Musically and artistically, the Egyptian gift to the world, among so many that this rich culture has given over the history of man on this planet. I never tire of hearing how this gifted singer expresses the words of this song from the very depths of her soul. Truly inspiring!!
My dad is 53 and he loves Um Kalthoum ! He has 10 disks of her ! Even a large poster ! She has a very beautiful voice and she will live in our hearts for ever !
That song ... I used to hear it A LOT in my dad's car when I was young along with many of her great songs
I thank him so much for it ... She was truly the greatest singer who's ever lived ... She influenced Bono from U2, Led Zeppelin .. Even Bob Dylan loved listening to her ... she was truly beautiful

4)The sweet nights and the desire and the love
For so long my heart carried them for you
Taste love with me
Taste love with love
From the feeling of my heart whose desire extended to your feeling
Give me your eyes they reflect my eyes in their world
Give me your hands their touch calms my hands
Oh my darling come on forget about that which has passed us
LNLN123 9 months ago 4
3)I've now begun to fear for the passing of my lifetime
Every joy that I longed for before you was fantasy
My heart and mind meet find it in the light of your eyes
Oh life of my heart, oh you who is more precious than my life
Why didn't I meet your love, my darling, sooner?
LNLN123 9 months ago 5
2)You are my life whose morning began with your light
How much of my life before you has passed and gone by
My darling, how much of my life has gone
My heart never experienced one bit of joy before you
And had never tasted in this world anything but the flavor of injury
I've now just begun to love my life
LNLN123 9 months ago 5

om kolthoum is the legend of music for those who speak arabic. she passed away 35 years ago, but still beloved by everyone.
everytime, i listen to her songs, i feel i am in a different world, a beautiful world.
“Ili shouftou" means what i saw before you"
the first part of the song says:
your eyes reminded me with the old days
now i regret the past and its pains
before i saw you, my life was a waste
you are my life
your light has started my life
moonlite128 1 year ago 5
