ECONOMICALLY, greed is a driver. It is the reason why a) they innovate and b) they meet consumer demands. However, there is a difference between motivational greed and UNETHICAL greed. It's just sad, really.
Here is short version of whats going on: Company like Apple, HP, etc. wants to quickly and cheaply manufacture many units fast, to met consumer demands. Company demands that factory would describe every penny, and manufacture product as fast as possible, barely letting factory get any profit. Factories do their best to assemble fast and as cheaply as possible in order to get profit. Local government is afraid to do anything because town will die in poverty, without cash from factory.
I don't know why the focus lies on Apple, the problem isn't with apple... the problem lies with this screwed up world overall, Greedy companies would screw anyone in a heartbeat for profit, that's the reason they exist after all anyone who thinks the producer of their products is out there to help the people is delusional. I guess the focus on apple lies in the fact that they already have expensive products and large popularity so its natural to expect better care of their workers.
@Sazad93 Why are so many companies greedy. I could see where there were a few but it seems like 98% of companies are greedy and don't care. You would think that there would be more honest people running companies. I guess the big ones are corporations that care only about profits. It's a shame.
@scootergreen3 Well I guess selfishness combined with greed would be the main reason... Its an entity that aims for profit, saying otherwise would be blasphemy for such companies... but I still don't understand how they could sleep at night know their workers aren't getting what they deserve. Look at the music industry and movie industry as-well suing 9 year old and granny and mom for downloading a song or 2 paying 150000 for each one as a fine. look up "Richard o'dwyer" too. Greed... it sad...
@Sazad93 Yes, I always say greed and selfishness go hand in hand. The music and movie industry are a bunch of big babies suing people over copyrights. I have copyrights for my original music but I would never go that far with trivial matters! One thing is for sure though, they won't take it with them and they are going to answer to a Big Jesus (God). Take care. Scootergreen3
Rofl, what complete crap. Its pretty obvious Apple employs companies that don't comply with ethical standards for workers. Apple was supposed to be the little guy standing up to the big guy, something that all these artistic yupees who paid a premium for their devices supported. Now that Apple is stepping on the little guy, Apple users are having a serious case of denial.
This video is bullshit propaganda. Apple already commands a premium price. I'm finally sick and tired of all the plugs Apple's shit receives on this bullshit channel. Unsubscribed.
2:00 - Apple already has a premium price. 100% spot on. Their profit margins would be *HUGE*. They shouldn't have any issues like poor work conditions.
@pompus12 You got that Right! My Imac was $1300. including tax for my 2011 Imac. The 3 month what they call complementary warrenty is out and I can't afford to pay $170. for an extended warrenty. Complementary, they should give at least a two year warrantee after building something and selling it for over a $1000. Then you have to pay $49. for One question. Terrible Greed, while they are making huge profits.
How about a global minimum pay and conditions scheme for a global economy? I'm sure it's complicated and whatever money grubbers would say, however, it would go some way to stop current problems with immoral corporations and their exploitative globalization practices.
Apple is actually talking about all that China thing, they actually have a report which you can download from their official website where they explain what they are doing and what were working conditions they saw. Do other companies like HP, Acer, Motorola, Nokia even acknowledge existence of China?

I'm sure they pay their salespeople minimum wage or not much more. The salespeople don't have much product knowledge.
