Mike what's up can I record with the usb my full set for a night with music mixes and me talkin on the will that come thru when I save the file and can I use the mixer with virtual dj 5.2 for mac using the HC4500
Yes, you can output the sound to whatever source you like, the HC400 has a built in sound card which uses the ASIO driver to split the sound, I had trouble with the 5.2 with the MAC, but no problems with the PC.
How do you spit the outputs to work with the C3USB? In this video you have the left channel hooked up to channel 4 when it should be on channel 3. Left should be on 3 and Right on 4 on the mixer so you can crossfade. Somewhere in Cue you have to choose but I don't see it.
Mike I would like to ask you a question about this setup... I have a macbook pro and am trying to find DJ mixers and controllers to work with it... my question is where you show two USB cables plugged into the left side at 2:06 in the video... how is that possible? on my macbook pro on the left side I only have a magLOCK power input, 1 USB input, then a line in and headphone jack...
wow thats cool... I dont know why but mine does not ha. it have two firewire ports and a USB on my right and on my left only one USB... this is strange
so the mixer has the two usb sound cards in it.... the reason i asking is because i have the dmc2 and cue le (the basic one). but i have to use dj io for that. but if i got a usb mixer i wouldn't need dj io
Just got the cm200usb. Cue LE does not show the external mixer setting in the sound options. Tried the trial ver Cue 5. The mixer works correctly. What am i doing wrong?
Hi, I watched some of your videos, good stuff. I wanted to know if the Numark dmc2 will work smoothly with serato ssl. The ssl site says they have native support for it, but I don't see many people using them together.
thanks, I'm not sure on the Native Support for Serato Scratch Live. The DMC2 should send it's signals safely to ssl as long as the 2 companies have worked together on their configs.
Becasue i realized the usb mixer was taking up 2 usb ports, and the controller another usb port...that's 3 ports...really all you need is 1 port if you use the HC4500 because of the built in sound card....seems more sensible doesn't it..
its nice, but the denon has a lot more versatility...DENONHC4500 with the built in sound card gives you two channels out to any mixer...DMC2 just gives you control over the software....so your getting a nice sound card plus a controller, plus it works and talks to virtual dj...just click the button in virtual dj..and evertying is set..!!
CUE LE is the same as the full version, however the LE version ships with their products that they sell..It will only work with the device plugged in. This prevents you from buying the item and installing the software then returning the hardware. You will see the LE(Light Edition) used quite often with many vendors that bundle hardware and software.
Here's another simple question fired at you. Will the "Que Le DJ" software work with the mac? I think I saw you using a mac but I'm not sure. Is it compatible with the mac? If yes, with Tiger? Leopard? Jaguar?
This might be stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. I currently use a Denon D-4000 and love it, except of course for the fact that it doesn't have the scratch feature. I like this setup cuz it connects to my PC but my question is, is it possible to use it as stand-alone system or do you NEED a laptop in order for it to run? Thank you! : )
In order to manipulate mp3s on a computer with an external hardware you need to have a device that talks "MIDI". So if the CDJ800 can talk MIDI then YES. Just reading the specs it recognizes MP3's that are on a CD insereted into the device. Thanks and hope this helps !!
does this numark cm-2000usb generate background noise when used via its usb in particular in its use with a computer? is there a hysterisis or lag on the mixer controls as well when used via its usb? thanks.
no background noise. I did not notice any lag, it really comes down to the speed of your computer. All the latency settings can be adjusted within the software.
sorry, i should have been more specific, in that i mean generation of noise using the numark cm-200usb mixer and the computer only without any other controler or equipment in there. maybe, the dmc2 has a filter to take out noise. thanks.
well, the 2 usb connections go straight into seperate usb ports on the computer. What kind of noise are you talking about? USB NOISE? or GROUND LOOP NOISE maybe?
I understand now. You should be able to select the audio output that you want. So in theory if you are using CUE LE to dj with and you launch another application that applications should not play the sound from its interface unless you specify it.
i used the "yahoo music jukebox" on my pc to play the music and when the pc was connected to the built in usb connection on the receiver i got clean sound but when i tried to connect the computer with a usb mixer there was a background noise at constant time interval as the music played. thanks.
just bought a numark dmc2 got my cm200 usb on order .Iwas wondering can you use the crossfader on the mixer when using the cue le software or do you have still use that audio control on the dmc2 also previewing a track does that work ok .
yea you can use the crossfader on the mixer to mix between channels, but the crossfader on the software is not controlled by the crossfader on the mixer. does that make sense?
Your Turntables would plug into the device that comes with virtual DJ vinyls, which in turn would plug into your mixer. You would scratch from the turntables or mouse. The DMC controller would have to be compatible with VDJvinyls to work.
Thanks for your reply, um buying the same controler and mixer that you have, do you know if they will work if i connect all to a USB port Hub? my computer only has 2 USB ports
Hi, im planing on buying this controler, is it a problem if i dont have a USB mixer? can i plug the controler to the computer and the controler to the mixer for each chanel? o how many outputs does the controler have on the back?, Is it better than the Total Control? or have you ever had any problems with it?.
The external controller gives you the freedome of controlling the software on your laptop without having to use the mouse. The controller will plug in via USB port and send command and controls to the software.
DMC2 is great for a 19inch rack which lets you control your software on your laptop it ships with CUE LE. CUE LE will not run without the DMC2 plugged in though.
TO get your audio out you need something like DJIO to get your sound out with a mixer or am. Or you can use a 1/8inch jack to left and right RCA phono plugs into the back of your mixer.
The mixer is using 2 seperate USB ports to seperate left and right channels. The controller also has a USB channel. I eventually switched to the XPONENT becuase I could do the same thing with one USB PORT.
can u do some contolerism or scratching with this dj console. like can u manipulate the corsfader in another video while scratching ... id like to see if i want this ..
hey man i have everithing you have but i cant hear the music in both chanel maybe is the configuration in the computer if can you help me whit this thanks
Can you just put a small USB hub into the rack? Both mixer sound cards and the DMC2 would go into the hub then one usb from the hub to the notebook. leaves room for the usb hard drive.
I ended up with the xponent , uses 1 usb cable to mix between both channels. But I suppose you could plug in another device like a usb hub ...but just something else to deal with.
You should mention that you don't have to use a USB mixer, and could instead use a multichannel quality sound card, and then only use one USB for the controller, and then just audio cables for the separate decks. Additionally, the annoying window "are you sure you want to.." will only come up if the track is playing when you try to load a new track. If you stop the track before loading a new track, this problem does not occur.
No. If you stop the track before loading a new track, then NO window comes up, and you do not have to reach up to your laptop. Additionally, the purpose of a controller is so that you can have a tactile surface to work with, and do more than one thing at a time, as the mouse can only click on thing at a time.
The annoying window that comes up if you do not stop the track first, is a live safety feature. Personally, I think it is annoying as well, and shouldn't be there, as a professional DJ doesn't need VDJ to hold your hand through the mixing process... but if you get in the habit of stopping the track first, like I have, it is not a problem, and you never see the window.
Lastly, I want make sure you understand I intend no disrespect at all, just trying to add some clarification. And as for the Xponent, I love the look of that controller, and it is definitely a better solution. I may go that way eventually, either when VDJ has full support for the Xponent, or maybe I'll eventually just move to Torq. :)
"either way you have to reach up to your laptop to hit yes or no" -- Go into config, click the options tab, look for the item called "security" which is on the setting "Ask", click the button until it says, "none".... problem solved, it will never do it again.
DOES VDJ use MIDI? If so you can easily program the xponent to work with it. I have made the xponent work with MEGASEG by just assigning the midi controls in the software.
The XPONENT uses only 1 usb port to your laptop and you can CUE up your songs easily. So its like taking everything in this video and squeezing it into one feather light device.
VDJ does use MIDI, but it doesn't send midi. Because of this, the Xponenet controls will work, but nothing will light up, and I don't know if the wheels will work as touch sensitive or not. You may know this already, but VDJ is the same program as Cue.
Hey, something I've been wondering about with the DMC2 controller, is whether the wheels are touch sensitive? Or in other words, if you are in scratch mode, and you put your finger on the wheel, and just hold it completely still, does the song keep playing, or does it remain stopped, regardless of whether you are moving the wheel?
Yeah, I like the look of the Xponent. Wish it was more compatible with VDJ, as I am not sure if Torq is going to be a fit for me. The Xponent is an excellent looking mixer/controller :)
this file will load a default midi mapping for the Xponent in Virtual DJ 5.0 for Win and Mac Go to Options > remotes tick the midi option then press mid options then press load
Please Note that this will not flash the xponents lights as this would need a native mapper which may be added in the future

Hi Mike
Im interested in putting together a DJ system using a laptop.
Can you tell me what all I would need to fulfill this task?
I appreciate any help you can share, such as brand names you would recommend & any tips you have on operating ideas.

The DJIO is a USB soundcard with two channels for output. About 99 US dollars. If you go with the DMC2 this would work with it.
so i paid 400 us dollars for HC4500. DMC2 price + DJIO price would tell you the direction to go in.
