  • LINY where I lived bought 3 of those tandem axle lodals new back in the mid 90s but without the carttiper!! What's surprizing is that cause the truck was front wheel drive, the packer swept all the way in body! I remember that those 3axle lodals had IHC engines in them! My old town also had the single axle ones & they had Cat 3208s!! They bought them used from Sarasota lol!! I don't know if Lodal makes these trucks anymore!!

  • I think Lodal is still making them... actually today I was going to go to Titusville, FL and see if I could find some of their Lodals... I've seen pics of the ones they have and they have some that are all blue and some that are Orange. Unfortunately it started raining really really bad, so I turned back.... didn't think I was going to get any decent video.

  • Actually, now that I think about it, when I was at WM they had one Lodal recycling truck for a few months... everyone hated it, and then WM scrapped it, I never got to drive it though.

  • Norfolk is relatively flat so there's not many hills these things have to climb. That slow climbing sounds like a huge pain in the neck. Would you happen to have any pics of those?

  • Yeah, the City of Norfolk loves those Lodals, they've had different ones in the fleet for at least 20 years.

  • How's that for a mix of equipment... got some nice ones there. Like the IRLs and the CCC LODAL in particular, but they all look awesome! Also noticed the extended/heightened hopper entrance at :0:56 on the RR... never seen that before. Did you manage to get any videos of these trucks + are you uploading these pics on Flickr? Hell awesome you got to enter the depot, what an opportunity! =]

  • I want to load them onto flickr, but it looks like I'll have to become a "pro" and pay a little cash so all my pics will be available... once you have over 200 pics, they will only "show" the most recent 200. I'll probably load them up anyway! LOL I believe that's all the footage I have for Norfolk, I'll have to look and see if I have any other pics hiding anywhere.

  • That's pretty shit about that limit until the "showing" situation... thought Flickr was supposed to be free like YT?

  • Yeah, I was a little annoyed when I saw that... btw, I just loaded the second part to that WM ASL video... it should be up any minute (it's just processing)!

  • Yeah, I reached that 200 limit thing on flickr, decided to just go 'pro'...sucks that they don't hardly tell you about it until then though. Figured it would be worth it being that I've got a whole folder of pics to upload + others from various filming 'adventures' of mine...

BTW Mitch, Lodal makes the cab and body (entire unit), it's not a CCC chassis (if that's what you were saying?)...just 2 clarify :)

  • Yeah I've got a bunch of other pics to load on there, so I'll probably end up going "pro" too.

  • They've got some GREAT looking equipment! Would love seeing one of the Lodals in action sometime (hint hint :D)!!! ESD (San Diego) used to have a lot of those CCC COE/RRs, I'd usually see them do recycling. Those things had such nice fan sounds! Love the newer CCC at 0:58, with enlarged RR hopper/Python arm!!! Definitely a fav!!

  • I was almost able to get footage of a Lodal in action, but I was in a bad area on a busy road with no where to stop. They still run them on many one way streets, in really tight places where there's TONS of parked cars, and anywhere else that an ASL can't work very easily.

  • I see, that's a good way to do it! Pretty maneuverable though aren't they?

  • The smaller ones they use to have with the single rear axle seemed very maneuverable... I haven't seen many of these larger Lodal's in action.

  • WOW!!! im speechless! awesome collection of trucks here!!! 5* and a fav!!

  • Thanks! I felt the same way when I saw those 3 IRL's in person, I NEVER thought that would happen! lol

  • very nice variety of equipment there lil brother

  • Thanks! I appreciate it!

  • what is the make of truck @ O:25 ?

  • Those are relatively rare CCC IRL's. Basically the entire truck (chassis and body) was made by Crane Carrier so they called it the IRL or Integrated Rear Loader... I learned that from watching other videos on here of the CCC IFL's.

  • ok thnk

  • The DSNY had a IRL fleet a few years ago. They spend time out here when the department bought Mack/Heil trucks. Haven't seen them since. Last one I saw was in bad shape but still going strong.

  • Really? I never knew that, thanks for sharing!

  • at 1:48 that looks like the identical truck my video has. not sure though

  • Oh ok, the truck at 1:48 is a SPSA (Southeastern Public Service Authority) truck. Their trucks pick up recyclables for the City of Norfolk.

  • great mix of trucks

  • Thanks!

  • cool video!

  • Thanks, glad you like it!

  • NICE! You are a posting machine!

  • Thanks! I'm trying to post a bunch of my videos now that I have a decent connection... I have a bunch of "in traffic" trucks I need to post too.

  • WOW. i like IRL's too bad u couldnt find my fav packer.

  • I was hoping to see it, I saw 2 the last time I was in that area. Nice mix of trucks though isn't it?

  • yup.i thought they weree all asl now

  • They run ASL for garbage, REL for yard waste and SPSA picks up recycle with ASL's.

  • oh ok
