They claimed I had no right to use the music I was using in my adsensed enabled videos (I did it was by RenardV and Kurrel THe Raven, both not belonging to record labels and offered written permission) they disabled my account and ignored my emails.

Even though I havn't even read the Youtube TOS, I'm pretty sure not even Youtube really even complies to it. Just saying. And about Facebook selling people's information to the government, I'm already pretty sure the government would do that, but I think Google+ has more of a chance of selling it to them then Facebook

Sir i feel your pain, i recently have lost my adsense account due to the same fileing :( Google need to realise its not there advertisers they should be protecting but the people who are the ones getting these adverts to the people.
Goolge need to protect their advertisers yes, but what they need to do more is protect the people who click on those ads. I for one feel i have been cheated and now have no incentive or goal to post youtube videos :( Sad face
Just try to find ONE person who got their appeal to overturn their decision. The appeal form is just a way for them to make you think they care so they can let you down slow and easy. Same goes for ALL the online Corps. (eBay/Paypal) - This is becoming a HUGE problem in the virtual world. Since they never see you F2F, or your starving child's face that you can no longer afford to feed, it's much easier for them to ruin people's lively hood FOR LIFE!! Time to BOYCOTT YT, eBay & Paypal !!
@sirgigglez As far as I know, no. You can appeal to the adsense people using the form on the FAQ page, but if they deny you, you're out entirely. I lost mine 4 months ago, got denied a few days later, never heard another word back, even though I've made more videos.

Wow, if it can happen to you, it can happen to anyone. This seems to be a trend with Google Adsense lately. You receive no explanation and have no real options to appeal it. obviously when most people start YouTubing it's just for fun and is a hobby, but once you make partner and start to earn money, of course that becomes one of the motivating factors. So if you lose it, it's not just money yer losing, it feels like a kind of demotion also. Punishment even.
@adminmovie Nope. Got denied back in June, flat-out. I made an update video right after this one explaining. Sucks, but that's exactly what happens to most people who get disabled, whether they did anything wrong or not.

@thisweekinlinux I know a girl who got hers back and she has like 500,000 subs watching her so I was kinda pissed when she got hers back about a week after they disabled it but I guess some people get it and some people don't. It's like a big joke.

@cOmedyhOur7520 best advice I can give is to try to gather up as much information as you can before making your appeal. if you have a website, go through the logs to see if there was any spike in activity. The more info you can provide to show them that you're proactive about protecting your ads, the better chance you'll have. That said, I was flat-out denied, and I had that sort of info... so I don't know.
The same thing happened to me. I've tried to email the YouTube Partner team but it's been a month and they haven't responded. I'm absolutely stuck on this one.
@Ir0nIsland I tried emailing the partner team, and they redirected me to the Adsense FAQ. I got in touch with an actual YouTube employee who talked to the actual members of the Adsense team, and they told him to direct me to the Adsense FAQ. Stonewalled.

I bet that YouTube are getting into financial trouble with all of the "smaller" partners they have to pay money to and have made a team to crack down and remove as many as possible while still making money of ads on their channels.
@SquirrelFromGradLife Toby's situation was a bit different. he was throwing loads of links in the video description to every playlist he had ever created, which came across as spam, apparently. He also got slapped on the wrists for putting his gaming videos in "Science & Technology".
That said, yeah, a lot of smaller partners have lost their adsense and partnership lately. I'm definitely not alone in this.
@thisweekinlinux I know your situation might be a little different from Toby's but the point was rather if YT chooses to temporarily hold the honors of one of "their stars" for something as trivial as links to playlist's in the description box when YT actually advocates the use of playlist's on the upload page then the motive for their reaction towards you becomes a little more clearer - not that its okay for YT to throw basically non-descriptive explanations at their partners.
@thisweekinlinux I have seen several smaller partners where YT have taken their Adsense away on the basis of "the risk of non click days" even though they had traffic to their channel and videos and they constantly produced a lot of new videos... Its sad that YT chooses to act like that towards their business partners that basically their whole reason for existing... if there were no content creators YT would die.

I'd be more wary of the advertisers, not the channel owners myself... As a complete contradiction they are giving partnerships to channels with 5 videos, 200 views a video and only a handful of subscribers...what's that all about?

It seems like every day/few days a Google employee has a bad day and attacks a completely random user. It's the only possible explanation for why Google is an asshole a lot of the time.

This thing that youtube has done could be a blessing in the end, and as someone mentioned in your blip comments, youtube has basically redirected everyone to their competition! google and youtube both suck. at this point i could do without both. youtube is broken and claiming videos are not available in "your country" to the people that posted them, and google it seems is disabling accounts left and right almost as fast as they can and seemingly for no reason. i support you and hope you get your partnership back!
This has been happening so much lately, I hope that someone launches a class action lawsuit against Google. They should be able to tell from the IP addresses, that you have not been clicking on your own advertisements etc.

@piandcompany He replied to me on twitter that they disabled his AdSense account... and they will lock his YouTube Partnership soon after. So right now he is pretty much fucked.

I do not understand any of this. I do know that I enjoy your show and I wish you well in being able to resolve this situation. Some company once said "Don't be Evil" ; I hope they understand their own mantra.
I was offered by Google a couple times on my videos to apply for partnership and set up an AdSense account, but glitches kept me from being able to complete the process (blank web pages) and it became apparent to me after a while it wouldn't make much sense for my own channel, anyway. I guess even the famous Google screws up once in a while. Good luck on getting things straightened out...I always look forward to your videos!

@r0llingthund Considering Android is (based on) Linux and many Google employees use a custom version of Ubuntu at work, I doubt that's the reason. I just think it might have been a software screw-up on their part to detect accounts that could pose problems and they didn't look into it closely enough.
What a load of crap! I've never seen you even mention the ads in your videos. Nothing you've done could "pose a risk" of click fraud.
In essence, you create the content that drives visitors to YouTube and now google doesn't want to pay you for it. Their one-sided "partnership" seems more like exploitation of content creators.
If they don't recognize the stupidity of their error, I hope you'll choose another venue to continue your worthy endeavor.
They will not reinstate your account. What you can do is register another adsense account but that account must be a business account, meaning you must create a business name for yourself and register it officially as LLC for example. Other than that you can not ever register an adsense with your own name.

That blows. Google has a lot of automated systems that can occasionally make very bad decisions. I often get a message telling me my gmail account has been permanently disabled when I try to log in from the same IP using two browsers. This has never actually been the case. I really hope they sort out your issue, although support has never been their strong suit, so prepare to wait a while.
If it hadn't been for you and your videos, I would have floundered with Kdenlive for weeks before figuring it out. That alone is a HUGE value to me and I know the community has benefited as well.

Ask them to be more specific, of what this "invalid activity" is, and what are the features of the account that specifically can cause this "invalid activity". They may respond, they may not, if their warning e-mail was created by just an automatic control system. You can then negotiate the fact to remove some features they propose you, to remove -if so-, in order to keep the cooperation. I don't have an other idea. Unfortunately sometimes we have to play with the rules of others :-{

Sounds like they suspect fraud, but maybe its because they can't believe how many people believe in free and open source software. I say let the open source revolution continue. Google for one should know, seeing how much they have benefited from it. I hope they allow this man to continue do what he does and that is inform the people.

From what I saw from Facebook a few weeks ago, its pretty easy to mess with people's accounts (big name websites were closed simply by anonymous complaints sent from fake @.
It seemed shoddy.

Ok well the thing that seems most wrong with that is how they haven't actually given a proper reason for doing it. I mean seriously you can't just cut someone off with out a reason and if you have one then you should state it. @Ir0nIsland I tried emailing the partner team, and they redirected me to the Adsense FAQ. I got in touch with an actual YouTube employee who talked to the actual members of the Adsense team, and they told him to direct me to the Adsense FAQ. Stonewalled.

same thing just happened to us. Been partners for over a year. And out of no where we got disabled. never clicked on our ads. Our first appeal was denied. So our YouTube career is over. Good luck man.

Toby Turner lost his honors with 1 million subscribers... and you're getting thousands of views pr video.. it makes absolutely no sense at all and calling it AdSense is becoming a joke..
I bet that YouTube are getting into financial trouble with all of the "smaller" partners they have to pay money to and have made a team to crack down and remove as many as possible while still making money of ads on their channels.

@SquirrelFromGradLife Toby's situation was a bit different. he was throwing loads of links in the video description to every playlist he had ever created, which came across as spam, apparently. He also got slapped on the wrists for putting his gaming videos in "Science & Technology".
That said, yeah, a lot of smaller partners have lost their adsense and partnership lately. I'm definitely not alone in this.

@thisweekinlinux I know your situation might be a little different from Toby's but the point was rather if YT chooses to temporarily hold the honors of one of "their stars" for something as trivial as links to playlist's in the description box when YT actually advocates the use of playlist's on the upload page then the motive for their reaction towards you becomes a little more clearer - not that its okay for YT to throw basically non-descriptive explanations at their partners.

@thisweekinlinux I have seen several smaller partners where YT have taken their Adsense away on the basis of "the risk of non click days" even though they had traffic to their channel and videos and they constantly produced a lot of new videos... Its sad that YT chooses to act like that towards their business partners that basically their whole reason for existing... if there were no content creators YT would die.

@SquirrelFromGradLife But isn't the rumor that they are going corporate, serving only large businesses one to take notice of, given that this sort of stuff is happening all over the place to smaller partner channels. I'd be more wary of the advertisers, not the channel owners myself... As a complete contradiction they are giving partnerships to channels with 5 videos, 200 views a video and only a handful of subscribers...what's that all about?

It seems like every day/few days a Google employee has a bad day and attacks a completely random user. It's the only possible explanation for why Google is an asshole a lot of the time.

Just bookmarked your blip tv channel, and subscribed to the comments section. I couldn't figure out if there was a way to subscribe to the actual channel as of yet, but I would like to. This thing that youtube has done could be a blessing in the end, and as someone mentioned in your blip comments, youtube has basically redirected everyone to their competition! Unbelievable to say the least.

google and youtube both suck. at this point i could do without both. youtube is broken and claiming videos are not available in "your country" to the people that posted them, and google it seems is disabling accounts left and right almost as fast as they can and seemingly for no reason. i support you and hope you get your partnership back!

This has been happening so much lately, I hope that someone launches a class action lawsuit against Google. They should be able to tell from the IP addresses, that you have not been clicking on your own advertisements etc.

they will not give you back the ad's account. this is happen 2 me 2 time ! i never click on my ad's, because i know that they know and they will close my account. but this is stupid. if someone doesn't like you they can click on your ad's and youtube will close your account. they should think about that too.

I was offered by Google a couple times on my videos to apply for partnership and set up an AdSense account, but glitches kept me from being able to complete the process (blank web pages) and it became apparent to me after a while it wouldn't make much sense for my own channel, anyway. I guess even the famous Google screws up once in a while. Good luck on getting things straightened out...I always look forward to your videos!

@r0llingthund Considering Android is (based on) Linux and many Google employees use a custom version of Ubuntu at work, I doubt that's the reason. I just think it might have been a software screw-up on their part to detect accounts that could pose problems and they didn't look into it closely enough.

What a load of crap! I've never seen you even mention the ads in your videos. Nothing you've done could "pose a risk" of click fraud.
In essence, you create the content that drives visitors to YouTube and now google doesn't want to pay you for it. Their one-sided "partnership" seems more like exploitation of content creators.
If they don't recognize the stupidity of their error, I hope you'll choose another venue to continue your worthy endeavor.

They will not reinstate your account. What you can do is register another adsense account but that account must be a business account, meaning you must create a business name for yourself and register it officially as LLC for example. Other than that you can not ever register an adsense with your own name.

Its google/youtube's stupid automated "copyright violation" algorithm.... it usually catches innocent people in its nets! Kindda like the dolphins in the tuna nets...
Stupid and aggravating to say the least... there should be a more user friendly method to resolve misunderstandings.
Hope TWIL comes out of this mess without much distress.

That blows. Google has a lot of automated systems that can occasionally make very bad decisions. I often get a message telling me my gmail account has been permanently disabled when I try to log in from the same IP using two browsers. This has never actually been the case. I really hope they sort out your issue, although support has never been their strong suit, so prepare to wait a while.

If it hadn't been for you and your videos, I would have floundered with Kdenlive for weeks before figuring it out. That alone is a HUGE value to me and I know the community has benefited as well.
You news and Linux (as well as android) updates have been invaluable!
Here's hoping that this is just some screw-up and that it will soon be resolved.

Ask them to be more specific, of what this "invalid activity" is, and what are the features of the account that specifically can cause this "invalid activity". They may respond, they may not, if their warning e-mail was created by just an automatic control system. You can then negotiate the fact to remove some features they propose you, to remove -if so-, in order to keep the cooperation. I don't have an other idea. Unfortunately sometimes we have to play with the rules of others :-{

Sounds like they suspect fraud, but maybe its because they can't believe how many people believe in free and open source software. I say let the open source revolution continue. Google for one should know, seeing how much they have benefited from it. I hope they allow this man to continue do what he does and that is inform the people.

From what I saw from Facebook a few weeks ago, its pretty easy to mess with people's accounts (big name websites were closed simply by anonymous complaints sent from fake @.
It seemed shoddy.
I wonder if its that easy to do the same like Facebook did to tech sites Ars Technica, Neowin, Redmond Pie.

Ok well the thing that seems most wrong with that is how they haven't actually given a proper reason for doing it. I mean seriously you can't just cut someone off with out a reason and if you have one then you should state it. I hope this is a mistake because your videos are some of the few that I actually watch on a regular basis most of my other subscriptions I only watch the odd video here and there.

That is the problem when a company gets to the size and power Google has: they do whatever they want, manipulate whatever they want, and no one can do anything. Microsoft did that once, Google is doing it now. Such a shame as your videos do not do anything illegal, on the contrary, they educate people. This is just a guess but perhaps Google may be indicating that the naming of your show "This Week In Linux" could be confused by some with the shows by Leo Laporte's TWiT network.
This Week In Google, This Week in Tech, This Week in Law...
I think this is a great opportunity to reach out to Leo/TWiT and see if there is interest in bringing your show and audience to the TWiT network or perhaps they could contact Google on your behalf.
