As an American who appreciates high-quality television, I've gotta say, I really enjoy the British "Millionaire" in its entirety, having still been on the air, virtually unchanged, for as long as it has. I've heard a rumor that the civilian version of "Millionaire" has been cancelled, and that only celebrity episodes will be produced from now on. It's just a rumor, but still...
@mmucougar The majority of UK shows have been made in widescreen for nearly a decade. In the US, widescreen has only emerged since HD became popular so if it isn't broadcast in HD, it almost certainly wouldn't be widescreen.
@DragonQ Who Wants to be a Millionaire England has been using widescreen since 1999. And how can UK use Widescreen view if it's not even High Definition? HD didn't exist for a lot of the 13 years Millionaire UK has been on the air. Someone should persuade Michael Davies (The Producer of Who Wants to be a Millionaire in the United States) to start airing the show in HD and Widescreen.
@mmucougar HD and widescreen are different things, it just so happens that HD as a format is always widescreen. Standard definition widescreen was standard for digital formats (cable, satellite, Freeview) in the UK until HD took hold. Almost all DVDs (including films) are widescreen, almost all new TV shows in the last decade were made and broadcast in widescreen, etc.
GOD how long does Chris Tarrant have to TAKE on EVERY STINKIN' ANSWER?!! This is one of the many reasons why the U.S. version is better than every other country's version. At least Meredith Vieira and Regis Philbin both say the answer in ten seconds at max and they don't repeat the question like that fucker Chris Tarrant does...GOD...
that's what i like about regis. he doesn't spend ten minutes milking the moment after the contestant say final amswer. he get's more people into the hotseat this way.

Wouldn't it be better to enter the One we have here in England? Since the Pound is worth more than a dollar?

@ohgoditsjames94 I'd imagine that's what the japanese say. 1 million yen = under £8,000

@farvin111 Yes, but it's still going to be cancelled due to disappointing ratings.

@farvin111: That's why I said *virtually* unchanged. I believe the clock format was only instituted recently.

@colBoh You're right, in the UK the clock format has only been used since August 2010.

There's also higher turnover because the American contestants always leave with very little; they need smarter ones.

@Mysterious0Bob they still get less anyway, they still get 1m dollars, your thinking of them getting the equivelant of 1m pounds into dollars.
