You are right it is the CL but they are dropping the name just as they have dropped the CLK. The CLK is now the E Coupe, the CL will be called the S Coupe. Strange but they are simplifying the line up names

@slowwind2 in Germany many expensive cars have rear lights that change brightness and order of appearance (like flashing) according to how hard you apply the brakes. the reason it isn't available here in the US is because 99.99% of the current population are dumb rednecks who don't stand a chance at realizing what a cool feature that is. And would actually find it confusing, which is why it's actually illegal here.

It's the CL you see the rear window, it has that curve bit and its a huge car and it has the round rear window at the top, and it is the same shape as the 2006- cl, just a facelift

Almost all the car manufacturers are doing it now. Its called LED lighting.

Many have already done it including: Audi, Porsche (on the 997.2), Land Rover (on their new Range Rover).

apparently...it is going to be discontinued. what you're reffering to is the SEC which is the "father" of the CL. the CL is based on an S coupe but mercedes it only doing this to conserve money on naming and taxes. The idea is- less models, less over head costs. they will also discontinue the CLK and call it the E coupe. Just because it was based on a suposed s coupe doesnt mean it was an s coupe. i mean it does say CL on the back. does it not?

the S class sedan is also getting a slight facelift, and I agree with you, i think they will get similar headlights but probably styled more like the new E class. They will share the chassis/interior and the S coupe will get the high end engines.
