  • First singer : MARION WILLIAMS

  • What's missing in todays gospel music is the Holy Ghost and the anointing! Too many new gospel artists sing for show and are not living a Holy life!

  • i'm one of those young bucks brought up the old school way. give me the old school any day. 28yrs.......brought up like when i heard how they tarried for the holy ghost.

  • @cdhinton77 I find it very touching that more young people are discovering this genre of gospel music. At 28 years of age, its likely that your parents weren't even born when this music was so popular. Maybe there's hope after all.

  • @jollysincere my mom was born in 1960 and my dad 1943. she always played some of the old school gospel and when we were little. why? don't know! we didn't go to church, I didn't know anything about Jesus. but i remember the songs she played and sang around the house, it made me feel good listening to them. I guess the Lord was dealing with me then and i didn't know it. gotta love'em

  • @cdhinton77 I was born in 1935, So both of your parents are children under me (LOL) The Davis Sisters were good friends of mind. The lord speaks to us in mysterious ways, so maybe that was his way of reaching you, Those songs certainly gives me strength. Your dad, was old enough to remember this genre, but your mom, being born in 1960, this is before her time, evidently her parents schooled her well. I used to attend church, but i'm a retired Baptist now. Todays church anit for me!

  • @jollysincere LOL! my mom was young but she brought us up the oldschool way. I'm still that way. my fam & friends have always told me I acted old, or had an old spirit. I was even called g'ma. I'd rather be that way than a young & silly women like the 1's the bible talk about. found a chrch where they go by the spirit. thought them folks were crazy when i first met'em cuz they were so nice. 2 nice I thought. I don't like all this new stuff either. gimme oldtime religion anytime

  • @cdhinton77 I will say it again, nothing beats proper home training. i raised 6! children along with my late husband, and we raised each one to be respectful of others & themselves. An "OLD" spirit probaly did get attached to your young body, it does happen from time to time. That Old time religion, is what brought many folks over the rough times many a years ago. continue in your good up bringing, it will carry you through all sorts of times, i speak from experience.

  • @jollysincere will do :0) thanks for the encouragement.

  • @cdhinton77 Your so welcome baby, God Bless Your Heart.

  • i am from a younger generation, i found this by accident...........i was schocked, is sooooooo beautiful and powerful

beautful pure gospel, thank you marion

    anna

  • If their was anyone who could match her in talent I have not seen them she is truly awsome and has one heck of an annointed voice glad I found this channel for I truly love me some old time gospel music this is how gospel should be sung

  • Happy Birthday Marion Williams! I love you> simon4186

  • I believe, yes i do.

  • These new kids today should take some serious notes. Today, they don't have nothing on Marion, Mahalia, Clara, Ruth Davis, Rosetta, Edna Galmon Cooke, Bro. Joe May and the countless others from that Era. This was the type of singing that filled the churches...and got folks saved...and taught scriptures, too. Glory be to God.

  • @Hunglo12 CHECK OUT the Caravans

  • Very nice. She looks and sings like Nell

  • Look who came to visit me. The original house music.

  • ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL----AND I BELIEVE GOD IS PRESENT.

  • Superb! Thanks for posting.

I always hear joy and pain in Marion's voice. But mostly joy.

  • I BELIEVE YES I DO

  • wow!

  • i've never been a fan of gospel music, but this is amazing, especially Marion's performance of It Is Well With My Soul, just beautiful

  • Wow rockin that long ponytail...first time i ever seen someone of this era with a long ponytail...love it..love this song..are they sisters

  • Mattie is in her 20s. Marion is 35, Kitty is 36, Frances is 48, and Henrietta is 61

  • i love all of their faces at 3:10!

  • OMG!! 2:50 Whooooaa! Ya girl ripped it up! Funny how they all had a "whatever" face at the end. lol! Love this. Thanks for posting.

  • Marion Williams sounds like the soprano version of Albertina Walker or like a soprano version of Archie Brownlee

  • toooooooooooo much

  • Marion flies to heaven once again.

  • Only God himself knows how bad i miss this style of singing. These folks along with their heavy handed pianist really knew how to set the tone. yes lord!

  • @jollysincere lol!!!! god in the room!

  • @jollysincere LETS BRING IT BACK!!! i'm game for that

  • @cdhinton77 I wish it would come back, but i doubt if i will ever see this again in my life time. But i sure enjoyed it back in the 1950s when this type of gospel was wall to wall.

  • @jollysincere AMEN TO THAT!

  • Her voice was so distinct

  • Did she "shimmy" at 1:10 .....LOL

  • hahaha! yes she does! Look at 2:03, she does it again

  • too funny!! love it!

  • Kitty made sure she stepped to the side so the camera would pick her up! I love Kitty, her voice was the best!

  • So do I lol!

  • My God, but Marion loved to sing, didn't she?
