He must be real proud of himself threatening to remove a 70 year old man by force,I suppose the state trooper is just doing his job but does he really have to be a dick about it?
The reason why the democrats and republicans meet in the shadows to keep third parties out is because they know that if each of them only have to compete with each other, each of them is guaranteed to win at least almost half of the time.
ralph handles this situation masterfully. "i'm not a security risk. this is a political exclusion." even that dumb pig of a cop can't deny that he is doing something wrong for trying to arrest a presidential candidate.
There should be a coalition of third parties to try to push through between elections into publics attention. Not just of progressive parties, but also of conservatives too. United in the purpose of letting the different voices in America heard. And as a flag they should have the "don't treat on me" slogan written under the imagine of a segmented snake, to invoke the greatest spirit of American liberty.
we have a two party dictatorship. most americans are as brainwashed to vote for two people as much as Iraqis were brainwashed to vote for one person, Saddam Hussein
The corporate owned Dems and Reps are in collusion to keep third parties out. Watch Obama let the people down. He's already doing it with his Flip Flops on telecom immunity, single payer and the Iraq War. He's a lesser evil than Mcain who's a nut job and can't control his temper. We're in serious tbl in this country and it's the people who give their vote cheaply.
Their punishment is really damn ridiculous. Make a committee backed by billionaire corporations pay 50,000 dollars??? Nader didn't want money! And 50k was oocket change for these guys! The commission was probably laughing into the sleeves as they handed over the money. Putting a statement of apology and putting it in ever major news source would be justice, then hand over the commission to a non-biased government organization. Why's this group of blasted lobbyists and corporations even involved?
This makes me angry... Corporations should not, MUST NOT, have any influence on the outcome of an election. Excluding a valid respectable candidate from a debate that many people use to make their choice is completely un-American.
Gotta go listen to some nice music now... Take a break from politics.
The problem is the same corporations and politicians responsible for excluding him from the debates in media, would've also prevented a story like that in the "news".
The story doesn't end with 3rd party exclusion. 2008 showed Democrats and republicans excluding their own candidates from their respective debates, being Ron Paul, Kucinich and Gravel. Again, Nader, Barr, Baldwin & McKinney on enough state ballots to win are excluded.
Why? They all anti war & anti corporate coruption.
They are atate police. They're not suppossed to exploited by the Presidential Debate Comision to threatnen to arrest someone who was not a secuity threat and had a valid invatation to watch the debates. You can see from this video Nader is never confrontational so it was totally overboard.
That's the thing though, police, like the military, are not permitted to follow an illegal order. In fact you are instructed that illegal orders are exactly---illegal.
Nader himself points this out, namely that the state police are being abused here.
See how threatening that Cop acted? Boy oh boy would I have LOVED to see that crowd of 5 thousand protesters pummel that motherfucker in the ground like the Macho piece of shit he is!!!
The campaign should be, "Look at what our party has done for you in the past four years." But neither party is doing that. They are arguing how they are going to do things different. They have had years to do things different but they do nothing to help America.
Remember, this year the Democarts & Republicans excluded their own candidates from their respective debates-Ron Paul, Kucinich & Gravel.
Whether candidates challenge from outside parties or from within, if you're for ending the war on terror, foreign occupation, against corporate bailouts at taxpayers expense, against military expansion when US is in debt then you're a marginalised candidate(blacked out by media) representing the silenced majority.
Look at how the Republican party promoted George Bush in 2000. They knew they had a lacky tool who would fulfill their agenda. I am a conservative and I have no idea what that agenda was... put America $10 trillion in debt? Destroy the economy? Make oilmen rich? Destroy the middleclass? The parties have agendas and we must destroy the parties by voting 3rd party in local, state and national elections.
Nader did the right thing. He walked away from the situation like a true Hero -- not a scumbag, low-life. I really hope Americans wake up to his message and fight the plight of their freedom being taken away by corporate and elite supremacist low-lives. Macbama among them, kill the king!!
Nader did the right thing. He walked away from the situation like a true Hero -- not a scumbag, low-life. I really hope Americans wake up to his message and fight the plight of their freedom being taken away by corporate and elite supremacist low-lives. Macbama among them, kill the king!!
the debate committee are the ones who think they know what's best for the ENTIRE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE this is an outrage and this cop who is just "following orders" is literally selling us all out..it's deranged and depressing..we're so FUCKED..where's the next protest?
mdtrudeau... are you working for the RNC or DNC? I have looked at your profile... there is nothing there. You are advocating more government involvement. You are advocating a dependence on government. You don't sound like an American interested in change... you sound like a mouthpiece of the the establishment.
I'm mdt187 & mdtrudeau. I work for neither the RNC nor the DNC. I've volunteered for Nader/Gonzalez. I advocate more govt involvement in the financial system, yes, in terms of regulating it. And I believe in government-enforced consumer protection. Because we should know by now that the capital system is not self-regulating. I'm no different from Nader on this. I'm suggesting that we not take govt for granted, but it sounds like you're suggesting we dismantle govt & depend solely on the dollar.
But GM has failed to listen. So Americans started buying up the Prius. Hmmm? The market created an alternative. It is sad that so many people are going to lose their jobs because GM wouldn't listen. It didn't listen when Nader was pointing out the deathtraps it was rolling out and it hasn't ever listened. Eventually it will go out of business. Should the government offer a bailout because a lot of people are going to lose jobs. I heard on the radio that GM is offering a flex-fuel car in 2010.
The bottom line is Ralph Nader will point America in the direction we need it to go. Corporations have had a 99.9% success rate in keeping Nader out of the news, out of the debates, even sending police officers after him when he tried to attend the debates as a citizen.
If Nader had more media attention. If he was allowed to debate. His percentage points would go straight through the roof. This man represents America to its core! The other 2 candidates are on a corporate pony ride!
Share this video giving details on the 3rd party debate between Nader, McKinney & Baldwin as allies against the 2 coporate parties.
Look up youtube video entitled:
" DEBATE 19 OCTOBER 2008 - SUNDAY "
Debate is on 18th Oct. in NY, reportedly with Amy Goodman as moderator, and C- span reportedly going to show the debates.
Spread the word online & tell people to organise watching the debates with their friends & family to refreshing discusion on issues in the Presidential election.
I voted for Nader last time around, and I plan on voting for him again since Ron Paul has dropped out, but whenever I mention his name to any of my friends or acquaintances I hear the same thing, "he doesn't stand a chance, your just throwing your vote away." I hear that so much in fact, that I believe if everyone who said that went with their gut and supported who they wanted to support then Nader WOULD stand a chance.
No offense meant, but you're obviously voting for the people and not issues; Paul and Nader couldn't be further apart.
Ron Paul is against government, so things like requiring seat belts in cars, environmental regulation, and single-payer health care (to name three of Nader's concerns past and present) would be completely off the table.
If you believe in what RP stands for, you're better off voting Libertarian. If you agree with RN, you should vote Green, where your vote helps build a party.
none taken....neither Paul, or Nader is 100% right, nobody is, but from what Ive seen of Barr and Mckinney i wasn't real impressed with. Baldwin might be ok if he wasn't a bible thumper. I also like the fact that Nader does not have a party. Independent..., no party affiliations, no loyalties, bosses....except for the American people.
You're mistaken when you're saying that RN and RP couldn't be further apart. Please search for: Ron Paul "four key principles". Those are 4 principles that Ron Paul and all third party candidates, except Barr, agreed upon. In my opinion these four issues are the most important ones. So, RN and RP are much closer to each other than, say, Obama or McCain and Ron Paul, or Obama or McCain and Nader.
But why would people buy a car that doesn't have a seatbelt? Isn't it more about personal choice? But people don't want to go without a car. Nader did a good thing making an issue of seatbelts, but why did the government have to step in? If Americans had stopped buying cars for one week, the big three would have put seatbelts in cars.
This has taught us to become dependent on the gonvernment to solve our problems. When we have all the power in our own wallets.
People bought cars w/o seatbelts because car manufacturers were making cars without seatbelts. There is no personal choice there. Do you understand? Your statement is an example of the heart of Libertarian ideology, and it's really amazing that you think it's rational. Under the guise of choice, competition, and anti-"nanny government" regulation, Libertarians merely help manufacturers make shittier products that are more dangerous to consumers.
But Americans weren't willing to stand up to the big-three with their wallets. Consumers help the proliferation of shittier products. Just like we have helped the proliferation of shity candidates. We are buying what they are selling. What are Americans driving now? Not gas-guzzling piece-of-shit American cars. Why? Because they are gas guzzling pieces of shit. But we still vote for gas-guzzling pieces of shit.
Currency & consumers aren't as powerful as you think, & they never will be. B/c there will always be a company & consumers who will sell & buy the lowest denominator--let's say, for ex, children's toys made w/ lead paint. You can't just HOPE the market takes care of such unpleasantries, no--some things must be illegal. Libertarian ideology is purely capitalistic in this way--it doesn't believe in law; more accurately, the dollar is its law. The citizen is merely consumer; the citizen is dollar.
You are saying people are too stupid to make the right decision when buying a product. So the government must help them make the right decision. In essence you are saying people are too stupid to make the right choices, so the government must decide for them.
So government should have control over all of our choices. Because we are too stupid to decide for ourselves. Which pretty much justifies the war in Iraq and the $850 billion bailout.
Five Star Michael, It isn't that they think people are too stupid to make the right decision, "they" do not want people to know their alternative selections which are much better than the product being served. They do not want to hear the platforms which deviate from the same Dem/Repub (one of a kind) choice, more or less. America has been dumbed down, and people accept what they are told, do not question authority and out anyone who does. They want us to play dead, more or less.
mdt187 believe that money has no "real" control over the system. They why do lobbyist spend so much money? We have a choice as consumers. People have been dumbed down by the idea that "other people" (government) can solve their problems.
They do want us to play dead. Drink beer, pay taxes, watch American Idol and go along with the government. Because the government is going to solve all of our problems. cont.
No doubt the dollar can be powerful. But the dollar is less powerful for the masses, because the masses have less dollars than, for ex., the lobbyists you mention. So regular people can't count on it to change their lives for the better. You say don't count on people (gov't) for change but count on the dollar instead, an arbitrary piece of paper whose arbitrarily-set value is in rapid decline. Some ideology. Good luck.
The dollar is not less powerful to the masses, just as the vote is not less powerful to the masses. We just act like victims. We don't use the power we have been granted. We don't use our vote or dollar to change the system. We keep buying shit products and shit candidates, because we are uninformed buyers. We accept what we are being offered as the best deal we can get.
Obama is winning this race, but he has spent more money on advertising then any candidate.
Also, Noam Chomsky would argue with you. Who is they? This is the media. We are the media. What is going wrong with all this? Why aren't people listening to Ralph Nader? Ralph Nader hasn't built a political base. He hasn't done anything to get Green party candidates into other offices. If 100 out of 535 members of congress were Green, people might pay attention to the party. But what are we fighting for? We need a grassroots movement, not pie-in-the-sky ideals.
Noam Chomsky would not agree with you. He is not a Libertarian, and he has said that a Libertarian government would be devastating. "They" is companies, corporations, and many other organizations. It's not that people aren't listening to Ralph Nader; people aren't hearing Ralph Nader, because he has been excluded by "they."
I didn't say Noam Chomsky would agree with all of my views. He did say, there is no conspiracy. Major news organizations focus on what people want to hear and read. People don't want to read or hear about Ralph Nader... they don't really care about an alternative party. He is just a name that comes up every four years. They is the public who doesn't care what he has to say. He's not offering much of an alternative.
"Major news organizations focus on what people want to hear and read." A myth. Read Eric Alterman on this: thenation[.]com/doc/20070910/alterman . Sure there's no conspiracy; news heads aren't whispering about what not to report on in order to keep the people down. But they are following the dollar, which leads to the two parties. Or vice-versa. Whatever. Meanwhile Nader is outside the frame, like rational debate about the war, the bailout, etc is outside the frame. None of that's on their radar
I don't disagree with you, because it sounds like you agree with me... they are following the dollar. The dollar does control opinion and effect decisions. The dollar is our voice, just like voting is our voice.
People don't care about the third party, it is a pipe-dream. Every four years we hear about three things. Healthcare reform (Dem), the voucher program(Rep.) and Ralph Nader. the rest of the time these issues are ignored... cont.
Maybe if your party got a different band a lot more people would come.
Nader has never run for congress, governor or mayor. As far as I know this party hasn't put it's energy behind promoting a candidate in regional elections. It has built no grassroots support.
But every four years Nader wants to be President. Why don't we try to affect local elections? The alternative parties are so disorganized. I e-mailed a few alt. party leaders in Columbus... and I never got an e-mail back.
YOu're right fivestarmichael. They are really disorganized. The official nader store got my money almost a month ago. In exchange for a modest donation and 8 dollar ups fee, I was to get a "Let Ralph Debate" lawn sign. Still has not arrived, inspite of numerous phone calls and emails. But they still want more of my money to party. What a wasted dysfunctional and disappointing organization...kind of a smaller scale sham. Too bad cus we need legitimate 3rd parties.
Have some perspective. You're getting angry at $8 spent on a sign which should've come your way, but show no outrage for Obama & McCain voting for > than $700 billion for corporate bailouts at taxpayers expense.
Surely you wanted him in the debates to represent voices of a silent & silenced MAJORITY against deficit spending on corporate bailouts, war occupation in Iraq, increased war in afghanistan & Pakistan, increased miiltary spending which both parties are proposing.
No one is angry about $8. We are all mad about the same thing. I haven't met anyone who backed this bailout... if some people did, they were in the vast minority. But did Congress listen to the people? No, they passed the bailout anyway and added on $150 billion, it's a $850 billion bailout.
We need a third party that gets involved in every level of politics. Not some name that only comes up only every four years. We need to focus on Congress, small battles we can win.
Perspective... surely you jest 0613162K! A scam, a front, taking advantage of the hopes and good will of common people to live a campaign lifestyle... come on, the Nader people are disorganized and IMO scamming other people like me with campaign donations for debate lawns signs and what not which they can't deliver on. YOu bet your ass Barr, Paul, Ventura people would deliver. Nader has disappointed and he is in it for HIMSELF and HIS CRONNIRS! They fail at following through but want more $
I hope you hold that same accountabilty for the Democrats & Republicans who only just recently voted for more than $700 bilion of taxpayers money for corporate bailouts at taxpayers expense.
They pretend they're going to cut taxes for the middle class & small businesses, yet someone is going to have to pay for this debt they keep increasing, by plans for further military expansion, escalated war in Afghanistan & Pakistan, occupation & future corporate bailouts.
We need to start a real third party. One that is involved in local, state and national elections. I voted for Nader in 04' because I believe in a third-party. Nader is just on an ego-trip.
Every four years you hear about Healthcare reform, Medicare reform and Ralph Nader... the rest of the time no one is doing anything.
Right again fivestarmichael! Keep em coming. Nader is becoming a total egotripping con artist who is ruining his legacy with a dysfunctional organization. Man what a sham! Four years ago he talked about getting viable independent candidates to run in his place. Yeah right, here's another hundred bucks Ralph, enjoy your dinner and next TV appearance. Makes me wanna puke, what a disgusting front from what needs to become a real 3rd party candidacy people can believe in!
Neither party is offering a real solution... they just want to spend more money. Neither party is doing more to help America. Which is why the elections are such a sham. Shouldn't one party be able to stand up and say, "This is what we have done for you the past 4 years?"
Instead they are arguing over who has the best idea of how to run the country in the next 4 years. If either party knew how the run the country America wouldn't be so fucked right now.
Here come the little gray men from the starship federation. They're coming to take me again, they're coming to take me away. This was Nader 4 years ago, when he had my vote. These days... oh man... Stop the group think and help Ralph transition to another level. He could share his wisdom instead of taking another 5, 10, 15 dollars from us suckers funding his 4 year run of art.
And your not complaining about the $8. This organization is not really organized at all. It voted for Nader in the last election because I was sickened by Kerry and Bush. There is no longer much difference between the two parties.
I don't know how to do it, but people like us need to put together a real third party. A party that gets involved in local, state and federal elections. Think globally, act locally.
Info doesn't flow freely; consumers aren't & never will be equally informed. Stupidity has nothing to do w/ it, but predatory lenders & cheap manufacturers do. So u have to protect the poor mom who doesn't have access to articles in medical periodicals, etc., that say which petroleum-based products are causing cancer in babies' stomachs. Some products should be banned. But your ideology would require each consumer to be an investigative reporter/scientist navigating a sea of dangerous products.
I support Ralph Nader's consumer advocacy and awareness. The FDA is very important... and I believe it falls under regulating interstate commerce.
How much are we willing to sacrifice for real change? Are we willing to go without a new car until GM installs seatbelts? Actually we would probably wait a long time because GM doesn't listen to the consumer. Americans have been crying for flex-fuel vehicles for ten years.. cont.
Also note that regarding Wall St., the Libertarian ideology would simultaneously say NO to regulation (because it reduces competition and choice) and NO to a taxpayer bailout. Don't we know by now that whenever the supreme dollar--worshiped by Libertarians--is left to its own devices, it will be bound only by the limits of human greed?
You are under this delusion that we need government to change society. Government must be the leader in progressive thinking. When we have all the power to change things in our wallets.
So many naysayers in the comments here trying to scare people into voting for their candidate. They must not think too high of their chosen candidates abilities if they have to use fearmongering and outright lies to promote them.
That's rights; and here's some assurance for them: McCain is not going to win. The right has been trying to support the guy out of a sense of duty, but they basically hate the guy and most of what he's stood for over the years. The Christian right will simply not vote for him, swing voters are sick of republicans, and his campaign inspires no confidence whatsoever. Considering this, there's no reason to panic, and no reason why any fan of Nader should not totally support him.
What a sad, sad state this country is in. Ralph, in a just world you'd be considered a national treasure...instead we get to choose between the "maverick" and yet another spineless democrat.
Oh, come on. Obama's not nearly as spineless as Kerry, Gore or Dukakis. Oh yeah, he's the only one out of those three who inspires people. Give the man a chance! Great things are getting ready to happen when we have both a Democratic President and a Democratic Congress.
I wish I shared your enthusiasm but, seeing as how both McCain and Obama supported the Wallstreet bailout I have no faith in the Democratic leadership anymore.
I was completely sickened by our political process in the last election. Was Kerry really an alternative to Bush? Both political parties are trying to pacify the consumer. They are both coming together, merging into one party... one choice. They aren't dichotomous. They both want to maintain the status quo... a larger, more powerful government.
We have gone back to an era when the big-three weren't putting seatbelts in cars. We didn't stand up and say... I'm not buying car without seatbelts. We looked to the government to solve our problems.
The government isn't going to solve this problem. The government is the problem. The constitution defends my right to say, Overthrow this government! Vote for people who listen to you. Most Americans didn't back the bailout but they passed it anyway... they aren't listening to you!
This video angers me, even more. Our government has gotten WAY too large and out of control. If we can't begin to take it back without violence, I believe there will be a new revolution, a new civil war. We will take it back one way or another, hopefully we can do it without physical violence.
One small, yet large step to making a real change (for the better) in this country is to vote for Nader this year!!
Our country is really in sad shape when so many voices can be ignored. I implore everyone to not only vote Nader in the Presidential elections, but to study and vote in your local elections as well. The only way we can really change this is to start from the bottom up. Take out their foundations, and they will start to crumble. No matter how long it takes, we have to start changing this now. If not for us, for our kids. We love ya Ralph
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
"Unreasonable Man" is great. And I love Nader and think our system sucks. But don't vote for Nader til he's got a rat's hair chance. Do you want McCain/Bush?
Yeah, right, don't vote for him if you don't want to have McCain/Bush in the office. And don't forget not to vote for the third party in 4 years, when another Bush-alike will be running for the office. And do the same in another 4 years. And so on... Just don't complain when you get stuck forever with a "lesser evil" who does almost nothing for people of this country, while making corporations richer.
It's true, concretetvron, that the democrats are just slightly the lesser of two evils, but remember that Obama has stated many times that he will not take us out of Iraq, that he's for more military spending, that he was for telecom immunity (i.e. domestic warrantless eavesdropping) and the bailout, etc. And anyone who knows 'the real' McCain from a few years ago should know that his presidency would negate the Christian right and move the GOP more to the left. So what exactly is the dilemma?
As a retired criminal attorney from NJ, I know one thing for sure from this clip - the US Constitution is no longer a relevant legal instrument in the United States of America let alone the Bill of Rights and of course Freedom of Speech, Press, and Assembly. That was then, (2000), and it is even more so now. I would love one politcal electee running for any office in 2008 to answer this question: Does the US Constitution have any application today vis a vis criminal/civil justice in the USA now?
this clip always breaks my heart. In 100 years, if the human race is even still around, they will look at this video with the cops and wonder how the hell people allowed this sort of thing to happen in society.
I think brain fingerprinting using the P300 responce using a EEG is the only way to monitor the emotionless canidates and screen people who work in goverment. That is one reason why I work on the free and open source project the PCEEG. Also Ralph seems to see through this smokescreen also. It is easy to be a angry group but how about a freedom of information act library that is easy to use as gmail for example? Make it so people this is your world I can't do it alone.
you may be right. I'm becoming more of a pessimist. People need to wake the fuck up. It's not hard to see through all the bullshit of the 2 major candidates, you just have to read the right sources. I'm so tired of all the self-proclaimed liberals on my campus who think Obama is really going to bring about change.
Just goes to show ya how far these 2 political parties will go to hold power!
FYI, the SHERIFF is the highest law enforcement official in any state's county, not the state or local police, nor FBI, nor CIA, nor BATF, nor Secret Servive.
Vote for peace. Vote to restore democracy to U.S. Vote for a better future for your children. Vote for liberty and justice for all. Vote Nader/Gonzalez '08.
It's ridiculous the level of Indoctrination, I am so sick of being told I'm wasting a vote. Democrats and Republicans waste their votes on candidates who don't represent them. I would vote for any candidate who could offer me Single Payer National Health Insurance, An end to Corporate Personhood and corporate crime, get OUT OF IRAQ NOW!, And pay the Iraqi's reparations for the crimes against humanity and uranium clean up. How about a LIVING WAGE!!!??? The other candidates support Wall Street.
If Obama or, McCain win, they should be thrown out of office. It is a fixed election. The American people have been cheated.
All media stations need to be boycotted!
ALL the American people need to demand justice! To not, is simply asking for a SLUG in the face, or worse.....
Both corporation owned candidates are for the Bail Out. Are for continuing the war. Both corporation owned candidates could care less what you want. To think otherwise makes you a fool Madam/Sir....
This video has been extremely effective in expossing the fraud of the Presidential debates.
Share this to millions whilst also advertising the third party internet debate on Oct 19th between Nader, McKinney, Barr & Baldwin debate against the 2 parties.
Also, remeber the story didn't end with 3rd party exclusion.8 years later the Democrats & Republicans exclude their own anti war anti corporate candidates (Gravel, Kucinich & Ron Paul) from their own debates.
That's the way it is when corporations run the country. "The liberty of democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic STATE itself. That, in it's essence, is FASCISM - ownership of government by an individual, by a group or by any controlling private power." --President Franklin Roosevelt
Ten minutes is too long. This needed to start at the five minute mark (where the STATE Police are working for the debate committee). The 323 people who viewed this are probably already Nader supporters and agree that he should be in the debates. Give us something to forward to our mainstream acquaintances!!!
Do the PEOPLE really want Corporate Fascism to be the model for this planet?
That's what the American neo-con Empire is spreading. They're like sharks in a feeding frenzy. Isn't there some sort of a commission that can investigate organised 'crime' when it infiltrates politics & puts on a mask of respectability? Isn't it a crime to offer bribes for a start? After all what is corporate political funding if not systemic bribery!? A feeding trough of greedy politicians & 'corporate lobbys'!
Our US government is BS we need to elect Ralph Nader 08 or another third party candidate to be our next President. America needs to overthrow the corrupt and deceitful Republicans and Democrats. Vote third party this election.
Nader's presidental race is almost too big a step foward (almost). The most practical thing for us all to do is to research the candidates for all the smaller government positions and find out who the independents are. We've got better odds at voting these people into office, and the more we elect, the weaker the duopoly becomes.
The third party can really make a difference if it becomes organized. Why are we shooting for the presidency? Bills are introduced in Congress. Think globally, act locally.
It is easier to win a congressional district then the presidency. It would be more productive if all of us put our energy and money into localized elections. We need to build a poltical base... Right now we are drawing plans for the penthouse... while the other twelve floors have not even been built.
fivestarmichael & tomisinsaigon, I agree. I am making a point of voting, when possible, for any 3rd party candidate running for local, state and national elections from now on. I am doing my part to slowly change the established duopoly one ballot pin prick at a time!
The scene where Ralph is denied entrance to the debates when he HAS A TICKET and is threatened with arrest is enough to make anyone vote against Jarack McBama and their coroporate controlers.
Forward this to your friends!
Also forward the three way presidential debate video so they can hear how much obama and mccain are alike
Private property laws are very real... That is the problem, these "debates" are not for and by the people, they are in someone's shack and invitations are negotiable.
MidiPunk, one can tell that initially the trooper was not in inclined to being respectful until Ralph started talking and then he realized he wasn't dealing with some "radical nut" or whomever he was told to go kick out.
He must be real proud of himself threatening to remove a 70 year old man by force,I suppose the state trooper is just doing his job but does he really have to be a dick about it?

Excluding a valid respectable candidate from a debate that many people use to make their choice is completely un-American.

damn that is fucked up, nader should have let them arrest him where he could tell the world his story. because that would have made news.
eric10686 3 years ago
The problem is the same corporations and politicians responsible for excluding him from the debates in media, would've also prevented a story like that in the "news".
The story doesn't end with 3rd party exclusion. 2008 showed Democrats and republicans excluding their own candidates from their respective debates, being Ron Paul, Kucinich and Gravel. Again, Nader, Barr, Baldwin & McKinney on enough state ballots to win are excluded.
Why? They all anti war & anti corporate coruption.

You can't blame the police. If you don't like the laws they enforce, change the laws. They have to do their job and follow the orders handed down.
cnubboy 3 years ago
They are atate police. They're not suppossed to exploited by the Presidential Debate Comision to threatnen to arrest someone who was not a secuity threat and had a valid invatation to watch the debates. You can see from this video Nader is never confrontational so it was totally overboard.
0613162k 3 years ago 4
That's the thing though, police, like the military, are not permitted to follow an illegal order. In fact you are instructed that illegal orders are exactly---illegal.
Nader himself points this out, namely that the state police are being abused here.
prkjs08 3 years ago 3
Oh shutup! We all know the laws need to be changed, but it's going to take some action from those who are enforcing these STUPID laws as well!

"They have to do their job and follow the orders handed down."
Funny, that's what the Nazis said at Nuremberg: "I was just following orders".
This isn't to say the state trooper above is a Nazi. But when you start using that excuse, it becomes a very slippery slope, now doesn't it?
Besides, public servents are not obligated to follow illegal orders, something Nader pointed out.

I have no faith in the government after watching this video. No one should be excluded from a debate because of their party affiliation. This is BS.
sofunnyithurts 3 years ago 3
Exclusion extends beyond party affiliation.
0613162k 3 years ago
Look at how the Republican party promoted George Bush in 2000. They knew they had a lacky tool who would fulfill their agenda. I am a conservative and I have no idea what that agenda was... put America $10 trillion in debt? Destroy the economy? Make oilmen rich? Destroy the middleclass? The parties have agendas and we must destroy the parties by voting 3rd party in local, state and national elections.

mdtrudeau... are you working for the RNC or DNC? I have looked at your profile... there is nothing there. You are advocating more government involvement. You are advocating a dependence on government. You don't sound like an American interested in change... you sound like a mouthpiece of the the establishment.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago

I voted for Nader last time around, and I plan on voting for him again since Ron Paul has dropped out, but whenever I mention his name to any of my friends or acquaintances I hear the same thing, "he doesn't stand a chance, your just throwing your vote away." I hear that so much in fact, that I believe if everyone who said that went with their gut and supported who they wanted to support then Nader WOULD stand a chance.
thezach222 3 years ago 2
No offense meant, but you're obviously voting for the people and not issues; Paul and Nader couldn't be further apart.
Ron Paul is against government, so things like requiring seat belts in cars, environmental regulation, and single-payer health care (to name three of Nader's concerns past and present) would be completely off the table.
If you believe in what RP stands for, you're better off voting Libertarian. If you agree with RN, you should vote Green, where your vote helps build a party.
jwlvs 3 years ago
none taken....neither Paul, or Nader is 100% right, nobody is, but from what Ive seen of Barr and Mckinney i wasn't real impressed with. Baldwin might be ok if he wasn't a bible thumper. I also like the fact that Nader does not have a party. Independent..., no party affiliations, no loyalties, bosses....except for the American people.
thezach222 3 years ago
You're mistaken when you're saying that RN and RP couldn't be further apart. Please search for: Ron Paul "four key principles". Those are 4 principles that Ron Paul and all third party candidates, except Barr, agreed upon. In my opinion these four issues are the most important ones. So, RN and RP are much closer to each other than, say, Obama or McCain and Ron Paul, or Obama or McCain and Nader.
gshvets 3 years ago
Minor mistake on my part - Barr didn't participate in the press conference, but he did agree with those four principles.
gshvets 3 years ago
But why would people buy a car that doesn't have a seatbelt? Isn't it more about personal choice? But people don't want to go without a car. Nader did a good thing making an issue of seatbelts, but why did the government have to step in? If Americans had stopped buying cars for one week, the big three would have put seatbelts in cars.
This has taught us to become dependent on the gonvernment to solve our problems. When we have all the power in our own wallets.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
People bought cars w/o seatbelts because car manufacturers were making cars without seatbelts. There is no personal choice there. Do you understand? Your statement is an example of the heart of Libertarian ideology, and it's really amazing that you think it's rational. Under the guise of choice, competition, and anti-"nanny government" regulation, Libertarians merely help manufacturers make shittier products that are more dangerous to consumers.
mdt187 3 years ago 2
But Americans weren't willing to stand up to the big-three with their wallets. Consumers help the proliferation of shittier products. Just like we have helped the proliferation of shity candidates. We are buying what they are selling. What are Americans driving now? Not gas-guzzling piece-of-shit American cars. Why? Because they are gas guzzling pieces of shit. But we still vote for gas-guzzling pieces of shit.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
Currency & consumers aren't as powerful as you think, & they never will be. B/c there will always be a company & consumers who will sell & buy the lowest denominator--let's say, for ex, children's toys made w/ lead paint. You can't just HOPE the market takes care of such unpleasantries, no--some things must be illegal. Libertarian ideology is purely capitalistic in this way--it doesn't believe in law; more accurately, the dollar is its law. The citizen is merely consumer; the citizen is dollar.
mdt187 3 years ago
You are saying people are too stupid to make the right decision when buying a product. So the government must help them make the right decision. In essence you are saying people are too stupid to make the right choices, so the government must decide for them.
So government should have control over all of our choices. Because we are too stupid to decide for ourselves. Which pretty much justifies the war in Iraq and the $850 billion bailout.
Dollar isn't the law, choice is the law.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
Five Star Michael, It isn't that they think people are too stupid to make the right decision, "they" do not want people to know their alternative selections which are much better than the product being served. They do not want to hear the platforms which deviate from the same Dem/Repub (one of a kind) choice, more or less. America has been dumbed down, and people accept what they are told, do not question authority and out anyone who does. They want us to play dead, more or less.
notcomatose 3 years ago
mdt187 believe that money has no "real" control over the system. They why do lobbyist spend so much money? We have a choice as consumers. People have been dumbed down by the idea that "other people" (government) can solve their problems.
They do want us to play dead. Drink beer, pay taxes, watch American Idol and go along with the government. Because the government is going to solve all of our problems. cont.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
No doubt the dollar can be powerful. But the dollar is less powerful for the masses, because the masses have less dollars than, for ex., the lobbyists you mention. So regular people can't count on it to change their lives for the better. You say don't count on people (gov't) for change but count on the dollar instead, an arbitrary piece of paper whose arbitrarily-set value is in rapid decline. Some ideology. Good luck.
mdtrudeau 3 years ago
The dollar is not less powerful to the masses, just as the vote is not less powerful to the masses. We just act like victims. We don't use the power we have been granted. We don't use our vote or dollar to change the system. We keep buying shit products and shit candidates, because we are uninformed buyers. We accept what we are being offered as the best deal we can get.
Obama is winning this race, but he has spent more money on advertising then any candidate.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
Also, Noam Chomsky would argue with you. Who is they? This is the media. We are the media. What is going wrong with all this? Why aren't people listening to Ralph Nader? Ralph Nader hasn't built a political base. He hasn't done anything to get Green party candidates into other offices. If 100 out of 535 members of congress were Green, people might pay attention to the party. But what are we fighting for? We need a grassroots movement, not pie-in-the-sky ideals.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
Noam Chomsky would not agree with you. He is not a Libertarian, and he has said that a Libertarian government would be devastating. "They" is companies, corporations, and many other organizations. It's not that people aren't listening to Ralph Nader; people aren't hearing Ralph Nader, because he has been excluded by "they."
mdtrudeau 3 years ago
I didn't say Noam Chomsky would agree with all of my views. He did say, there is no conspiracy. Major news organizations focus on what people want to hear and read. People don't want to read or hear about Ralph Nader... they don't really care about an alternative party. He is just a name that comes up every four years. They is the public who doesn't care what he has to say. He's not offering much of an alternative.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
"Major news organizations focus on what people want to hear and read." A myth. Read Eric Alterman on this: thenation[.]com/doc/20070910/alterman . Sure there's no conspiracy; news heads aren't whispering about what not to report on in order to keep the people down. But they are following the dollar, which leads to the two parties. Or vice-versa. Whatever. Meanwhile Nader is outside the frame, like rational debate about the war, the bailout, etc is outside the frame. None of that's on their radar
mdt187 3 years ago
I don't disagree with you, because it sounds like you agree with me... they are following the dollar. The dollar does control opinion and effect decisions. The dollar is our voice, just like voting is our voice.
People don't care about the third party, it is a pipe-dream. Every four years we hear about three things. Healthcare reform (Dem), the voucher program(Rep.) and Ralph Nader. the rest of the time these issues are ignored... cont.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
Maybe if your party got a different band a lot more people would come.
Nader has never run for congress, governor or mayor. As far as I know this party hasn't put it's energy behind promoting a candidate in regional elections. It has built no grassroots support.
But every four years Nader wants to be President. Why don't we try to affect local elections? The alternative parties are so disorganized. I e-mailed a few alt. party leaders in Columbus... and I never got an e-mail back.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago 3
YOu're right fivestarmichael. They are really disorganized. The official nader store got my money almost a month ago. In exchange for a modest donation and 8 dollar ups fee, I was to get a "Let Ralph Debate" lawn sign. Still has not arrived, inspite of numerous phone calls and emails. But they still want more of my money to party. What a wasted dysfunctional and disappointing organization...kind of a smaller scale sham. Too bad cus we need legitimate 3rd parties.
taoistcowboy123 3 years ago
Have some perspective. You're getting angry at $8 spent on a sign which should've come your way, but show no outrage for Obama & McCain voting for > than $700 billion for corporate bailouts at taxpayers expense.
Surely you wanted him in the debates to represent voices of a silent & silenced MAJORITY against deficit spending on corporate bailouts, war occupation in Iraq, increased war in afghanistan & Pakistan, increased miiltary spending which both parties are proposing.
0613162k 3 years ago
No one is angry about $8. We are all mad about the same thing. I haven't met anyone who backed this bailout... if some people did, they were in the vast minority. But did Congress listen to the people? No, they passed the bailout anyway and added on $150 billion, it's a $850 billion bailout.
We need a third party that gets involved in every level of politics. Not some name that only comes up only every four years. We need to focus on Congress, small battles we can win.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
Perspective... surely you jest 0613162K! A scam, a front, taking advantage of the hopes and good will of common people to live a campaign lifestyle... come on, the Nader people are disorganized and IMO scamming other people like me with campaign donations for debate lawns signs and what not which they can't deliver on. YOu bet your ass Barr, Paul, Ventura people would deliver. Nader has disappointed and he is in it for HIMSELF and HIS CRONNIRS! They fail at following through but want more $
taoistcowboy123 3 years ago
I hope you hold that same accountabilty for the Democrats & Republicans who only just recently voted for more than $700 bilion of taxpayers money for corporate bailouts at taxpayers expense.
They pretend they're going to cut taxes for the middle class & small businesses, yet someone is going to have to pay for this debt they keep increasing, by plans for further military expansion, escalated war in Afghanistan & Pakistan, occupation & future corporate bailouts.
0613162k 3 years ago 2
We need to start a real third party. One that is involved in local, state and national elections. I voted for Nader in 04' because I believe in a third-party. Nader is just on an ego-trip.
Every four years you hear about Healthcare reform, Medicare reform and Ralph Nader... the rest of the time no one is doing anything.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
Right again fivestarmichael! Keep em coming. Nader is becoming a total egotripping con artist who is ruining his legacy with a dysfunctional organization. Man what a sham! Four years ago he talked about getting viable independent candidates to run in his place. Yeah right, here's another hundred bucks Ralph, enjoy your dinner and next TV appearance. Makes me wanna puke, what a disgusting front from what needs to become a real 3rd party candidacy people can believe in!
taoistcowboy123 3 years ago
Neither party is offering a real solution... they just want to spend more money. Neither party is doing more to help America. Which is why the elections are such a sham. Shouldn't one party be able to stand up and say, "This is what we have done for you the past 4 years?"
Instead they are arguing over who has the best idea of how to run the country in the next 4 years. If either party knew how the run the country America wouldn't be so fucked right now.

taoistcowboy123 3 years ago
And your not complaining about the $8. This organization is not really organized at all. It voted for Nader in the last election because I was sickened by Kerry and Bush. There is no longer much difference between the two parties.
I don't know how to do it, but people like us need to put together a real third party. A party that gets involved in local, state and federal elections. Think globally, act locally.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
Info doesn't flow freely; consumers aren't & never will be equally informed. Stupidity has nothing to do w/ it, but predatory lenders & cheap manufacturers do. So u have to protect the poor mom who doesn't have access to articles in medical periodicals, etc., that say which petroleum-based products are causing cancer in babies' stomachs. Some products should be banned. But your ideology would require each consumer to be an investigative reporter/scientist navigating a sea of dangerous products.
mdtrudeau 3 years ago
I support Ralph Nader's consumer advocacy and awareness. The FDA is very important... and I believe it falls under regulating interstate commerce.
How much are we willing to sacrifice for real change? Are we willing to go without a new car until GM installs seatbelts? Actually we would probably wait a long time because GM doesn't listen to the consumer. Americans have been crying for flex-fuel vehicles for ten years.. cont.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
Also note that regarding Wall St., the Libertarian ideology would simultaneously say NO to regulation (because it reduces competition and choice) and NO to a taxpayer bailout. Don't we know by now that whenever the supreme dollar--worshiped by Libertarians--is left to its own devices, it will be bound only by the limits of human greed?

That's rights; and here's some assurance for them: McCain is not going to win. The right has been trying to support the guy out of a sense of duty, but they basically hate the guy and most of what he's stood for over the years. The Christian right will simply not vote for him, swing voters are sick of republicans, and his campaign inspires no confidence whatsoever. I was completely sickened by our political process in the last election. Was Kerry really an alternative to Bush? Both political parties are trying to pacify the consumer. They are both coming together, merging into one party... one choice. They aren't dichotomous. They both want to maintain the status quo... a larger, more powerful government.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
We have gone back to an era when the big-three weren't putting seatbelts in cars. We didn't stand up and say... I'm not buying car without seatbelts. We looked to the government to solve our problems.
The government isn't going to solve this problem. The government is the problem. The constitution defends my right to say, Overthrow this government! Vote for people who listen to you. Most Americans didn't back the bailout but they passed it anyway... they aren't listening to you!

The only way we can take over America is to physically, violently, and brutally take it over.

you may be right. I'm becoming more of a pessimist. People need to wake the fuck up. It's not hard to see through all the bullshit of the 2 major candidates, you just have to read the right sources. I'm so tired of all the self-proclaimed liberals on my campus who think Obama is really going to bring about change.
Very insightful video. Thanks for posting.

BEAUTIFUL!
Thank's JPALLISON for sharing this!
Just goes to show ya how far these 2 political parties will go to hold power!
FYI, the SHERIFF is the highest law enforcement official in any state's county, not the state or local police, nor FBI, nor CIA, nor BATF, nor Secret Servive.
The county Sheriff CAN arrest all of them!

Wow, I love the CNN report. The CPD should be sued for this exclusion, when Ralph had a ticket that was paid for.

Kind of funny that it was called a "Facebook". And that's how Ralph is spreading his message nowadays, sort of.

That's the way it is when corporations run the country. "The liberty of democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic STATE itself. That, in it's essence, is FASCISM - ownership of government by an individual, by a group or by any controlling private power." --President Franklin Roosevelt
arcturus33333 3 years ago 7

Vote third party this election.
garrett0199 3 years ago 12
And look for third party/independent women/men running for congress. We need to overthrow the entire House of Representative.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago 8
What fivestarmichael said.
Nader's presidental race is almost too big a step foward (almost). The most practical thing for us all to do is to research the candidates for all the smaller government positions and find out who the independents are. We've got better odds at voting these people into office, and the more we elect, the weaker the duopoly becomes.
tomisinsaigon 3 years ago
The third party can really make a difference if it becomes organized. Why are we shooting for the presidency? Bills are introduced in Congress. Think globally, act locally.
It is easier to win a congressional district then the presidency. It would be more productive if all of us put our energy and money into localized elections. We need to build a poltical base... Right now we are drawing plans for the penthouse... while the other twelve floors have not even been built.
fivestarmichael 3 years ago
fivestarmichael & tomisinsaigon, I agree. I am making a point of voting, when possible, for any 3rd party candidate running for local, state and national elections from now on. I am doing my part to slowly change the established duopoly one ballot pin prick at a time!

What happen to our Great republic? Oh yeah, it is now a Democracy and the majority makes rules and the corporations/bankers paying the bills.
So Paul Kirk and Frank Fahrenkopf apologized and gave $50.000 to the electoral reform project.
Small in any price to pay to keep the corporations/banks hidden agenda going full steam ahead.
This is what these great ladies and men and the ones before them including my bloodline fought and died for this country 4:(

Don't allow your anger to be misdirected towards the police. The cop was respectful and allowed the crew to get some very important video footage.

BS the cop was enforcing a law that does not exist

Private property laws are very real... That is the problem, these "debates" are not for and by the people, they are in someone's shack and invitations are negotiable.
MidiPunk 3 years ago 4
MidiPunk, one can tell that initially the trooper was not in inclined to being respectful until Ralph started talking and then he realized he wasn't dealing with some "radical nut" or whomever he was told to go kick out.
