Mai is the equivalent of Chun-li from Street Fighter, and probably the most popular female in the game, so yes it's a must for her to be in this game. You've probably never met a good Mai.

@VikingPhobos It does not mean all that much. And no I never actually fought anyone who knew how to use Mai appropriately. Mai was better off in Fatal Fury. Everything would have probably been better if SNK did not exaggerate her character. A handful of her moves always came across as awkward, even for a ninja (a very visible one). KOF XI went along without Mai for awhile (until console release), but before then, it was still a good game. Popularity does not equal quality.
