Anyone else notice how as the band booths got emptier and emptier Pentatonix got stronger and stronger in their performances. It's like they knew this contest was theirs for the taking and they just took it. On an additional note this video was worth watching just to see the guy jiving around at 3:33 in his booth.

im almost certain that they staged the "kevin's beliefs" bit for the show. I have no doubt that kevin has the capability for holding strong religious principles, but for him to let that get in the way of singing usher is a little ridiculous.

@jphilipgardner7 well we gotta think about it another way. usher's way of singing omg was more of a way to make a girl an object. yeah it says let me "love you down" but it's just about doing the dirty to be honest. all power to him that's how he makes his money. but marvin's song is about making love. talking about sex being a union and not just a means to pleasure. thats just my opinion though. hopefully this gave some insight.

As for his voice, well, maybe it's not his genre, but again: IT'S NOT HIS GENRE. He still sounds good. There were no pitch errors going up or down on his lead. If there was any bad parts: it's the part where they break it down, and Kirsti does the high-pitched "whoah pa pa pa pa" thing, it didn't blend AT ALL with what the guys were doing. Still an A+
The uploader of this video says "I actually don't think his voice fit well with this song...normally his voice could do anything but some parts, especially the fast parts his voice just didn't sound the best but i mean it wasn't a bad performance, it was an okay performance just not one of their best vocally. Love Pentatonix, great arrangement of the song and nice bass for it, but it might have been a bit low for the lead singer, so wasn't the best, but still nice.

Anyone who tries to say negative things about these guys is literally just looking for something to complain about. It was amazing to listen to and don't even get me started on the way they dance. I want to marry five people at once....that can't be legal.....
I'd be fine with Kevin not wanting to sing this song because it mentioned liking certain features of a woman if he were consistent, but they also sang Let's Get It On, about actual sex, and ET, which is basically a rape fantasy ("Wanna be your victim, ready for abduction). But instead, the song he had an issue with was one with the words "booty" and "boobies" and not the rape fantasy. Oh no! This song has "boobies" in it! It's against my religion somehow! I can only hope this was created drama.
I actually think that this was one of their best performances. I don't think Kevin was wrong at all, I'm a Christian too and wouldn't exactly want to sing about some chick's interesting body parts either. Kirstie's dancing was amazing, Avi's voice melted my insides, and even Kevin sounded good! Plus Scott didn't try to go too high like he does sometimes. I think they were all releasing tension and stress, GREAT JOB GUYS keep it up. Waitin' on the record ;)
@DontHoldYourChops I found 3 videos of the same freestyle just taken at different angles. My fav is the one where Avi walks in and meets up with Flo Rida. I love the look on Flo Rida's face when Myke really takes off. Happy Holidays!

Mad respect for Kevin and the whole group. So close to a dream coming true--a recording contract--and still not willing to compromise beliefs. MAJOR integrity and FANTASTIC that the group was willing to stick together on that. Incredible team work!

Anyone who tries to say negative things about these guys is literally just looking for something to complain about. It was amazing to listen to and don't even get me started on the way they dance. I want to marry five people at once....that can't be legal.....

I'd be fine with Kevin not wanting to sing this song because it mentioned liking certain features of a woman if he were consistent, but they also sang Let's Get It On, about actual sex, and ET, which is basically a rape fantasy ("Wanna be your victim, ready for abduction). But instead, the song he had an issue with was one with the words "booty" and "boobies" and not the rape fantasy. Oh no! This song has "boobies" in it! It's against my religion somehow! I can only hope this was created drama.

I actually think that this was one of their best performances. I don't think Kevin was wrong at all, I'm a Christian too and wouldn't exactly want to sing about some chick's interesting body parts either. Kirstie's dancing was amazing, Avi's voice melted my insides, and even Kevin sounded good! Plus Scott didn't try to go too high like he does sometimes. I think they were all releasing tension and stress, GREAT JOB GUYS keep it up. Waitin' on the record ;)

@srh609 Check out the freestyle videos where AVI and the rest of Pentatonix and the crew of UM work it during a break in the show. I found three videos of the same freestlye just different angles. Avi's bass is awe inspiring!

Mad respect for Kevin and the whole group. So close to a dream coming true--a recording contract--and still not willing to compromise beliefs. MAJOR integrity and FANTASTIC that the group was willing to stick together on that. Incredible team work!
