How to change the LCD Screen on a Sony Ericsson W580 / W580i

i really need your help. my cell phone screen went completely black. it was just out of the blue. i can still make calls and receive them. it was this phone, the one you're fixing. no water damage, i don't know how many times it was dropped or thrown (it's my friend's phone; she let me borrow it). i mean, one minute it's fine and the next the screen is black. just black. everything else works but the screen. HELP!!! PLEASE!!! thanks :]

I wonder if anyone can enlighten me on how the get the back cover back on my w580.. (not the batter cover but the other bit) I can clip the bottom bits in but not the ones at the top with the on/off switch!!

LCD Screen for sony ericsson are very dear i bought one of my mate he had spare 5.00GBP it was very easy to put new screen on my phone otherwise there like 18.00-40.00 online for what ive saw ,

Unfortunately the design for the phone seems to have changed recently...there were two metal clips attached to the inside of the front cover that "hugged" my LCD screen and pulled it right off. Nothing broke, (as far as I could tell...the LCD wasn't working anyway) but I'm fairly sure I didn't put it back together in a satisfactory manner.

@StevoDesign Mine had the same clips. the metal frame bent a little when i took it off of the front cover. but mine went back in ok and everything's working fine now. the clip on the end of the strip was loose in mine. i just had to push it back into place. my old W580 didnt have those clips, as i used it as a guinea pig before i messed with my new one. it scared me when the screen came with the front! i thought i had broken it. XD

can anybody post the link where can I buy the LCD online ... Please my screen goes off after i slide the phone.... turns totally black... I dont know if it is the problm with the LCD or the phone itslelf... even if it is on the screen shows dots all over....

Sounds like your slide mech is going and the ribbon maybe slightly worn out or damaged. I dont think thats an LCD fault

sorry there is no way to fix it...i'd call the sony company n it take $135 to fix it...it make me so mad...try to take a luk at the fone under the sunlight..you can see it a little bit!!! :|

I think I can fix it with this video if I get a new screen but the thing is that my parents are NEVER going to buy ANYTHING over the internet... So eBay is not an option... Does anyone know where I can buy the LCD screen replacement??? To specify I live in Canada, Alberta, Edmonton... So please help me because I really want to fix it but I can't find any stores for spare parts... Thank you =S

I bought one off the internet last week. Came in from New York in a few days, and was very inexpensive. I followed this tutorial, and now my phone is fixed. Tell your parents to get off the ark and walk around the new world that God has created for them. (buy the darn screen)
