes a move he dies if he has a sheild, step to the side that he isnt holding it with and go for the best spot.

and i agree with you deadliest warrior.

the one with the apachy indian, and gladiator was a joke.

  • @DjAlgis I don't believe they had movie camera's until the late 19th century, so you must be about 130 years old to have seen a real "decent samurai" at work.

  • a sword cuts as it is "pulled". not out of the scabbard but while cutting. to demonstrate this to yourself, you can wrap your hand around the blade and squeeze. nothing happens. however if you pull the blade through your hand, it will cut. you can cut a man in half this way. this guy needs a bat, not a sword.

  • @drunkenwarrior14500

the hand thing works becuz the blade is stationary if it is moving that doesent aply, try this take a razor sharp blade and push it into your hand (its probly gonna cut ya so dont) now take same blade and have it hit your hand going say 40 mh regardless of weather its pulld or not and there ya go. ever hear of a 3 body blade? cant do that if you pull the sword.

  • BAN KAI!!!!!!!!!

  • woe shit... he cuts shit better then me is for sure, i hope i get that good some day

  • "called the samurai" how original :P

  • @DjAlgis what you are used to seeing actually is based on the sword, not much skill. you see these new "competitive grade" katanas aren't made like a katana should be made. The Katanas that Obata would use are made for combat, and made to cut through 3 inch thick bamboo, and are strong powerful swords that wont break. the Ji of the blade is usually slightly curved and they have lots of niku. The swords you see used by other people online are made to cut tatami. its usually thin like a machete.

  • chicks shouldn't play with swords :T

  • @Vyse500 o yeah and men should maybe? that's plain sexist...didn't you know that a samurai's wife was thought how to fight to defend their home too..

  • @furvuscorvus and quite effectively at that... since most soldiers were conscripts with little training, these trained women were scary to say the least :D

  • @DjAlgis dude, that's free standing bamboo. its not tied town or anything. there is a reason why toshishiro obata was multiple time cutting champion in Japan and the United States. He's just the best there is.

  • @Chiperdada Isao Machii is better, i think.

  • @Chiperdada

    Nice backhand.

  • @Chiperdada

Apparently you and Webster have VERY different definitions of freestanding.

  • Comment removed

  • @Chiperdada I don't understand when you say its "free standing bamboo". the middle of the bamboo is stuck on a smaller post mounted on the wooden stand... thats why you see so much shaking when the bamboo mat is cut.

  • @vnninjas i apologize, there is another video where he is cutting up bamboo that is balanced on a stand that doesn't use a peg. I mixed up my videos.

  • @vnninjas The post that the bamboo is mounted on is barely enough to keep it standing. If you barely pushed the bamboo, then it would fall off.

  • @DjAlgis if you mean the last part really look at him i don't think he's swings look more balanced as if he was fighting a group not his fastest or strongest but just enough to get it done

  • Katana has no CHANCE WITH POLISH HUSSAR SABRE FROM 1630!!!

The best white weapon ever is Polish cavalry hussar sabre from 1630!!! It is the best fencing weapon ever!!!

    look here:

    /watch?v=pHP4pSQvbxk

    /watch?v=n6IcZnx1flI

    /watch?v=voxErBJyFuw

  • @GregorMar

i checked out the sabres very nice how ever the styl and speed at witch they wher used..... nope.

as soon as the oponent makes a move you should counter and kill in les than a second did not see that there.

  • @MrBoneStripper98 Look on this samples below, any other white weapon is not so quick as sabre and fore sure any sword even Japanese katana. See yourself how quick polish hussar sabre is. This last video lasts only 15 seconds can you count how many blows fencers gave to each other? Any Japanese fencer wouldn’t have a chance with master of polish hussar sabre.

    /watch?v=oo0z_R59P8M

    /watch?v=LzHYqehsAYA

  • @GregorMar

i have watched a few vids with the sabre you mentiond, and wasent impressd. could you send me some links to better ones, cuz you tube has a thing for providing some very good but also some very shitty vids.

  • @MrBoneStripper98 And look on blows that Japanese fencer gives, most of them is from behind of head, when those plows are powerful but very slow and they expose all chest and abdomen. Fencer with saber in les than a second will cut guts out before fencer with katana will end his move.

  • @GregorMar

i have watched a lot of katana sword work and thats not very true considering they wher mostly attaking oppnents that wher armored they sruck where it was the most efficiant. and if that be the neck, abdomen, leg, arm, ect. ect. this is just a demo.

  • Very clean form. Overall a good performance. thumbup

  • 5:13. The sacred art of Tea-bagging.

  • humans are soo gay

  • @animalcrackin agreed

  • french i've just vommited

  • @kaya17able i wish ud go to france so u can kill yourelf then..ignorant idiot.

  • @Lrofd oh shut up i study french in and it sucks and i think french people are the most ignorant people and they invented racism and i'm black so i'm not their biggest fan for many reasons

  • @kaya17able

i think french people are the most ignorant people and they INVENTED racism

t'es con ou tu le fais expres?

go t'acheter un dictionnaire et un cerveau par la meme occassion

    i study french

et mon cul c'est du poulet?

  • @kaya17able Hating a people for hating you only breeds more hate, no? To quote Ghandi: "Be the change you want in the world". Besides, this is 2010. We're supposed to have moved past such primitve emotions. One bad french man doesn't equal all bad french men in the same way as one idiot black man doesn't equal all idiot black men, yes? Don't punish the coming generations for what previous did. That's not fair. To yourself and them

  • I envy the way they move: I wonder, it seem so easy and natural ...

  • ok....yeah...but can he julienne a cucumber?

  • Wasnt He in The Ninja Turtle movie!?

  • @pAtZeLtM

ahaha ya i was thinkin the same thing!

  • @pAtZeLtM Yeah he's been appearing in some movies.

Fun fact, he always get to play a vilain since he looks like one, but always get dubbed bacause he really doesn't sound like one XD

  • @Ikarus568 he has appeared in movies for quite a while now he was in the original ninja turtle movies in the beginning of the 90's...

  • The control they have is absolute fantastic! Anyone who is not impressed by this doesn't understand what they are watching.

  • Never fight an asian dude.. You never know!

  • if i ever run into trouble with straw mats i will make sure and call this guy to protect me

  • @Canoots BAHAHAHAH that's pretty funny dude. but surely you're aware that the "mats" you just mentioned have more or less the same sturdiness and resilience of a human limb. The Katana is the 2nd SHARPEST blade in the world. 2nd only to the SCALPEL. and it is the SHARPEST SWORD overall. hehe. a little bit of respect would cost you nothing but a humbled soul.

  • @heurodis A blade is only as sharp as someone makes it. One style of blade is not guaranteed to be sharper then another. Stop getting so wrapped up in the JSA, and realize there are other swords and other forms of swordsmanship out there, which are just as good, and take just as much skill.

  • @Tendrax Oh did I give you that impression that I was wrapped up in the JSA?. for that Mea Culpa. I meant only to give you the fact. oh and to express my incredulity of "Canoots" statement. I will never nor will you ever hear me, claim that JSA or it's form is the best at its field. You on the other hand is rather being too defensive. perhaps you should consider the content of my words? I've already expressed my desire for a little respect, surely you could be agreeable to that.

  • @heurodis Hhaha nice post! :D Me like! And I agree, the Japanease are such an extraordinary and fascinating people. Due to the lack of resources on the islands of Japan they had to utilize what little they had so they created weapons of incredible quality. Durability was very sought after. I wish I was born Japanease... :(

  • @heurodis Just because it is a katana, doesn't make it the sharpest blade in the world. ANY sword can be sharpened as sharp or sharper than a katana.

  • @ChrisRiley93 mmmmm I meant no disrespect ChrisRiley93 but surely you understand that a sword is FORGED and not merely sharpened?? meaning and I've not intention to injure your pride, that it's base elements are crucial to and directly related to it's sharpness. the Katana was made in a unique style that enables it to be durable and be extremely sharp.. oh and I may have made a mistake by not putting a quotation mark. That claim (sharpest sword, 2ndsharpest blade) is WRITTEN in the BOOK OF RECOR

  • @ChrisRiley93 BOOK OF RECORDS.. it had been featured in several documentaries, NatGeo and Mythbusters. you may find these in Youtube. or simply googling them. No offense meant, I myself is a fan of the Bastard sword, Long Sword and shield. It just wont hurt to admit certain facts. or simply put.. please get over it ^_^ you are not being restricted to like ONLY one particular fighting style nor being forbidden to wield certain swords. the sky is limit, my friend.

  • @heurodis I hope you weren't actually referring that to me. >-->

  • @heurodis not the sharpest sword in the world, the best but not the sharpest

  • @smokescreenninjato

    what is the sharpest???

  • @MrBoneStripper98 in the americas (and probably other places too) some tribes used wooden swords with pieces of sharpened obsidian which being like glass can be made many times sharper than steel as the blade. while i think that that would be a crappy sword it is sharper

  • @smokescreenninjato

oh yea lol (i actualy love obsidian) obsidian is realy strong i wonder what a full sword blade made of pure obsidian be like. probly realy brittle but it would look cool.

  • @MrBoneStripper98 i have always wanted to try make a glass sword, with the right kinds of glass I think it would work

  • @smokescreenninjato

it would work but you would need the right kind of glass, pirex,(probly not though) lexan, or that one stuff it has a rippley apearance to it but i hit a big window of it with a hammer as hard as i could (old condemd building) and it just dented the the spot where i hit and not alot ether just where the hammer made contact, something like that would probly be your best bet.

  • @MrBoneStripper98 thanks for the info

  • @smokescreenninjato

or maybe trilon but i think thats only a coating, yea if you do, do it though (lol) i would forge it like steel and fold it like they do for a katana (it will take a very long time) till you have several thousand "layers" if you do it though (witch would be awsome) let me know. go to my wall or channel and let me know.

  • Obsidian IS glass and it sharpens to the molecular level but only if knapped, flaked or sheared.Other methodes to work it can produce sharp edges but not at its best. This only works as glass is harder than Steel(being 5 on the Mohs scale)but so brittle it cant be used in large pieces without snapping

  • @heurodis sharpest, that's a pretty silly thing to say. the katana is excellent for cutting flesh, but you know, it'll never cut through chain mail like many western swords will. everything has a use and nothing is 'best'

  • Your response shows a little bit of knowledge on blades.simple glass and obsidian produce the sharpest edges known to man when knapped, flaked or sheared because they shear to the molecular level.

Medical speciman cutting machines utilize a piece of fractured glass to shave frozen samples for optical microscopes. Many blades are sharper than the Katana-mostly of knife size as sharpness is determined by hardness(to a large part) and the harder the blade the more brittle it becomes.

  • toughness determines the edge holding ability and "strength" of the blade.Katana also had the micro serations of forge welded steel to assist with cutting ability.

  • @heurodis Scalpel is not a sword, it is a mere surgical knife. True it is sharp, but the katana would win against the scalpel if put in a battle. So that makes the Katana he best Edged Weapon on earth.

  • Geez, this guy's a beast! If I ever do end up visiting Japan, I need to see one of these in person.

  • Holy Cripes, its Tatsu from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie!!!

  • @billyspurr Yeah, everyone in Japan knows him as an Aikido and Kenjutsu master and trainer. Here in the U.S. he's simply known as the grunting and snorting Tatsu from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

  • They're masters...They were fightning even while making bows to each other !

  • @theawakener7 Even you dont believe that stupid bull-shit you just typed...Chiba backwards is abihC. That is not how u spell a bitch...

  • Id kick this litte guys ass sword or no sword. Why? Cuz im just that fuckin bad-ass!!!

  • He's a living myamoto musashi

  • He uses a very short tsuka on his sword. I could never get comfortable with a tsuka under 11 inches and his looks to be shorter than that. Of course i have big hands though.

  • Thats 8:23 of my life I will never get back!

    What a stupid video!

  • @bam7786 stupid you, if you dont have idea about real martial arts please dont talk or write

  • Awesome forms. But what has Obata done that makes people angry at him?

  • @theawakener7 Control yourself.

  • @theawakener7 I always found it to be rougher than judo or jujutsu actually but then I study in Chiba's line.

  • @theawakener7 Well Aikido is based partly on the sword. Most techniques are taught as a series of sword cuts so a demontration of tamagashiri is as much a demonstration of Aikido as demonstrating the more "peaceful" neckbreaking techniques such as kaiten nage. :D

  • There are many reasons one might question Toshishiro Obata, he has made a lot of people angry over the years. One way you cannot question him is on his skill with a sword. To do so would show the height of ignorance.

  • To those talking mess about the power and speed he puts into his tameshigiri cuts, you should already know the mats represent human limbs and as such realize obata practices his swordsmanship in the thought of a real fight. Which means yes even though he could cut the mats with far less force then hes using, would you really swing softly if someone were trying to kill you with a sword? Its all about the basic military principle of train the way you would really fight.

  • I don't know much about Kendo, but that sparring match was pretty interesting. Was it a real match, or was it only for show?

  • how did that guy lost to the teenage mutant ninja turtles?

  • what does he say?

le baguette le ford le aikido le katana un deax troi asterix le obelix

    le japonese

  • YOUR EMPIRE FLOURISHES, MASTER SHREDDER.

  • @onanotherlevel85 Omg... lolololol

  • @onanotherlevel85 NINJA VANISH!

  • ...Master Tensen

  • un très grand maitre

  • both toshirio and obata are of the show bleach awsome

  • @magicdevil97 Its toshiro on bleach, Toshishiro here

  • He knows what hes doing because he knows using a sword is different from using one sword style.

  • Its so funny to read some of these comments about some of these dudes trying to analyze than give their masterful professional critique of a world reknown master of the sword who would cut them down before they realized it. Its also funny how the white dude has his top knot lol.

  • @elijahthesamurai Right..

Toshishiro Obata is a lifelong student of the blade, and a national champion in Japan. I think he knows what he is doing.

  • His form is very good, but he seems like he uses way more than the force required to cut the mats. His movements are very wide and so is his stance, he could cut those mats with just as much skill and precision with a quarter of the effort he is using.

  • is this the same guy who played tetsu on TMNT?

  • @k3rgr4

    Yes it is.
