I was born and raised in Londonderry NH and I remember every yr for Old Homes Day my family would gather at the high school to see the Shaw Brothers preform live!! GREAT MEMORIES
I grew up in New Hampshire and I too remember the days when that song would play on TV when the station would sign off for the night. I live out in California now and this song brings a tear or two to my eyes whenever I hear it.
When I lived in Massachusetts and worked a late shift, I'd stay awake into the wee hours of the morning. On one of the TV stations, back in the days when stations actually signed off for the night, the closing song was this one. I remember telling my husband that when we bought a house, we'd have to live in New Hampshire because this song was so promosing! And so it has been!!! Great song and I still love it!
I lived there from 1985 thru end of 1990. Goffstown and Milford, worked at Edgcomb Metals in Nashua, wife at Data General in Manchester then Hookset. We returned to our native PA in 1990 with mixed feelings...going home but leaving our adopted home and many good friends. A truly beautiful place to live, but just too expensive. LOL on the morning wake up to this song on WMUR because I used to love listening to it on the PBS station at sign off early in morning on weekends (night owl).
Where at in Mass? I had a sis in law that lived down south of Boston in Randolph, so we were down there at least once a month! Where at now, why did you move out? I moved back to Pittsburgh, PA from NH after 6 years, still miss that area and love to reminisce about it. Also still have many great friends and memories from New England.
I lived in Pepperell, Ma. My hubby is from Boston. Actually, I loved this song so much that we bought a house in New Hampshire. We've been living in Jaffrey for over 20 years now. Ten years ago, while looking on-line for long lost relatives in California, I discovered that my great-grandfather grew up right here in Jaffrey, and that the house we live in is less than one mile from the old farm house! How cool is that???
