Its in Icy Strait, in Alaska. I was in a motor boat, but I have been kayaking and seen Orcas. In a month, humpback whales are migrating to a bay near me, and I plan to film them from a kayak.

The native tribes of Alaska are allowed, Athabaskans, Tlingit. But they use the whole whale and do not kill by the thousands. It is quite a difference.

These are one of the most beautiful creatures on earth and unfortenatly also one of the most endangered species.

The website Care2 has started an action to collect signatures from people to oppose the whale hunting. Not only from Japan but also from Iceland.

Pls. take 5 minutes to go to that site, add it as favorite and sign the petition. It's just a little effort but might have a great impact for the future of these endangered animals.

i actually seen killers whales in the flesh. back in 2001 they entered cork harbour and swam up river right into the south jetty in the city centre. a day i will never forget. a truly beautiful creature.thanks 5 stars

why is it flapping it's tail on water?

when the tail (fluke) hits the water, it resonates a loud sound for miles underwater. It serves as a warning to other whales/pods. It also serves for communication.
