  • Innit fun what you can do in peace time?

  • The idea seems kinda creepy, but this is so beautiful.

  • Okay, that's it! If someone can show me a marionette that ISN'T creepy, I might be able to go to sleep for the first time in four days!

  • @furiousajp I think it's beautiful. She looks so life-like. It's like you can see life and curiosity within her. Most marionettes are creepy, I agree, but this one. Nothing really to say but great job.

  • @dirtyrussians666 The Album is by a band (they were playing live on a float that followed just behind the Elephant and the 'Little' Girl) called Les Balayeurs Du Désert (translation from French to English: 'The Sweepers of the Desert'. The album is called Jules Verne Impact. I bought it from iTunes after seeing the show in London and Calais, Fab album!

  • jesus fucking crist

  • Great juxtaposition of song and image!

Song is Decollage by Les Balayeurs du Desert. The vocal is taken from It Amazes Me, written by Cy Coleman & Carolyn Leigh and sung by Blossom Dearie.

  • god damn, that is creepy

  • God, this is awesome. I can't tell which one I like best, the giant marionette or the elephant. They're both amazing. ^__^ <3

  • Phenomenal. I feel like I'm being hugged from the inside out.

  • You did an excellent job mixing the music and emotive expressions. Your effort enabled us to transcend the mechanical. Thanks.

What are the names of the audio artist and title track?

  • You did an excellent job mixing the music and emotive expressions. Your effort enabled us to transcend the mechanical. Thanks.

  • shes not really a 'little' girl is she...

  • creepy. 0-0 _

  • I think the whole production was amazing. I think the engineers involved had their work cut out for them, didn't they? And, yes, of course, the music was good, as well.

  • The song is "It Amazes Me" sung by Blossom Dearie, 1958.

  • Woha, I REALLY love this theatre-group. =D

I was lucky enough to see the both giants in Germany, but that elephant is AWESOME too. Nice Video indeed.

  • There is absolutely NOTHING in this video that does not FREAK. ME. OUT. HO-LY CRAP the chick singing is so FLAT - AAAAAAAAARGH

  • Comment removed

  • @592220 You obviously were not at the event and you HAVE to be tone deaf to think she's singing flat

  • what is the music in this?

  • The music is De Collage by Les Bayulears de Desert. However the vocal part is originally from "It amazes me" by Blossom Dearie.

You can find the original on youtube here, it has a rather different feel.

  • I come back to this video often, it is beautiful, and the music is haunting and sends me inside myself.

  • Magic!

  • outstanding work

  • Wow, Great video! Re- Music: The backing track is Blossom Dearie, but I don't know who this re-vamp is by. Nice work!!

  • in what country the elephant was made?

  • It was made in France, i was there a month ago and saw the elephant and some of their creations.. its a city called Nantes, 2 hours from paris.. They're working on a huge mechanical tree at the moment as part of their city arts development program. pretty cool.. you can talk a ride in the elephant if ya want..

  • she looks like she have a soul...

    creepy...

  • This was so fun!

  • I absolutely loved the spider in Liverpool but I just watched this and well this was truly awe inspiring, even more so than the spider (if it's possible.)

  • wow.

  • Thanks for posting this; The Giant Girl & the Elephant are both unreal, but what I find most fascinating are the throngs of people around them, and the collective effort it took to create and savor this fantastic moment. What a wonderful tribute to the living spirit, and to the power of our collective imagination.

  • This Is So Gorgeous.. Its Just Really Stunning

  • this is beautiful

  • This elepahant is 1000 times better realised than that rubbish spider!

  • is that just liverpool bashing or what mate?

  • er No, it's merely a comment saying that this Elephant looks far more spectacular than the Giant Spider - which looks an unimpressive mess!

How is that Liverpool bshing ???

  • Don't worry, you're not 'Liverpool bashing' - an important American misuse of the word 'bashing' if ever there was one - you're just perceiving accurately. The spider was nothing compared to the Elephant. I remember when the Elephant came to London, it was magical and inspiring.

  • Thank you, that was exactly what I meant.

The Sultans Elephant looked totally majestic....and the spider just seemed....well, a tad poopy in comparison lol

    xxx

  • @TheBeardedMadonna The Elephant was much better than the Spider I saw both events. It just didn't stop raining in Liverpool, shame, I felt for all the poor operators. It's a pity they've taken the Elephant down and won't be showing him anymore

  • @MiltonGrubert1 This girl and another puppet are coming to Liverpool in April 2012 for the sinking of the Titanic anniversary,it promises to be bigger and better than La Machine spider. It's all there if you Google it.

  • the girl is creepy

  • The Music goes perfect with this video, and its amazing ^.^

  • A spiders cummin 2 liverpool by these

  • AMAZING

  • kinda scary...

  • According to La Machine's website, the "princess " coming to Liverpool is a much much smaller animal in real life , it is not appreciated by the general public but this may change after this parade....

  • For those who want an update on the Liverpool show, i've just read comments from people who went to Nantes to see the spider and were told it was en route to Liverpool

  • Simply GREAT!

  • one in liverpool is 20ft bigger and a liver bird

  • Wrooong.

  • The people behind The sultans Elephant has something new and Big this September to celebrate Liverpool European Capital of Culture 2008

  • its another robot...u know what it is?

i do ! saw it today..creepy.bein built in camell lairds omg.anyone hu knows about it is to stay quiet.so i stay shush shush..or will i?

  • How much did it cost? Just over 1 million pounds. When you think about it that isn't that much. This was something that brought people together and made them happy. And that is important. It's so easy to be synical about this sort of thing si13ntn1nj4077. What inspires you? And how much money do you think was put into that?

  • I wonder how many millions it costs just to organize and run this...exhibit.

  • que miedo esta webaa:S

  • one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen

  • @aaronwhitmer I agree, I'm sure that this was one of the best things I've seen in my life

  • @MiltonGrubert1 Hi try watching the movie on youtube called "Earthlings - Full length documentary (multi-subtitles)" if you want to see something for yourlifetime

  • the song is Decollage from Les Balayeurs du Desert. The Elephant walk is great too and was the main song during the 2 days event. They are available on itunes. Royal de Luxe and La Machine are now building a spider which should be coming in September to Liverpool. Watch this space....

  • I'm sick, i'm going away for the first three weeks in september and shall miss the event. I feel like cancelling.

  • The spider is not part of the La Machine event ... that's a modern art exhibit that forms part of the biennial later in the month ... a giant web with LED lights is being suspended over one of the city squares with a giant chandelier in the shape of a spider hanging in the middle of it.

  • Lol...

  • Oops ... seems I got that wrong! :D ... but there is ALSO another spider which takes the form of a chandelier scheduled to be part of the biennial! :D

  • *EEEK*!!!!! if I was a little kid again seeing this I'd have a nervous breakdown!

that thing is HUGE and scary

  • 怖ええよwセンスねえな

  • Who is the artist that sings this song?

  • Seconding!

It really does make this video. Have you found out yet?

  • Afuckiingmaziing

  • i LoVE HER!

  • thats fuckin crazy...borderline creepy

  • This is amazing, very much like the parade/festival scene, in Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. Both scenes feature large robots creating mind blowing spectacle for large, festive processions, the difference, of course, is that this is real!
