@nize117: Hah, you wouldn't want to learn from me because I'm terrible at it. Ive heard of people that have been self-taught just by using sites like cgsociety org. I would also recommend picking up the books The Illusion of Life and The Animator's Survival Kit.
@nize117 draw a picture on paper and take a picture of it, then make another one and do the same thing for about 50,000,000 times until your whole video is animated :P J/K
Have you entered this in Short Film Festivals? Dark subject matter and treatmetn aside, this is a superior film production. I've endured the waste of my time sitting through inane dialogue, appalling camera work and worse acting from grinning, greasy-haired hopefuls who reckon they're the next Spielberg, at every SFF for the last decade!
Instead, your masterpiece quietly shocks, captivates and lingers.
You deserve the rewards you are due, my friend. No doubt about it. 1½ years well spent!
Everything involving eye movement was rendered twice using each texture, with eyes open and with eyes closed. The renders were then compiled and composited together in After Effects to create the illusion of blinking. Thanks for comment and the inquiry!
You're really too kind. You should check out the aniBOOM channel, they have tons of great animations done in Maya, as well as some non Maya animations. Thanks for the comment, Im glad to have creeped you out.
This was quite disturbing and creepy. But it was well done! BRAVO!!!! What were you feeling at the time while making this? And do you recommend the downloadable version of Maya for beginners?
Thanks for the comment! As for what I was feeling hmm It was probably a range of emotions, since it was created over a period of a year and a half. I like to think that I maintain a rather positive demeanor.
I love Maya but it was very overwhelming when I first started using it and Im still not very proficient with it. But I would recommend it for sure, just stick with it.
That was ultra creepy there man! Stylish work there my friend! I would work on the animation some more and there was some clipping with a shadow with the girl sends the note to the locker. Other than that, I like the animation, kinda reminds me a bit like Killer 7 for some reason.
Yeah, rigging and animation really aren't my strongest areas. Thank you for the constructive criticism, I really appreciate it.
You may be feeling a Killer 7 vibe because of the talking head, the agitated/moving text, and the use of cel-shading. Susie is the talking dismembered head you encounter on several occasions throughout the game. Also, the game features text that is constantly moving, but in a different fashion from mine.
The text also reminded me a bit like Killer 7 also, especially with the sound effects at the beginning. Your modeling is very good I have to say, especially on this video. By the way, if you liked Killer 7, I recommend checking out No More Heroes.
I loved No More Heroes! Goichi Suda has another game coming out here soon for the Nintendo DS called Flower, Sun, and Rain. I've played the European release, it has the same odd story telling and gameplay of Suda's other games.

very nice, could you tell me how you made the texture change to make him blink while animating?

man working on this for over a year and a half must have been quite depressing lol. But the end result was awesome!
Slightly dark...but none the less amazing

I think what's most depressing is spending a year and a half for only 10 minutes of animation. : ) Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you liked it!
