I really feel sorry for kids in the last 12 years of modern music because we still here songs like this on the internet, radio, tv, ads, and a ton more of media sources. Kids today will not get that opportunity mainly because todays music is made to be disposable and the real music between 65 to 82 has lasted for over 50 years and will last much longer. Unfortunatly the common source is that between those years the artists controlled the music back then and not the producers of today.
Awesome. Loved it when it came out. I was a Senior in HS in 1976, met The still love of my life in 1977, and yes, She's Still The One. It's our story. Thanks, Donney
this song reminds me of living in arkansas when clinton was govenor ironically this was in the movie 'primary color' with john travolta and kathy bates
@Juliaflo Or because the majority of people don't care about what good music sounds like and because artists can get away with making shitty music and still make millions. It's quite a sad world today with music...hence the reason why I listen to Metal and hardcore shit....but i always can respect oldies such as this song.
@MrPapa12gauge What the crap is wrong with u if u don't like it don't watch it. now go watch your stupid justin bieber music videos and go rain on somebody else's parade. CRAP YOU FREAKIN' CRAP YOU!!!!
Right on with that gutteral trash. If I may embellish, "Gutteral White Trash !" What they call talent is nothing more than a bunch of self aggrandizing wannabes.
they used this song topromote wivb buffalo news. I am canadian and I remember this and then they would say ïts 11 oçlock do you know where your children are ?? lol and I would hope and pray the parents didn 't hear that broadcast about the time omg my turn hahaha
I used to play this song for my sweetie when we were first together. Know what, we're still playing along to it. Yep, its been 35 years and He's still the ONE!
I hear this song and it takes me back to a world that was normal and i could understand. Good times and no bigger concern than getting a beer and laid on a Friday night. The world seems crazy now. I feel like crying!!
As a 70's dude, I can tell you that this song represented the fun and memories of that decade like no other among the young and old of that time...and I mean people 5 to 65 loved this song!!!
I really love this 1976 hit by Orleans. I sang this song as a kid. ABC made a lot of commercials with this song when they were dominating the television ratings from the late 1970's all the way to 1980. This song still has the magic and will always have the magic!
I'm only 15 but my dad and mom's music has had an huge influence on me (Billy Joel, The New Radicals, Rick Springfield, Supertramp, etc) and I just rediscovered this song and WOW. Although I also like today's music (teeny-bopper and a few rap songs), I can actually feel the soul in this song. This is a song I'd wanna belt in the car (if I had one). It's soulful and true, unlike most music today.
I totally agree with the coolest dad. Songs in the 70's were much more creative, despite the fact that the money had a big influence already.Just listen to the f***ing autotune in almost every hitsong!
Love the lyrics. I made up half of them. Song still sounded the same. lol. Instead of changing . I thought it was Jane are love is unrehearst. Sounded good to me.
songs like this will never die out. These type of songs are classic and are always right on time. However, this generation of music, may be the one generation of music that great songs like this will never fit into, because these songs were written and performed by talented musicians and not the gutteral trash that is coming out these days. These songs from the 70's andeven the 60's are timeless and can never be touched or outdone.
@southroncross It does to me too.I can't imagine being a teenager or in my 20's in this day and time. The music is horrible and I don't even call it music.I have two daughters 17 and 20 and they know a lot of my music. One daughter has a lot of 80's stuff on her I Pod and they both know the good stuff. However I guess because they are young some stuff does appeal to them from this generation. But thankfully not rap. They both listen to a lot of Christian music too which makes me happy.
@thecoolestdad My youngest brother and sister listened to the music I did when they were very young. They still have an appreciation for it, while at the same time, finding artists from their own time that they like. I guess thats all we can ask, isn't it?
@southroncross yeah you're right. My brother and 2 sisters grew up in the 60's and 70's as I did and luckily they like the same stuff as I do,with a few exceptions.I don't care for country but the 2 sisters do some.me and brother rock out but I listen to a good bit of southern gospel, black gospel and praise & worship music too.My daughters and I are musicians at our church so we are influenced by our church music too.So we have a good variety but my roots are 60's 70's 80's.
@thecoolestdad I grew up listening to classic country and bluegrass. Its what my parents listened to, and, they gave me a great love for both. I picked up classic rock from older cousins, and, I got into jazz like Coltrane and Metheny in college. My oldest brother turned me onto very early alternative (REM, dBs, etc) while he was attending UNC. I come from church-going folks as well, so, that music is as big a part of my faith as the Bible. He gave us a great gift with music, didn't He?
@southroncross That is so true.I also grew up listening to the old country stars from the 50's and 60's.I played drums in rock bands in the 70's and 80's so I gravitated to that more than country as a teenager.I'm 52 now my brother is 50 and sisters are46 & 48.Good time to grow up.
I know that this song doesn't seem like a typical "romantic" song, but I honestly think this is one of the most romantic songs ever. The whole idea of someone still thinking you are the most amazing person after being together for so long is beautiful and rare, especially with all of the people getting divorced now a days. It gives me hope that I'll find someone who will adore me forever and that it won't just be a phase! :) Thanks Orleans! lol
IIRC, Bush Jr. used this song during one of his campaigns
John Hall, a staunch Democrat, didn't take too kindly to that and stated quite clearly that he had not given Dubya permission to use it, and it was promptly yanked
Ironically, McCain also tried it in 2008, with similar results
I don't think he made much mention of Ted Kennedy's use of it though (hee hee)
@Ricine Ha ha - yeah, and then there's that country song (can't remember the title) where they say, "When did Motley Crue become classic rock?" Wow, time flies.

@TheGrandeMartini It happens, I've come across a few songs that I thought was someone else like "All For You" by Sister Hazel. For the longest I thought it was Blues Travelers
@mscongeniality1966 I think it was ABC that used this song.I remember it on the TV when I was a kid.You know, back when we were lucky to get three channels.
I like to thank Ms. Miller who taught @ Washington elementary in Danville, IL. She introduced me to rockn roll. I will love this song forever. It was there that I trully learned that music is the Universal language.
@lolwut71 It was their official theme for their 1987 Stanley Cup run, They played it everytime they scored a goal at home (Northlands Coliseum, now Rexall Place in Edmonton). During the 7th game of the Cup Finals, the place went apeshit when Oiler winger /Hall Of Famer Glenn Anderson scored to make it 3-1, one of the most dramatic goals in Cup Finals history, they went on to win the series and the joy of sipping champagne from Lord Stanley's Mug
@xExystancex There were so many great bands back then, it was mind boggling when you think of it. I guess when you look back your realize you took it for granted.
@xExystancex I did, and I'd give anything to do it all over again. I don't hear anything today that comes close to the music of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. One thing, you have most all of it here.

ABC rewrote the lyrics and changed the beats for the 1977-78 campaign, and again for the 1979-80 season.
This was to reflect that ABC was the network to watch back in the late 1970s.
ABC was hot with existing hits like Happy Days, Charlie's Angels, Welcome Back Kotter, Starsky and Hutch, etc.
ABC was even more hotter with newcomers like The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Hart to Hart, etc.
Monday Night Football and Wide World of Sports made the sports division #1, along w/primetime shows

I don't know about the Dynasty years, but know ABC or CBS used it as their network song for awhile!

Edmonton Oiler Fans...didn't they play this all the time in the Dynasty Years of the 80s??
lolwut71 1 year ago

I guess when you look back your realize you took it for granted.
mustang73ism 6 months ago 3
@xExystancex I did, and I'd give anything to do it all over again. I don't hear anything today that comes close to the music of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. One thing, you have most all of it here.
