Maybe you are forgetting South Vietnam was fighting Northern Aggression for 20 years bombing NVA/VC. In 1972 we had only 65,000 troops in country. I know you are an idiot and you need to get a better education.

Your description is completely ridiculous. America arrived with 300 advisors in 1962... that's 8 years after the French left. And the South Vietnamese didn't believe it was a civil war? They had been fighting for 3 years(really 6 since a heavy American presence was not submitted until 1965) with the Viet Cong and NVA. 30,000 South Vietnamese fought in Saigon even knowing there was no chance for victory. They were overwhelmed of course but they did not surrender, they sure as hell fought.

The war in Iraq and Afghanistan are a new unconventional warfare were the the amount of civilian deaths are the main priority. So rules of engagement and guerilla warfare "which the Taliban favour" make progress hard. Terrorism will never be stopped but succeeding in uniting the people against terror will be achieved.

I was a helicopter Pilot up near the DMZ 1968-1969. My crew did its best to kill anyone who shot at us or was carrying a weapon. The VC / NVA seemed to be trying their best to kill us. I now hold No grudges, I respect and think highly of ALL warriors who had the courage to fight for the cause they believed in. May the Gods grant all of us peace for the rest of our lives. nice video. I was in vietnam for one month in 2006. I really got messed up in there. But i cannot really accuse the people for it after what they have gone through. Beatiful country though. Every year North Vietnam would send another 100,000 high school graduates south as fresh NVA soldiers. Every year later most NVA sent south would be dead from wounds, bombs, disease.
North Vietnam killed 650,000 school teachers, mayors, mailmen, taxcollectors, government and civil workers. The North was hard core Soviet style communists willing to kill all who would challenge their authority. They North would even chop the arms off little children that sold warm soda to GI's on the highways

If you study the ancient wars of Empires, most were fought for something profitable. Like land or gold or resources.
What did we in the US get out of Vietnam? Rice?,,,what did it profit us. Nothing. We killed over 3.5 million Vietnamese,,,,and we lost 58,000 of our own,
And FOR WHAT?
The people running our country want to just drag us down into stupid non-profitable wars. It only makes the big war contractors like Halliburton and KBR rich. But we get screwed!

Actually I hate Communism. We could fight against communism better by winning the hearts and the minds of the people, but the problem is the capitolists get greedy and don't try to help the people, so then the communists come in and say " We will help you from the evil capitolists" . But they don't tell them that they will live like slaves with no freedom under communism. I hate both systems, but I guess that people will have more freedom with a capitolist society.

American fought the Viet Nam war with both hands tied behind its back and by the poor who could not avoid being drafted. We knew we were the bottom of the barrell but also were the toughest. Viet Nam was a tragedy for American youth and their only crime was they answered the call to duty.

The American imperialists use the most horrific, sophisticated and modern machines and weapons in the world at the time, including the use of deadly and poisonous gas and chemicals in the war against Viet Nam. Additionally, Americans usually bombed down a suspected area before sending in troops. Hence saying that the American soldiers were fighting "with hands tied behind their backs" is very narrow minded and stupid - reasoning of the bitter and sore looser.

@6262742 The US wasn't in Vietnam for 20 years, our troops were there fighting from 1965-1973, I count that as 8 years and we didn't bomb North Vietnam all those years. Maybe you are forgetting South Vietnam was fighting Northern Aggression for 20 years bombing NVA/VC. In 1972 we had only 65,000 troops in country. I know you are an idiot and you need to get a better education.

the first peacetalkes in paris get stucked.
so the US Airforce intensified their bombardment. Then the second peacetalks became a success. it was because of the US citizen that the USA pull out of vietnam.

Your description is completely ridiculous. America arrived with 300 advisors in 1962... that's 8 years after the French left. And the South Vietnamese didn't believe it was a civil war? They had been fighting for 3 years(really 6 since a heavy American presence was not submitted until 1965) with the Viet Cong and NVA. 30,000 South Vietnamese fought in Saigon even knowing there was no chance for victory. They were overwhelmed of course but they did not surrender, they sure as hell fought.

Looking back through history most wars were devastating to civilian life, through both sides not caring just killing. "world war 1 and 2" for example. The war in Iraq and Afghanistan are a new unconventional warfare were the the amount of civilian deaths are the main priority. So rules of engagement and guerilla warfare "which the Taliban favour" make progress hard. Terrorism will never be stopped but succeeding in uniting the people against terror will be achieved.

You have to visit Vietnam and you will quickly realize that the Americans didn't loose the war, it was the Vietnamese and now they are just realizing it they are wondering was it worth it and it wasn't. Communism is still in the North but is fading fast in the South. They realize communism cant even feed its own people. The sad part is so many people from all sides lost there life and it was all for nothing. Its a fabulous place to visit and I wish the people of Vietnam well.
