E30 turbo gauge prototype

this is an aircore gauge

its uses aircore coils

the rpm gauge of that cluster is also an aircoil coil

0-5V pwm.

Project was ditched due to the fact that I could never drive the coil with enough current to actually make it accurate enough to sell.

If anyone was to take over this, look online for smaller stepper motors and use a control circuit, much MUCH easier, even a small servo motor would work (what I was eventually going to switch to)

What is the input to the gauge? 0-5v, 12v PWM, etc?

I ditched this project.. Simply because it was too difficult to calibrate it to each persons gauge..

That.. and I sold my E30 for a S2000 :D

I believe another guy took my idea and progressed with it though.

Hey, I don't know too too much about turbos, but is that gauge standard on a BMW turbo?

No, that gauge is for the intake vacuum. In other words, it´l show you a ruff idea how much the engine is running per mile. So, the gauge is standard on all newer BMWs, but its not a turbogauge of any kind. I think it´l show the wrong figures if you drive with forced induction. Hope that answers your question :)
