not private land at all.. public access footpath in a field down road.. if you have high quality zoom on your cam can get right in close... the planes lterally fly over your head about 300ft up..

That runway has suffered quite a lot of subsidence - like a fairground ride lol! I'm not gonna fly in or out of that place, but then who does, it's Birmingham and who'd go there - full of shit!

you found just the angle to show how darned AWKWARD those crabby flares are, trying to kick the nose straight w rudder & touch down before the thing starts drifting... even airliner manuals (like MD-11) say to start kicking straight at 100ft and to do a little slip, but slipping a swept wing plane is not fun... almost better to touchdown in a slight crab...

I'm glad I found this vid. About 15 years ago, I landed at BHX at midnight in January and I swore that the plane landed on the right undercarriage, then the left, then both, but no-one I've told believes me. I was sitting over the wings and one moment you were looking down on cars on the M42, and the next you could see the stars. I've had worse flights, but that was one memorable landing!

It's not really a 'short' runway, you can't see some of it, it's in a dip! It'sjust over a mile and a half long (2.6km)

It looks shorter in this view than it is - though at about 2600 metres it's not very long in international terms. There are political and other difficulties in extending it, but they are planning to add a few hundred metres to it in the next few years.

on the second landing the whole 737 was sitting on the right landing gear that must have stressed or almost broke the right gear. watch it again at 0:27 seconds.

The airport was built around the time of the second world war - with a grass strip for a runway - and I guess they didn't bother too much about this sort of thing then.

It is on quite a high zoom - it's too far to see much with unaided eyes (except when the planes actually pass over you). You might be able to find somewhere closer with a decent view of the runway, but you will probably need to do a bit of exploring.

Is this a view from up on the grassland behind the Coventry Road? And is that the Coventry Road just beneath the camera shot because you can see traffic, so I'm guessing so.

Also BHX has a lot of bmibaby flights going in and out so it makes sense. I work near the NEC and I also see planes coming it at all sorts of angels because of the wind, especially recently.

It's an unusual view, but it is Birmingham. In the first shot, the three tall thin chimneys on the right are in the works off Kitts Green Road, and you can see the Bromford and Erdington tower blocks in the background.
