  • seen VH with Gary..... when the show first started, we were screaming David. By end of concert we were screaming GARY GARY!!!!!! Was one of my top three concerts. MJ, J Geils and VH

  • where is the audio from? I have a copy of the Australian conert, but these two aren't shown. Were they part of the show, but not included in the release? any info, I would like to get the entire concert!

  • It sounds better! DLR sucks!

  • his voice isnt terrible, i like it better than hagar.... highs are clearer, but still out of tone in some parts that roth definately wouldnt have done.

  • At his best he was the worlds best, no doubt. I just wish he wouldn't have gone away like he did.

  • Comment removed

  • Man Michael Anthony has a great voice! His highs was such a big part of the VH sound!

  • his voice is just terrrriiible

  • Gary is yelling, not singing. He is a better singer than that. Music sounds great, but Dave OWNS this, like he does all the stuff he wrote

  • That should have been Diamond Dave's comeback tour. FUCK YOU CHERONE.

  • GOOD TO HEAR!!!! Gary Cherone is BACK with EXTREME!! They had a couple of songs that were PRETTY GOOD to listen to!! Way better than having him singing for Van Halen!

  • I liked a lot of vh 3. And this is good, cause you know he's a fan too.

  • no es el video original del sonido q sale.. es cualquier cosa..

  • i prefer roth but cherone does a good job

  • who the F is gary anyway? I guess I'm outa the loop.he has a good voice but he has no business with Van Halen..just not the same.

  • Mike's voice is just sickening. it's so fucking good. if anything, Michael anthony is the voice of Van Halen.

  • Cool! Gary's mom was my gym teacher at Browne Jr. High...she was cool! Never made me play anything I wasn't comfortable playing!!!

  • @withfootnotes dude. thats awesome

  • This was a great tour VH 3 was awesome.....

  • Gary is great!

  • gary is a good singer for other type of music, and time showed this, he was out before he could taste it.

  • Gary Cherone was such a tool

  • Gary is still an awesome singer. I thought him playing was really good. Well, at least there back with Dave right now :D

  • Dave and Sammy are better than Gary. That is a highly backed opinion.

Not as highly-backed, but IMO correct, Gary kicked ass on Dance the night away.

  • Gary's just too serious. These songs need to be sung with tongue firmly in cheek, but he's acting like he is singing a Judas Priest song. Relax dude...

  • Jesus Christ, even the red rocking Cabo Wabo clown sounded better than this fruit on vocals!! Further proof here why Fairy Cherone just didn't fit in VH. Band sounds tight though & Ed sure did have a killer tone for this tour. I think I like the sound of his 5150II amps better than the 5150III amps.

  • david's style it's better than gary's \m/

  • watching this and you can see why Van Halen is nothing without David Lee Roth.

  • Talk all the shit want to about Cherone, but there's one simple fact people always seem to forget. VH approached Cherone, not the other way around. Everything you've never liked about VH, look to the VH brothers, in particular, Eddie.

  • @kamaboko1 True dat. Sure can play that electric twang-er though ......

  • Ted Danson, Lead Vocals.

  • Jeeze.....Gary was probably the worst singer VH ever had. Gary was much better with Extreme and Dave was much better with VH. Also bring back Michael Anthony and get rid of that Fat kid bass player.

  • this is audio is actually from the bootleg called "Unchained Monsters" live from Pittsburgh, PA...I was there

  • This guy sucks and he drools 1:24

  • this guy is so bad, makes me want to stab my parents while they sleep and make sausages out of their flesh. the whole band sux at this point.

  • @TheInboil - I think "wanting to stab your parents while they sleep" has nothing at all to do with Gary Cherone's vocal abilities, Mr. Pathological Weirdo.... :D

  • Gary + VH = Poo

Gary + Extreme = Much Pwnage..

Seriously though Extreme pwn VH easily... Nuno Pwns Eddie!!!

  • @richshillitoe if it wasnt for evh nuno wouldnt be around dumb ass

  • @richshillitoe Ur high. Sammy or David at vocals is much better the gary.

  • Dave Lee Roth, We Miss You =[

  • @DiegoeDrielly he's back with VH now, probably needs another paycheck

  • My God....I didn't know that Ted Danson used to sing for Van Halen! He must have done this when not getting Norm beers!

  • Extreme was a joke??? You gotta be kidding or don't know music, that band was killer, Gary just didn't work with VH although live with them he kicked ass if you ever went to one of their shows, songwriting just wasn't there.

  • This is just insulting to Dave. Extreme was such a joke. What was Eddie thinking?

  • Eddie is a genius. Unfortunately, his choice was not the best one. Gary failled as Van Halen's singer. He was good at Extreme.

  • all on this tour went to see eddie, alex and michael. Not gary

  • ...........Michael Anthony is great as usual

  • this is an amazing song but only when dave is singing.

  • holy crap, never heard this before....it sucks

  • @SolidGold1980 you should heard it in the 80's

  • Only good thing about this line ups tour, was that they played these old songs they hadn't played in years.

  • Simply put, Gary Gayed up VH.

  • cherone is not DLR, but he really is better than Hagar....

  • Anyone notice that the chorus didn't sound nearly as good without Eddie poining in with Mikey? Mike is great at the harmonies but Edward is the other half that makes VH harmonies so great.

On the early albums Ed is all over with Mike doing harmonies, and later on with 5150 and OU812 also. JEd and Mike doing harmonies are just amazing for the band.

Just don't have Ed sing lead in songs like How many say I though,LOL.

  • Gary Cherone = PRANCING FAIRY

    Sammy Hagar = WEIRD QUEER

David Lee Roth = GREATEST ROCK FRONTMAN EVER

  • @Hunkola LOL ! DLR screamed, SH at least tried to sing,

  • @51Thundersticks -- Hagar sang? Coulda fooled me.....sounded like a 50 yr. old bitch in heat to me. Dave was cool because he could growl like a lion or scream like a banshee, all in the same song! Besides, look at the stupid lyrics Hagar wrote -- "Only time will tell if we stand the test of time"......LOL......a retarded 3rd-grader could write better lyrics!

  • horrible

  • I think when this loser joined VH, I forgot to pay attention anymore!!!!!

  • The problem with most people, they only associate Extreme with More than Words. Their best stuff never got any airplay, and musically they're far superior to bands they get lumped in with ie. Poison, Warrant, etc...

  • DLR is by far best frontman for VH...that being said, i love cherone and think he is a better singer/frontman than hagar or roth...it was cool seeing gary with VH, but he is magic with nuno...and VH is magic with roth, just natural and it works

  • Gary Cherone in Van Halen was SHIT!

VAN HALEN = DAVID LEE ROTH!

  • @csrcorps Roth was by far the best singer for the band. Hagar was ok.

  • No wonder Michael Another left the band...Alex in a fucking neck brace, David Lee Roth shunned, and this clown from what Extreme ??? Extreme shitty lineup !!!!

  • Man, Ed was so trashed on this tour....but he can still play like nobody else can.

  • Too bad the video doesn't match the song. but awesome performance.

  • Cherone doesn't do well this song how it could be............pure VH...

  • @NCOMAS1 Cherones stint in VH was a joke. I witnessed it.

  • Btw, my hot blond girlfriend who lives in my bed and has a 0 waist and 0 cellulite, is jealous cause I watch this video every am! She rips the phones off my ears..

  • Makes me feel young again. I really like it!

  • gary's performance was superficial here. since van halen doesn't do this for money, why do they do it? it can only be drugs. the person who posted this deleted certain portions of the video but kept the full audio, which means you are never going to square up the audio/video to make the whole show performance look synched up. Gary sucked shit here some in voice but more in mannerisms. Some rockers flail around and it is believable. Gary does it and you think "yeah right". stay with extreme.

  • I have no problem with Gary. Extreme had more good songs than most people realize, I had no idea until I started looking them up here on youtube. I think he did a decent job filling in VH, but I'm so glad Dave's back. I saw them in 07 when Dave first came back. It was awesome. They'll never get back the magic from 78-84, but its as close as they'll ever get since they're old now.

  • say what you want, but Eddie was really the best rhythm guitarists ever

  • Ted Danson, lead vocals.

  • its ok but if the vid was in sync it wudve been a lil bit better

  • lol Amen.

  • Man, anyone have the entire show to share? Every torrent I found gets some stupid errors or you need to pay to have access to it.

  • Gotta Admit Gary did good on this one but some of his other performances well have alot to be desired

  • This is the video from 'One I Want' being performed in Sydney. At the start where the audio says 'Are you ready to dance?' Cherone is actually saying 'Sydney Australia, the whole world is watching you tonight!!!'....Eddie then breaks into the opening riff of 'One I Want'. How do I know? I have this show on DVD and used to watch it about 20x a day LOL.

  • Nobody should be singing the Roth-era classics except Roth himself.

  • Cherome definately rocked on all of the "many" roth-era VH tunes that they played on this tour, which were great to hear after a lack of them during the Sammy years. Eventhough not the 'best' fit for VH, Gary still rocked, and the band's sound and tightness was at its best !

  • AMEN

  • He sings better than Roth, not Sammy though

  • gówno!!!! straszne gówno!!!

  • TED DANSON on lead vocals

  • LOL!!! Yeah, he looks a lot like Ted! Gary Cherone was all wrong for VH in my opinion. It's probably why he didn't stay with them long. What's more is that I actually find him out of key a lot in his live performances. Which is strange, because he's a great singer. With Extreme though. One 1 man sings these songs the best....Diamond Dave!

  • Diamond Dave sings this waaaaaaaaaaay better! Gary go home to Extreme!

  • Gary IS back in Extreme. They regrouped in 2007 or 2008 and are active.

  • @littlekicxs86 , you are right. I did not think that Gary was in such bad times. He was good at Extreme.

  • great song...

  • Gary is a good musician, but he does not fit with VH at all.

    Roth>Hagar>Cherone

  • tell u what...i didnt like van halen 3......but gary c has some set of pipes on him.....gr8 singer

  • Yeah!!

But for his band and for his sound.

For me Sammy was the god. Most of the people disagree, and say no dave is the best!

    Ok they are both cool.

Van Lee Roth had it's unique sound,Van Hagar too.But Van Charone just sounds wrong!

  • Gary sucks.

I really don't know how he got his place in Van Halen.I can sing better then him.

  • Gary was good at extreme. But Van Halen sounds weird with Gary. Everyone knows what happenned after Gary entered the band. Eddie entered whysky. That's the truth. I love Eddie, but Gary was a bad choice made by him. Everyone makes mistakes, even the one I most admire in guitar playing.

  • i agree the band played really well on this tour but gary brought them down if they had dlr or hagar it would have been great

  • let hear it then bitch i dont like him either but if you say you can I want to fucking hear it other wish shut your fucking mouth

  • i like gary,,,,but for this band,,,no,,,,he looks wierd on stage,,,making goofey moves,,,,,dlr is by far the best fit

  • put it this way, BETTER THAN SAMMY!

  • What a joke. Watch the BALANCE-videos in 1995. A WAY better than this... maybe check your ears.

  • no, gary is way more enertaining than sammy, & dave is more entertaining than gary.

  • I felt bad for Gary. I thought he deserved better from teh Van Halen brothers. Then again, so did Mike.

  • VH3 is incredibly underrated. Gary is a fucking awesome singer and past all the spite and arguing, the musical work on the album is awesome.

  • best VH lineup ever !

  • florgat91, you should be shot for that comment alone! Haha gimme a break man!

The band does sound tight here though and Gary even sounds ok but for whatever reason....Gary Cherone turns into Fairy Cherone when he preforms on stage!! Spooky!!

  • Garry a PHENOMANAL FRONT MAN

    in HIS OWN RIGHT.

He did not stand a chance with all the A-HOLES out there.

    BIG SHOES HE DID FILL!!!!!

He did a damn good job too.

Van Halen was a band of MUSCIANS.

And always pulled it of to those who see OUTSIDE the BOX!!!

  • I tell ya what,I payed alot of cash to see them in A.C. with wolfgang and Dave and The Show with Gary blew it away musicly in every possable way.Dont know if it was because it was a sober Ed but the AC show was horrable, out of time, out of tune, sloppy, and just did not sound good. Two different Eds there and here.people were actually bitching as we left.True story.

  • At first i thought they pulled a guy out of the audience to sing these 2 songs. Like sometimes bands do in concerts. Naww Gary is a very good singer but not rite for VH.

  • bullshit

  • Gary and VH was good, they should have done a tour then an album, then toured the album it probably would have worked then

  • Big mistake by the VH bros.

  • this tour was actually fuckin awesome....and when you were there live.....Gary sounded great

  • I noticed Gary was slobbering while singing the first song. He really wasn't a good choice for Van Halen. He really should have just tried to sing the songs the way they were supposed to be... he didn't.

  • this is the vid to somebody get me doctor from this tour, ha ha

  • I really felt for Gary, he obviously had big shoes to fill and rather than emulate Dave/Sammy he was just himself. I saw them in Australia and they were awesome.

  • Wow what a bunch of small minded faggots.. Gary was great on this tour, he even knew the words to the songs unlike someone else I know...Eddie was unbelievable on this tour...

  • Gawd this guy blows. As much as some people like to bag on Sammy Hagar, he fit in with the band and Version 2.0 of VH made a lot of good music (and is in fact better for not trying to mimic Roth-era VH). But geez Version 3.0 was a complete disaster.

  • Gary is a great singer and front man, he's just not right for Van Halen! but after Dave who is?

  • Gary Cherone was one of THE worst mistakes VH ever made..damn he sucks.

  • He doesn't suck he's great wit Extreme but not with VH

  • he's not bad at all.

  • i second that

  • Wow, now that i think about it gary's voice sounds like a mix between Dave and sammy's voice

  • mike is the voice of vh

  • Gary rocks! :-)

  • his tone is so awesome in this performance. if all the other van halen albums would've had this much gain on the guitar end i would be very happy.

  • Ted Danson on lead vocal.

  • nice one. that comment made me laugh! hahaha!

  • I caught the VH III show in Cleveland and Columbus and it was phenomenal. I don't think the album was VH's strongest but Gary Cherone is a great singer and frontman and they had a great setlist and show.

  • I also seen VH with Cherone in Detroit. Has it been 10 yrs ago, WOW. Before the concert we were chanting...David, David and by the end of the show we were screaming...GARY, GARY. I was 2nd row and I have to tell you this is in my top 3 shows!!

  • Sammy>David>Gary

  • roth pwns them all. period.

  • agreed

  • This is from Sydney 98 ?

  • el puttoooo no esta kantandooooo

  • Gary is totally great in Extreme, but not so great for Van Halen...I think Roth is the only 1 that fits Van Halen :)

  • I think what Eddie had in store for Gary was deep stuff that he never had a chance to do it with the other 2. don't get me wrong cuz i enjoyed DLR n SH era songs as well, VH3 with Gary din't score well with the fans cuz the songs were very much untypical of previous Van Halen's. BUT, I think it's deep , and it's the best album for me, n I was looking forward for more too... thanks to fanatic Pro-SH or Pro-DLR ppl out there making it a no-can-do

  • david is still the best then gary then terrible sammy

  • i dont want to start an arguement...but

    Sammie is better than Gary

  • they both are great except gary didn't really fit VH

  • Ozzy Sigs better.

  • eddies tone kicks ass here

  • maybe ppl can start listening to Extreme to have a different perspective of Gary perhaps? i'm initially a fan of both van halen n Extreme. to know that at the time that the lead singer of one had gone to other was exciting. i don;t know bout yall but i enjoyed VH3 as much as the previous numbers. different n revolutionized VH altogether n still rocked. seriously, it wouldn't hurt to listen to some Extreme's songs.

  • I caught this tour as well and they were awesome, way better than the reunion with Roth. Gary did an awesome job singing both Dave and Sammy tunes and Eddie's guitar playing was near perfect

  • who is this ass clown?

  • the singer of the greatest band Extreme!!!

  • thumbs up for gary!...it's still van halen!

  • gary cherone is great, and he is very good on these songs, but the truth is that sammy and obviously dave rip him in half on this one. gary just didnt fit in with van halen. this video reminds me more of a tribute band than the true VH - who are soon to be in the studio for an album in 2009, btw...

  • GOD I MISS MIKE , NO OFFENCE WOLFIE

  • They sound fucking great on this...including Gary!

  • I saw this tour in Nashville. It was my 8th Van Halen show. The boys seemed to have more fun on this tour than on any other tour I saw them on, with the possible exception of the 07-08 tour with Roth. After years of Van Hagar, it was great to hear this band play Roth era tunes. Gary might not have been a great fit for this band, but at least he puts on a good show.

  • this is NOT the video. Someone put the audio over video of another song. Is definitely VH3 era van halen, but the video is wrong.

  • Obviously

  • Yup, they are actually playing "One I Want"

  • this is sad they're sitting in their seats that sucks for an Awesome band like van halen

  • Best part of this show would've been the end. Eddie looks like shit (he looks good now...sober?) Gary just not a good fit. Saw them in Houston on their first show, wasn't right. New VH doesn't feel right without Michael. Met Michael hangin in Cabo Wabo bar in Lake Tahoe couple years ago, he was just chillin with his wife, coolest dude you could ever meet (he was playin a gig with his band in Tahoe that weekend).

  • Ya, the III Tour! Awesome! I wished Gary and the boys toured first then released III.

  • gary should move to france with all the other pussies... he's a fag....and easy to spot..

  • The best part of this show would have been when Mikey sang Somebody get me a doctor, then no one had to hear Gary make an abortion of any Van Halen songs as Mikey did justice to Somebody get me a doctor.

  • as soon as the VH bros take the stick outta der asses. sorry ed and al, i love u guys, but ya'll need to wake up.

  • and with dem firing mike anthony. big mistake! that was a big time no no. i mean listen to the mans background vox. am i right? he was the background vox anchor for many years til ed n al jus turned into stubborn fools. i love the guys n worship dem but its too bad it turned out like it did. i know peeps dun like hagar that much but they were strongest with him. plus they had the bigger hits. personally i think dey should jus go bak wit sammy.

  • gary is a good singer and performer but his style wasnt suited for this band. sumtimes it seems that gary tries to harmonize with ed or mike like he's still in extreme. ed and al were jus confused at the time...or they still are to this day. i think der reunion with roth was a little too late. they didnt sound as strong as they used to with the guy. roth couldnt hit the notes he used to and it seemed that the band mostly played the music overpowering the words.

  • i think thats cause they didnt have enough speakers, i saw them live 2008 and it wasnt loud enough

  • When did Ted Danson front for Van Halen???

    (yes, I'm joking)
